Simple upgrades to the lamp would be to drill a hole with a drill bit intended for glass to make the cord come out the bottom and either attach the bowl and vase with glue or add that squishy drawer liner to the bowl to keep it from being glass on glass and so the bowl doesn’t fall off center so easily. Great DIYS! 100% making both myself!

You could just turn the vase upside down if you wanted the cord to come out the bottom... But you might need some kind of base though cause otherwise it would be much less stable (You'd also want to make sure you didn't spray paint the bottom of the vase so light could come through). I actually LOVE the fact that you girls still follow trends and aren't afraid to play with colour and era when you decorate. So many of my favourite DIY KZbinrs/Ticktockers have morphed into a very same-same 'mature' style, often quite French Farmhouse without meaning to, lots of 'lets just paint our window trim black' (which is fine if that's your style, but there is SO MUCH of that content already out there). PLEASE stay weird, creative and brave! Your videos are a breath of fresh air and your stuff is beautiful xx

Love the mushroom lamp. I think one of the most valuable and enjoyable things about this type of video is figuring out how you would do it differently. But without seeing the original inspiration I doubt I'd have ever thought of trying something like this. Thank you!
@sandrakicklighter27352 жыл бұрын
I watched the video excited to learn how you were going to drill the hole in the glass to pass it through. And then you didn't. Not a fan of the wire coming out of the top, but maybe that's just me. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE finding out about the specific carpet tape, glue, etc. I had no clue so that was a huge help, thanks! I have a jute rug I love, and red wine got spilled on it. Hiding the stain under a bed right now but really wanted to use it in another room. Now I might try actually doing a decorative insert and just cut out the stain.
@HarvestLuna2 жыл бұрын
Same. I was pretty sure she was going to use a diamond drill bit for this but was curious if she would use another option. A diamond drill bit is fairly inexpensive $10-20 USD at your local hardy store. You can also use the bit to cut holes in pots for drainage.
@waxon71092 жыл бұрын

Or maybe some foamy air dry clay around the top of the vase for a more snug fit…and or a circle of clay or hot glue inside the bowl that is smaller than the diameter of the vase. Since there wasn’t much light coming through the bowl anyway it shouldn’t be too visible
@zp50162 жыл бұрын
My thoughts to fix that were to either make a craft foam circle thats a bit bigger than circumference of the outside of the vase and glue it to the top to add some stability, or in sorry girls fashion... Hot glue a circle thats a bit bigger than the circumference of the vase 😂
@alicebirch38682 жыл бұрын
I thought to flip the vase the other way up, and use a diamond bit dremel to notch out a bit for the cable, so the bottom of the lamp is open to access the bulb, then glue the bowl to the vase!

I think leaving the tape on was a mistake, it means the glue wasn’t going into most of the rug backing or the loops on the top. It wouldn’t need a stiffer backing, just something actually adhered to the actual rug, not the tape.
