i think the best way to mimic the spots in the original stocking would be by brushing chalk pastels or eyeshadow on it? then maybe using a loose hold hairspray to seal it in. it might not work so well for clothes since it'll rub off easier but for just a decor item it might work

The wreath is my favorite. 💕 When cutting fake fur you should try using an exacto knife on just the back fabric so you don't cut the fur length. For anyone wanting to sew it, I suggest hand sewing since it's easier to move the fur away from the seam aa you go so you don't have to pick the fur out of the seam later.

LOL Becky-“I don’t know what the word for this is 🤷🏼♀️, they’re like 🤔...Sticks or Twigs that are like...wrapped together in a..round...wreath...branchy shaped type deal”? Do you not have grapevines that you could grab & swing on when you were young? They are all over any wooded areas in the Midwest & Southern part of the US! They aren’t true “grapevines”, just large vines from Weeping Willow trees that twist together! So you get a good running start, grab on to the vine & “Wheeee”, (if you have someone to push you), swing really high. They mostly grow near water so we would use them as ropes to swing into ponds & lakes, lol! If I need a base to a wreath, I just go out into the woods, cut vines, soak them in water to make them more pliable & TA-DA...free wreath! They all turned out wonderfully, it makes you wonder why people pay the ridiculous prices when making something like the countdown board yourself is so much more special & will become a treasured family item. These are some of my faves you’ve done! 🤗💜😘

@YoungBowieLover5 жыл бұрын
I realize they try to make it the easiest DIY possible, but glue is not going to hold that fur stocking together when it gets filled on Christmas. You could have just as easily done a straight running stitch by hand with big stitches and achieved a longer lasting item.
@lestranged5 жыл бұрын
Agree. They have been gluing a lot of fabric projects recently that would get a much better result with sewing (and it actually takes LESS time to sew it than to glue and wait to dry). Glue is good for some jobs, like I would have glued the leaves to the wreath instead of wiring, but fabric jobs usually work best with sewing.
@Xx2good4ux5 жыл бұрын
I think the purpose of them using glue is to make it more relatable for those who do not have sewing materials on hand, most people would have glue. I agree that sewing it would be a lot better for long lasting purposes, but their goal was to recreate overpriced decor items at a cheaper price. It didn't necessarily have to be functional as long as it looked great :)
@lestranged5 жыл бұрын
@@Xx2good4ux Price has a relationship to durability though. if it costs 10$ to make, and falls apart in 5 minutes, that is 10$ wasted. If something lasts for years, you divide the price by the lifespan and how much use you got from the item. Also: needle and thread are cheaper than glue.
@Xx2good4ux5 жыл бұрын
lestrange i know you’re exaggerating by saying it’ll fall apart in 5 minutes, but as I said before if you’re using it as a decor piece rather than it’s functionality then I think it holds up pretty well. There’s nothing wrong in taking the less time consuming route if the intention was to just use it as decor. I even agreed in my previous post that sewing it would more durable too so I’m not dismissing that :) I also said that most people would already have glue in their homes on hand versus a needle and thread, I didn’t say anything about it being cheaper. Plus their tutorials are just ideas for diys that you can do, and if you come up with a better method to get the same result than go for it! They’re just trying to post videos that more people can relate to.

To speckle or colour the fur Copic Markers work very well but they are pricey, so I believe you could use any alcohol based marker of which there are many of varying quality. Another good choice are Promarkers.
@carlaknight91595 жыл бұрын
Love them all! Santa countdown is my favorite because $4/day is a tad ridiculous. Also, you can just buy different styles and patterns of faux fur, no need to dye or paint, and they should all be in the same price range. And finally, the leaves in the PB wreath are magnolia leaves! They have a rubbery front, but the back is the luxurious velvet feel. Not sure if you have them in Canada, but they are a southern Kentucky girl’s life! Keep up the great work and merry Christmas!
