God these are the perfect smart glasses. the best version of this form factor made so far. so companies of the tech giants are trying to shove way too much tech into what should just be a simple HUD, the only thing missing is a dev platform or open API

Thank you. You provide us with the best eyewear content on KZbin. As a pilot, I use heads-up displays regularly; so I appreciate the goals of this technology. They are on the right track, vs some of the gimmicks I see with other smart glasses. I will buy a pair when they become available. I can see the worth of this type of information presentation. Moreover, it is in frames that are mainstream, and interesting. Unlike Apple watches which are hideous on the wrist, these are attractive frames.

As usual a thorough and comprehensive evaluation. As the daughter of an engineer, I particularly appreciate the conversation around the considerations that went into deciding what features to prioritize in the G1 from an engineering perspective, and why all plausible ideas can’t be realistically implemented. Adding S/F customizable sun clips is a game changer! It’s amazing that clips don’t somehow interfere with the technology. The View of Victoria Peak at the end is just stunning.

A really insightful look into how this technology has been developed and the pioneering steps required to make it a reality. So much human driven processes as the technology is just so new we haven’t had time to automate it yet. A really considered position about what to include and leave out of the eyewear; you can tell that he is first and foremost an everyday glasses wearer. Thanks Robert for a mind blowing look at how eyewear is developing and advancing in hand with technology. A well produced film and really insightful. Congrats… and you lucky bugger! As someone who sold Ray-Ban’s during the launch of the Meta glasses, this is a superior built product and I can’t wait to see where they go from here! This also made me think of a potential video idea as someone who has this issue: Frames for a small face, but a significantly wider head.

There is so much potential on the software side with the varied types of information they can feed, just like your book discovery. They can have an app catalogue with apps built by first-party and community developers. Our phones are already powerful enough to be the brains; the spectacles just need a fast, reliable connection to access the data at a moment's notice. On my daily commute, I listen to music via a random playlist. It would be great if I could glance in the spectacles to see what music is currently playing. A one-line persistent notification whilst music or any other media is playing on the phone. It is just one of many useful features of this tech. When I'm jogging or exercising, it can feed me some basic data from a health wearable sensor like a smartwatch. Thanks for the video update. Your website does not show if you sell the G1 with a prescription or the clip-on Sun shades. Please confirm

After seeing some of the reviews i was wishing for a sort of always on display mode to have time and date infront of you always but now i see HAOS and how you interact with it is very well designed. It makes the glasses as unintrusive as possible and like a smart watch they stay out of the way but when you need to check something a simple gesture (like raising your wrist or in the case of the G1 looking up slightly gives yiu quick access to what ever info you need and the glasses return to being basically there but not in the way of what you are doing. I only hope they add more features as time goes on like settings to have the time fade in to your view briefly without need to look up, countdown timer, stop watch, water minder theres alot of info snippets these can excel at fading in and out of your view

My ideal AR glasses (or any AR/VR/XR eyewear/headset) is something that can switch between all 3 modes, be lightweight but durable (it can even be a traditional headset if needed, though glasses are preferable) either have all the hardware and software on board like a Quest, or be easily compatible with a smart phone, iPad, computer (laptop or otherwise) and/or all three at once (though one at a time is perfectly fine) and most importantly (in my case) can run (or even just display while whatever device it’s connected to does all the heavy lifting) AR media like games and interactive custom animations and stuff!
@drewo.127
@drewo.127 3 күн бұрын
Not saying this should be the default smart glasses design! I 100% agree that most glasses should have only the essentials to assist the average Joe and Jane like auto translate and caption technology like what these glasses offer! That’s totally fine! I’m just saying that having glasses that can do similar things and also be able to either run light custom software and media, or function as an AR display for an external device can be really fun and useful for things like game development, product design, and even multimedia storytelling!
@drewo.127
@drewo.127 3 күн бұрын
Real quick: I actually love that Even Realities is focusing just as much on the hardware and ease of use and especially the prescription lens side of things as they are on the software! While I personally don’t really need glasses, I understand the importance of having prescription lenses offered in various eyewear and headsets, especially when you have to wear them for most of the day!

I think they've found a minimalist approach, that can make smart glasses take off. First it needs to be just a good pair of (regular looking) glasses. One that one wants to wear all day. Next, add HUD, and hands free. This by itself, is enough of an edge, to start a new consumer category. People hate friction. And if it proves its everyday utility along these lines, it can take off. Esp. in not pulling out one's phone. (The smartwatch is a close competitor.) Now some additional suggestions. Esp. some of the tech giants such as Meta, Google, think one can't do without a camera. 1. Optional clip on camera someday, so one can take pictures, or video. And bystanders will know there is a camera. But more important, if genuine AR, with image recognition is to be used someday, this would be available. 2. Audio can be handled with ear buds. 3. API for 3rd party developers. Either that, or a public suggestion, or discussion board, on what users would like to see as features, in future updates, and releases.

@simontalbot7043 4 күн бұрын
Looks to be a great product, however the lack of audio is a deal breaker for me. I am a daily wearer of the meta Rayban (prescription transition lenses). Whilst I could do without the cameras, I could not be without the audio. The audio for me is one of the most useful features for listening to audio /podcast’s, audio books etc. Also the audio allows for natural interaction with AI and allows for real time feedback on questions. I have had absolutely zero issues with weight and wear all day. They recharge to 100% in around 30 mins so battery life not an issue. I will keep a keen eye on future iterations.

Here is a suggestion, may be good or not, I'm just curious how others would think about it; what if there were cameras, but they were on the inside, facing and tracking eyeballs? The utility would be that it would allow dynamic, instead of static use of the GUI and could enable a finer capacity of control (like moving the teleprompter based on what you have already seen [aka you can now read ahead and it will keep up]. Paired with some sort of "smart ring" that could be used as an input device (can differentiate single, double, triple table from finger) that could also have a spinning option [the ring itself spins, it is made of two rings one on top the other, being free floating]. It can become a dynamic tool based on what you're looking at [i.e. volume when opening music app, map scale when maps/directions are open, size of translation text when actively listening, the possibilities of dynamic control are endless. The ring easily could have several days of battery life, and become an unobtrusive tech, and the eyeball tracking cameras (or could be ir scanners or something to that effect, can certainly be simpler, just needs to be able to triangulate eyeball position) together could allow for a far deeper usefulness and integration in our daily lives, without the drawbacks. At least this is as far as I've theory crafted, what you y'all think about this?

Honestly these would be perfect with the following *options* added in software: - Notification pop-up only for selected apps or contacts, so you don't get the little icon for everything, but maybe only a few priority contacts. - No need to look up to see the notification when it first comes through (and it fades into the 'look up view' after 5-6 seconds)... If you're driving or at work, you don't want to be looking up and away from what you're doing just to see if something is important or not. And if you want to see the message again, you can look up. - Always On HUD (time, etc.) without looking up.

I give it max 5 years. In 5 years or less I can see most people owning a pair as long as 3 things happen, 1: better software features/software customizability they need to let people have a way to mess with what exactly pops up on screen and why 2: The price needs to come down and I think 5 years is enough time to see that happen, and of course the complete opposite can happen in 5 years which would suck lol and it would severely stop it from becoming mainstream 3: frame design, they are a glasses company so I'm sure they're already working on adding this tech to the most popular frames but it is one of the more important aspects especially since it's where they need to start if they want to expand the lineup I'm honestly really excited because this doesn't look like some really bad concept tech glasses that you see companies come out with, these are deadass almost perfect and I'm definitely going to keep my eye on them
@thespectaclefactory
@thespectaclefactory 10 күн бұрын
I'm sure the product will improve more and more over time, but one thing I'm certain of is the price isn't going to come down. They are already the same price as a lot of high end frames despite offering lots more, and they really are cheap for the build quality and functionality. ER will not be profiting much from each pair

All I can do is trust that they are pricing things accordingly, my hope is that the overall world economy gets better in 5 years to hopefully shave off some of the material cost, I do understand that most of the cost is in the labor but with a better economy hopefully I'd be making more money or at the very least the money that I am making now should stretch farther than it currently is making purchasing the product less of a luxurious decision or even making the decision a no brainer...that is if it becomes widely accepted into the main stream

I do hope they use "left", "right", "straight on" and such... Using "North", "South" etc is totally useless to me, as I have no idea where "North" or "South" is, while I am perfectly capable of deciding what is left and what is right...

What do you think about eyewear by david beckham? Ive been searching for a good brand available in PolandIm looking to buy new frames and ive seen you recommend them among some other brands in the video about luxoticca and safilo. Will they be a good choice for the price (about 200 euro)

How do we get the option for progressive lenses. I ordered a pair to see close up. I usually wear readers and I'm afraid the single perscription is going to make far away objects blurry. I really need progressive lenses. How much does that cost?

Yeah that's not going to work. If you have presbyopia, you must get these glasses with progressive lenses. You can order through us, just email hello@thespectaclefactory.com

I have both the Frame and the G1. The Frame feels cheaply made, with a single small display that is barely visible. It lacks the advertised live translation feature and provides inaccurate object identification. Additionally, the customer support for the Frame has been terrible. I’ve decided to return the Frame and keep the G1. I almost returned the G1 as well due to the $44.90 fee for 10 hours of translation service. However, after the software update, I was able to claim lifetime translation service for free. The G1 is well-made with a cool design, but it has a few drawbacks: slow responsiveness when using AI features and the lack of a camera to support object identification.

Assuming you mean the G1 and sunclip? Because the frame *is* the G1...

You didn’t talk about the app and phone integration with the glasses. You didn’t show how it works.
