So cool, Love it! Have just tried it and I hope I could share not just our child's laughter but also mine. I really enjoyed it myself. Stay at home mom here and staying alone with him for 1 year and 5 mos, hubby is at home only on weekends. I'm not fond of going out coz of the chattering neighbors, and often exhausted to talk or play with him. Felt guilty that he was not yet talking words. Just learned that he's already using these onomatopoeia. Have lot of fun trying these other words. Not boring at all!

Thank you for your videos. They've been so helpful! My little boy adores the end of this video. We watch it a lot. He laughs and laughs and now he can say "oooh" and "wheeee" - two sounds he didn't have before watching this. So thank you! We would love some more videos aimed at toddlers like this one.

This is so true, I have had the greatest accidental success with my little guy repeating uh-oh, vroom, and a few other more spontaneous sounds and phrases. I didn't realize it was a method- I will definitely start being intentional with them moving forward.

Thank you for this video you’re teaching me so much! My son is 14 months. He has only a few words in his vocabulary. Dada, bye and yay. I repeats words really well but doesn’t use them on his own and I’ve been trying to get him to say mama for months now😫. Thanks again for the video

Plenty of time to help!! Play play play! :) research shows us that kids have to hear a word 30-40 times to make the correlation between the object; unless it’s learned in play, then it only takes 10!!! you can do it! Hang in there!

Thank you so much for your videos I have been binge watching a lot of them for two days now since I found your channel they're so so helpful! My younger daughter (2 yo) is stuck at those sounds you showed in this video, she picked them from her older sister. There's a lot of miaowing too, since they like to play pretend cats a lot. But other than that she only has the "mama", "daddy", "pee" and "wash" words and I really want to work on developing more actual words or approximations before she starts kindergarten. So thank you again your videos are so helpful even though we're not english speaking I am trying to adapt your advices to get her to try more sounds and eventually combine them into words!

Thank you for these videos. My son will be evaluated by early intervention in a few weeks, but in the mean time I've been attempting to use some of these great tips you provide through these videos. My son is 17 months old and he says mama, up, and yay pretty consistently with appropriate context. However, he used to say dada, quack, yum, and oink appropriately but I haven't heard these words in a month. Also, he will say "E-I-E-I-O" often and randomly. When I play with him, I say wow a lot and now it seems like he's saying that more often, randomly, and sometimes in the appropriate context. Any advice on how to respond/not response when he says "E-I-E-I-O" or "wow" often and randomly.

Hey there! Thanks for the info! That is great news that he has some functional vocabulary! Sounds like he also is loving the onomatopoeias! I would draw attention to the fact that he said it and be overly excited! “YES! EIEIO! WOW! Nice talking!!” “YAY! You said WOW! Way to go!!” Some kids at first might give you the stink eye, but with enough repetition it should help encourage and motivate him to get your overly excited response!

My four year old has speech delay. She can not pronounce consonants like f b p m but she does say nana (mama), daddy, ice and other simple words. Sometimes her pronunciation isn’t clear enough for others to understand. Most of all we are really struggling with consonants.

What can I do if my child is having trouble with 'w' and 'l' sounds? They tend to use the 'y' sound for 'w'.
@TheSpeechScoop
@TheSpeechScoop 4 жыл бұрын
For /w/ check their lip strength- and I have a video for /sh/ and /ch/ sounds (which would be the same movement for /w/ so maybe check that out - and if their lips are not going out to a purse (like when giving you a kiss) or for the /w/ sound, help their lips go out, practice blowing bubbles, practice saying “shhhh” practice giving mommy kisses & leaving lip marks on a mirror, things like that to help with tongue strength! If I don’t have a video on /l/ yet - I will make one- check out my oral motor video / lip tongue exercises - that will also help for /l/!

Any tips on how to get my son to say a word I definitely know he knows. Like “buh bye” but won’t say it even after trying for 10 minutes.
@TheSpeechScoop
@TheSpeechScoop 3 жыл бұрын
Have you tried NOT saying it when you normally would say it or prompt him to say it?! Like just waving & being quiet?! Sometimes this will encourage him to fill in a blank bc he knows what is usually said & will create that opportunity without pressure!!

How would you suggest approaching a toddler with stage fright or confidence issues? I don't think my daughter has any hallmarks of autism except having no words at 19 months. Her best babbling time is when she sees herself in a mirror, but when I go to give her praise, she gets self-conscious and stops. When we're reading a book and she sees a circle, she taps the circle and traces it with her finger (imitating what I do when I point out circles), but when I say "Yes! It's a circle! Very good!" She will stop. And when I ask "Where is the circle?" She will look at it and start to raise her hand but chicken out and whine like she isn't sure. I have been trying a few of your methods from other videos, and she'll smile for a bit but then stage fright kicks in again
@TheSpeechScoop
@TheSpeechScoop 3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I will use a sillier approach like when you see a circle, say “oh look! A square!” Or “I see a....dog!! Right?!” When it’s a cow- and she if she will respond to this! lol sometimes kids look at me like I’m crazy & shake their head or say “nooooo! Cow!” & I say, “whaaaaatt?! No way!” In a silly voice! & that lets their guard down enough for them to start the interaction at that point! Let me know if you try this!!
