Funny, funny, funny! That last back projection shot is ridiculously out of scale...which is fine.

I believe Hal Roach wanted them to be a female version of Laurel and Hardy. From the way they act, I'd say Thelma is "Olllie" and Zasu is "Stan".

@@radicalross7700 Interesting observation! I just recently read about Thelma Todd's tragic passing at age 29 from carbon monoxide poisoning in December 1935. Zasu lived for another nearly 30 years and was 12 years older than Thelma as I recall. Thank you for sharing, sir. Appreciate it.

@@billsomody6928 If I may make another observation: Am I the only one who thinks Ms. Pitts looked and sounded almost like a live action version of Olive Oyl?

@@Richard-t7q1f Boozhoo, user. I watched all of their shows,I think it was Tubi. And yes, you're right, they are very funny. I love to watch expression comedy. Like stan laurel, Buster Keaton. These ladies have that too. I wouldn't mind owning their d v d collection. Good call..

Thelma died in 1935, time tends to forget the many excellent actors and actresses.

@@Richard-t7q1f Sadly Thelma Todd died a few days later under very mysterious circumstances. She had known to hangout with dangerous men with criminal pasts. Some like Groucho Marx believed she was murdered.

They were both famous back in the day. Zasu Pitts last film was "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World " back in the 60's.

Note the bruises on Zasu's legs, most likely from doing all those stunts, such as the saddle acrobatics, etc. Great clip! What amazing entertainment that is so rare to see nowadays. Thank you
@rossdelain16453 ай бұрын
Nobody ever thought to get the continuity right, they could have just thought to have shot the scene on the saddle last, but obviously they didn't plan things accordingly.

I'm not surprised, the way they throw themselves into the work. Probably had a lot of falls rehearsing/filming the treadmill scene. When Thelma throws the guy into the mud bath, it sure looks like his head goes right into the wall!

I think that Hal Roach owned about a dozen records and used them as music beds for all of his movies. Little Rascals, this one, and others.

The Great Depression is raging, Threats of war are just starting. The theater cost, maybe 2 or 3 cents. The news reels just played with all the bad news. Then the comedy plays.
