From Phillips H. Lord's popular NBC radio series comes an intriguing "legal film noir" filled with double-crosses and unusual twists--starting in the opening reel when a woman is slain in her apartment to an escaped killer, and the paper prints that the alive-and-well girlfriend (Marguerite Chapman) of a local crime boss was the victim!
Director: Robert B. Sinclair
Stars: Dennis O'Keefe, Adolphe Menjou, Marguerite Chapman, Michael O'Shea, George Coulouris, Jeff Donnell

I just love these old movies! No nudity, vulgarity,or other filth! These kind of movies can't be beat!! I love the style of clothing of this era Women looked so neat in their beautiful Taylor's suits and matching hats while the men looked so handsome in their neatly tailored suits, hats, and neatly styled hair cuts!! Give me an old black and white movies like this one any time! These movies always have a good plot which make them so interesting.Keep 'em coming!

In Chicago they're doing this crazy body positivity thing by cycline while naked. So I made a comment about my disdain about it..Somebody older than I am who lives in Cali said, I "I'm glad they dared". What's daring about that? Stupidity is rampant.

I’m delighted that So-Many of Us love good-films, regardless of age (the Viewer’s OR the Film’s) - for the stories, acting, directing, cinematography, producing, etc; empty, billion-dollar ‘block-busters’ don’t satisfy a huge-majority of Viewers!

Exactly right. The screenwriters of 60-80 years ago had read more books and were much better at writing original stories and telling a spellbinding tale well... Notice how eventful this film is, in just 82 minutes! The writing is spare and the editing wastes no frames to tell you how much time has passed... You have to pay attention to the film as it unfolds and it keeps you on the edge of your seat, then winds it down just as quickly as it started. No prologue needed, no epilogue needed. All highly efficient.

I enjoyed this movie, but I don't think that we should be blind to the fact that Hollywood has always made propaganda films, even though it may be subtle. What do I mean? In this film the DA is such a selfless, warrior saint for the cause of justice that it is ridiculous. In real life DA's are in it for the power and they take advantage of that power, one way or the other.

Great film- suspense, drama, wit, etc. plus great acting. I like the little touches, such as Mr. Franz showing his dead son's WWII picture and fighting bad guys the way his son fought Nazis. As Mr. Franz dies, he knocks his boy's picture off as he falls- they put some thought into that tiny detail. Now I have to get back to EBay- when I saw the killer dame with dress clips, I decided to buy some after years of wanting some. I love the way they used to dress back then, and Tina Louis did the gowns for this one. She and the rest of the crew did their work well so we can sit back and enjoy seeing life in our Country before it all got so crazy. (04Apr23) I'm grateful to them and for this post.

Wonderful film noir, the most enjoyable I've seen in a while. I hate to nitpick but no one raised the point about who clubbed Craig after Steve socked him on the jaw (??) Also, (this is debatable) but did Marsha actually confess while Craig and Harrington were listening on the hidden microphones (?) She said to Steve "...suppose I did all the things you say I did.......... why did I do them, because I love you....." IMO, not the most ironclad confession.
