Steve had such a heart of gold with his hateful uncle. The basket lunch raffle and dance were something fun I've never seen. It was a nice twist to see the other guy help Steve out. This is a keeper. Thanks!!

Corniest flick I ever did see, and I couldn’t help but smile for all the good hearted behavior it’s harder to run across in this (infernal) age of computers, inter-webs, and processed and pesticide ridden food and water.

This movie is basically so innocent it's had to believe it was filmed in 1940. But then the world was in turmoil with war raging in Europe. Perhaps that is the reason behind this film, to give a sense of some stability to the American audience. Lots of other speculations on my part but too long to write here. America entered WWll in 1941 with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Still I could not believe this was filmed in '40. but at 53.11 there is a young woman at the dance wearing a sophisticated dress that looks like an Elsa Schiaparelli. Any fashionistas out there? what do you think? (I admit it's unlikely any fashionista would watch the movie that far, but hey, I did.) Schiaparelli was involved with the Surrealist movement, one of my favorite periods in art). The Schiaparelli dress makes 1940 a feasible year for this film.

Yes old lady buys house plants 🪴 for company and now have to spray with pesticides and fungicide-what happened with the good old manure to fix it-cow ,chicken and horse manure!!
