In Russian metro, the lights in the tunnels are constantly switched on during the first months since the opening. Eventually they switch them off. Not sure about Athens, but might be the case, too.

@@tomv3361 All trains do have headlights. You realize that long tunnels on highways have lights on as well. Do you want lights on the tunnels and inside the train turn off leaving all passengers discomfort?

It’s also similar to Milan’s M4 and M5 lines, Thessaloniki’s metro is actually also operated by Milan’s transport company :)

Aside Milan's M4 & M5, Copenhagen Metro, the company (Hitachi-Ansaldo STS) have also same train in Brescia Metro in Italy, Saudi's Women University (2-cars only), HART in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA; & Taipei Metro Circular Line (yellow).

Kinda does, except that Copenhagen metro doesn't have loops on each ends, unlike Thessaloniki metro. All metro trains in Copenhagen just switch ends after terminating at end stations, well except the M3 which just travels in a circular. However after doing a full loop, the M3 may become M4. Thessaloniki metro appears to be entire underground, just like the M3 in Copenhagen. However I noticed the tunnels on the Thessaloniki metro has similar lighting to the tunnels used by older M1 & M2, albeit they're yellow fluorescent lights instead. M3 & M4 just use boring LED bulbs and the tunnels are darker. Unlike Thessaloniki metro, Copenhagen metro still use older trains as well, they're only found on M1 & M2. The current models are also found on M1 & M2.

Stations are a bit close together but I suppose the city is not very big. Anyway it looks fantastic, well done Greece!

Ce métro a été construit par la France Alstom nous avons exactement la même technologie à Paris, je reconnais le système des portes automatiques ainsi que la logistique à bord du train ! C’est très très bien pour la Grèce

these trains are by Hitachi and Ansaldo Breda the platform screen door technology is not proprietary to Alstom and it looks the same basically everywhere

I've noticed that the trains got choked during the first day of operations (probably quieter now though) but I do wonder if the stations are deliberately longer than the trains so they can add an additional car of two to the trains if it proves necessary in the future, it seems there's enough space if so that's incredible future proofing from the engineers!

I haven't counted the cars actually but yeah there's a small "gap" in the stations. I think it has to do with the future extensions of the line and as you said, the possibility to add a car or order bigger trains

Поясніть хто знає, дя чого потрібні ті прямокутні отвори над тунелем на початку, та наприкінці платформи? Вони йдуть лише до другого рівня, чи аж назовні?

Γιατί κάποιες σηραγγες έχουν μονές ράγες; Στην Αθήνα νομίζω ότι πάντα οι συρμοί πηγαίνουν σε σήραγγες με δύο ράγες

Η κατασκευή του, προέβλεπε σταθμούς με αποβάθρες "απέναντι" η μια στην άλλη, εξού και η μονή γραμμή στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος της διαδρομής. Χρόνια πολλα!

​@@trainsandbusesofathens όχι μόνη γραμμη στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος της σήραγγας, αλλά μονή γραμμη ΣΕ ΟΛΟ ΤΟ ΜΗΚΟΣ της σήραγγας. Τα 3 σημεία που οι γραμμές συναντουνται, λίγο μετά τον σιδηροδρομικο σταθμό, λίγο μετά το πανεπιστήμιο και λίγο μετά την ανάληψη, είναι cross overs και χρησιμοποιούνται μονο σε περιπτώσεις που υπάρχει λόγος ο συρμός να μεταφερθεί στην αλλη τροχιά για κάποιον λόγο. Όχι για φυσιολογική λειτουργεια.

I don't know about Thessaloniki, but these trainsets are capable to reach 90km/h. Older models were limited to 80km/h.

​@@automation7295 another video the guy who was recording mentioned that it peaks at 80 for Thessaloniki might be 90 and he's just going off of the older specs though

Look this subway system really isn't effective or actually helpful for most people but the fact you can go from one end of the city to the other in just 21 minutes is actually a miracle. Before you would have to change like ten buses to travel this distance and it could require like an hour, even if you had a car. The subway has actually helped shorten the distances in Thessaloniki quite a lot. It simply doesn't have enough lines so it motivates people to actually use it. It's mostly empty in the majority of its stations aside from one or two.

Το πιθανότερο είναι για τήρηση χρονοαποστασεων μεταξύ των συρμών, και γενικότερα για λόγους ασφαλείας. Μερικές φορές, λόγω απόστασης μεταξύ σταθμών, ο συρμός δεν προλαβαίνει να αναπτύξει καν μέγιστη ταχύτητα.

@@trainsandbusesofathens δεν ξέρω, έχω βίντεο από την 1 και 2 μέρα και έκανε δημοκρατίας βενιζελου, σε 65 δεύτερα και τώρα το κάνει σε 82 και γενικά πλέον δεν έχει καθόλου γρήγορη επιτάχυνση, δηλαδή αν ακούσεις τον θόρυβο του συρμού πλέον είναι πιο αργό αυτό το «τσιριγμα»που κάνει όταν ξεκινάει

@ ας πούμε ειδικά τώρα Νέα Ελβετία-βουλγαρη κάνει 100 ώρες ενώ πριν το γκαζόνε και πατούσε απότομα φρένο και έφτανε σφαίρα

@@NikiPapadopoulos μπορεί απλώς να συνέβη. Πάντως 4 μέρες από τα εγκαίνια και μέχρι τις 3/12 που βρισκόμουν Θεσσαλονίκη και χρησιμοποίησα μετρό πολλές φορές, ο χρονος αναμονής και διαδρομής ήταν ο προβλεπόμενος

@ μέχρι τρίτη πήγαινε φουλ τέλεια, από τότε κάνει κάνα σίγουρα 24 λεπτά από την αρχή μέχρι το τέρμα ενώ έλεγαν 17.5. Πάντως εγώ το παίρνω κάθε μέρα από παπαφη μέχρι Βενιζέλου, έκανα 5.5 λεπτά και τώρα κάνω 8-9 λεπτά

The stations are very close, so the train cannot go too fast. Between stations on the Azerbaijani subway, it is better that the train can go fast😊.

Copenhagen metro also have stations close, but the trains are faster. M1 & M2 are limited to 80km/h, while M3 & M4 are limited to 90km/h.

​@@xristos5002Τα εν λόγω σημεία εκ των μηχανικών είναι και στις σήραγγες της Αθήνας. Υπάρχουν για σημαντικές τομές στις σήραγγες καθώς και για σημείωση των χιαστών των ραγών.

I think it goes a bit slower because the stations are so close to each other. So there's no time to speed more.

Stations are close to each other actually so there are times that the train can't reach its full speed. The braking is actually a bit uneven and horrible (😂) but they'll fix it I suppose by the beginning of the new year

*τα Τέμπη Δεν μπορώ να καταλάβω γιατί τα συγκρίνουμε όλα. Διακλαδώσεις υπάρχουν από την πρώτη κατασκευή σιδηροδρομικού δικτύου στον κόσμο. Επίσης, το μετρό είναι το ασφαλέστερο μέσο σταθερής τροχιάς παγκοσμίως αυτή τη στιγμή. Αν υπάρχει τέτοιος φόβος, μην το χρησιμοποιείτε. Υπάρχουν εναλλακτικοί τρόποι μετακίνησης.

πρεπει να τα συγκρίνουμε γιατί τα τεμπι δεν ειναι η πρώτη φορα ουτε η τελευταία που εχει γινει, εχει ξαναγινει στο παρελθόν και θα ξαναγίνει γιατι μυαλο δεν βαζουνε ετσι ειναι η νοοτροπ του ελληναρα
