Trains and infrastructure 100 % made in Italy...trains from Hitachi Rail Pistoia and Reggio Calabria plants+ infrastructural works executed by Webuild S.p.A , Rome...the metro is as Greek as the prosecco..😂

The point is who this metro is servicing. The rest is not really important. Greece doesn't really have big industries anyway@@andreadimarzo6662

As a citizen of Thessaloniki that will be boarding the metro often, I want to ask if once you buy a ticket you need to validate it on the metro.
@BestravelvideoАй бұрын
Since on these first days they did not sell tickets so we can see how we use them, we only have to assume that we will have to validate when we enter and then exit the station.
@demilove56Ай бұрын
At least in Athens when we buy a ticket we don't have to use it right away if we don't need to take the metro that time. We can keep it. We validate it when we enter the station to use the metro (we have the exact same gates so there might be a similar validation system)

In Australia, we have Opal cards, which we top up automatically or via machine. Single tickets are available also. Beautiful metro for BeautifulGreece. Bravo!
@demilove5628 күн бұрын
@@Mary-xc2gu In Athens we have something similar (forgot to mention), we call it Athena Card. If it contains the passenger's identity (there are also anonymous ones that someone cann top them up only on the machines), it can be either topped up in machines or at home using NFC on the phone. Monthly or yearly tickets can also be used on the Athena Card. I hope they did something similar in Thessaloniki. One way tickets can also be topped up again for environmental reasons.

Is it stroller friendly if I travel with smal children?
@BestravelvideoАй бұрын
There are lifts in every station leading all the way to the platforms but in the first day we personally witnessed that some were not working. We can only suppose that this was something temporal and they have fixed it by now.
@emmaDurakovichАй бұрын
@Bestravelvideo thanks for you fast answer I am planning to go to Thessaloniki during Christmas with 2 small children hope I can be able to ride the metro 🙂
@BestravelvideoАй бұрын
The good thing with the elevators of Thessaloniki's metro is that you can use one lift directly from the ground to the platform and the opposite. You only have to use one lift. There's no mid-platform changing and this makes it convenient for parents or elders.

Because Thessaloniki is an ancient city and in every square metre they dug up, archaeological discoveries were found so the work stopped in order for the archaeologists to remove safely the finds
@phi32pАй бұрын
It was 18 years not 20 learn how to count plus the delays where due to archeological finds, in fact the whole ancient city was beneath the stations. Also why your country needed more than 30 years to build an airport in Berlin? As for eu money, most of them are from greek taxpayer.
@Wonder478Ай бұрын
They had to dig up a whole ancient city mate which i believe would take decades even for Germany. And if you want to talk about years let's talk about Germany's Stuttgart 21 project which is being paid for years by German taxpayers.
