It's all about getting noticed as well, that is a big part. So many great channels out there but they don't blow up. So many channels today are resorting to drama and just a bunch of BS to get clicks and views, not my style but I am seeing more and more of that type of thing. One last thing, youtube isn't going to be around forever so I wouldn't give up your day job as you still have to have a pension/healthcare all of those years later:)

To the 2 points you made at the beginning about the algorithm and rates per view in the U.S.A as opposed to someone from another country. There is a separate channel that has all my songs, but it can only be seen in the U.S.A. People in other countries cannot see it without using proxytube. I'm not alone in this as froggyfresh, my fatal pride and others have this same problem. Also, have you noticed that more often than not a preroll advertisment will play just fine, but the video will sometimes buffer or load slow/not play?

I loved that Ferrari 512 BBi. I saw the nose in the background of the Porsche 959 segment and kept thinking... "Please... please show the 512... come on... pan around.... YES!" :) lol Anyway, for me, due to my DJ business, my full-time job, family, etc... finding the time to film, edit, & post content is hard. If I had fewer obligations, though, I also wonder if I would run out of subject matter to vlog about.

Me too! I've always loved the design of the Ferrari 512BB. Especially the contrast between the black and red paint. A real mans car.
@djdrewthomas8 жыл бұрын
I didn't like the two tone paint initially, but it has grown on me. :) lol My favorite has always been the Testarossa, then a tie with the 512 BB/BBi and 308. I'm a sucker for the 80's and 90's Ferrari models... Magnum P.I. and Miami Vice :) lol
@TractorTrailerWorld8 жыл бұрын
Miami Vice used a kit car that looked like a Ferrari Daytona and then dubbed the engine sounds of a Porsche 928. It did look nice though.
@djdrewthomas8 жыл бұрын
I knew the black Daytona was a McBurnie replica on a Vette, but I hadn't heard about the audio dubbing. Very interesting... learned something new today. :) As you probably know, the white Testarossa in later seasons was an authentic factory Ferrari, but the Testarossa stunt car was a replica built on a Pantera. There was a pretty interesting write-up in Popular Mechanics magazine back in the day.

This is a topic I've been struggling with myself. It seems like the channels that have the biggest following and make the most money are the comedy and beauty tip channels. They don't cost nearly as much to make. We car guys have to travel a lot to get the best footage. We have to pay admission to events, food, gas, lodging, ect. It's pretty tough to get the best footage by staying local, unless you live in an area where every supercar is. I make a decent chunk of cash every month, but I think it's very risky to depend on KZbin as your only source of income. Thank you for this video!

Pewdiepie made 7m last year as the highest paid youtuber. The fact of the matter is, car guys are a much smaller audience than let's say video gamers. What amateur car vloggers suffer from is that casual fans are so used to shows like Top Gear, and that they want nothing less. The hardcore car guys will always have time for TheStradman and the like, unfortunately the audience viewing numbers ebbs and flows quite severely.

is it only "views" that pay, or must the subscriber base also be high? e.g. will a channel with a subscriber base of say 2000 with a video that has accumulated 3 million views pay less than say 3 million views with a subscriber base of 250.000? And thx for the explantion, it was somehow refreshingly genuine (so it seemed) and pleasant and informative to watch. Thank you.

That's why many vloggers wear sunglasses... not because they think they are "too cool", but so that the audience doesn't notice them looking at the LCD screen all the time. By looking at the LCD regularly, it helps the vlogger see how the final video will look to the viewers... is it in focus, is the lighting bright enough, is the subject or vlogger centered on screen, etc. Plus, people often have a tendency to look at a face in a conversation... and our own face on the LCD is the face we see most often while vlogging. :) lol It is a hard habit to break.
@tawilk8 жыл бұрын
it's not about views, it 's about the adds. how many actually watch them, how long they are, are they skipped, the % time of them watched, are they clicked on as a follow through, etc. it's usually fractions of pennies (USD) for a full ad watch.

Thanks for answering the question. I know YT doesn't like content owners to give specifics. But I like how you danced around the issue. And I like how you kept focusing on and encouraging everyone to make great content. That's what gets the views and thus the $$$. But consistently getting that many views... yikes... At last, someone's posted a video saying this and mentioning countries, time of year and other factors. Seems other speakers on this never mention that yet claim to be experts! Thank heavens someone actually knows what they're talking about. Btw, I've said the same so many times in comments on YT over the past few months. Another channel of mine had 90K views for something, it made just about enough for a couple of Happy Meals and a shake. x10 to nearly a million and the income would've been just about enough to pay for budget video editing software. It's exactly as you said it, TS. KZbinrs such as myself don't even think about the income because it's less than the average from clipping a supermarket coupon :) Edited to add: probably some of _the_ best advice to YTers anywhere w/ a refreshing yet concise low-down for a change, plus gorgeous cars well photographed. Very pleased I came across your video at random when browsing - thank you!

It just boggles that there are these kinds of exotics in city centers like this. These owners must just be egomaniacs that crave attention, as these cars are not easy or fun to drive in this environment. Even if I was a billionaire, I couldn't park a $3 million dollar car on the street.
@andreairplane8 жыл бұрын
It's just a car. Stop being so judgmental. When women wear uncomfortable heels you don't call them egomaniacs that crave attention. Further more "easy" and "fun to drive" are matters of opinion. Has it crossed your mind, while you were sitting there judging people you've never met in you're life, that it may be easy and fun to drive to them? At the end of the day, it's just a car, an expensive car, but a car none the less. A car is made to drive and that's what they are doing with them. If you wouldn't drive there or park your car on the street, well that just shows that you're more superficial than they are :)

I wonder if KZbin adjusts earnings per view based on users like me who use ad blockers. I don't see any ads on any youtube channel I watch on my computer and honestly I have every intention of keeping it that way if I can. Surely youtube can detect when a user isn't be shown an ad which would eliminate their desire to pay you for me viewing your video.
