Here in europe hyundai has just updated the i30n that has the same engine as the Veloster (we don't get the Veloster in Europe sadly). They bumped up the hp from 275 to 280, but most importantly you get peak torque for more time and you can push the engine more, while the old 275 bhp engine tends to run out of puff higher in the rev range. It's one of the best driver's car on the market for the price (maybe not so much in Canada, though). However, Hyundai has done a really poor job with their dealer/service network for this car, at least in the US. Dealers know nothing about it and techs have very limited knowledge on just how drastically different this is from their other cars (save the i30N and Elantra N, which they also know nothing about.) Hyundai USA was pretty clueless as to this car even existing for its first 8 months. I assume this is probably pretty typical with any company that isn't a performance company that launches a new performance division, but Hyundai currently has a lot of growing pains in their service capacity with this car. They made a great car, but they are still trying to figure out how to have great after sales service, and this is a major downside that reviewers almost never discuss.

People doubting Hyundai should drive this car. It is an absolute BEAST. For $35k (US), you get more fun than a Civic Type-R, which costs more (and EVEN MORE with the ridiculous markups). Not to mention it doesn't sound like a Dyson vacuum cleaner (cough cough Type-R). Having driven one, out of 40 cars I've reviewed in total, this by far is the BEST car I have EVER driven. It handles like a dream, it's literally a pocket rocket (its unsuspectingly quick), the tuning of the exhaust note, everything about it feels hot hatch but doesn't tell you it's a child's design like the Type-R. The Veloster N is more subtle, and that's what I absolutely love about it. Subtlety. Until you hear that exhaust note 😂

Okay Hyundai, what's the deal with not having that color in the US. How come Canada gets it and we don't?

I think the Velosters 3 door design would be a good concept for a crossover. 3dr crossover would be kind of cool

Crossovers are made for families. Unfortunately a 3 door would be completely impractical for a family with children.

@@doloresberry3144 that is why a 3dr crossover wouldn't be targeted to family oriented consumers and more towards consumers without children

love the front, i love the interior, those seats are nice, I like but don't love the style of the touchscreen and how its positioned. The deal breaker for me here is the ass end, and 3-door design. Make it a proper coupe, no weirdness and you've got a winner.

Lol I remember when I bought my Type R for 38k CAD. Them Type R’s are gonna be worth 60k CAD soon… I can feel it lol.
@Ace200012163 жыл бұрын
@@layne4376 I did have thoughts of selling the Type R, although I love the car too much so I personally think I wouldn’t sell the Type R. But even if I do, I doubt the fk8 Type R price would drop drastically. It all depends on how the new generation is developed… lots of controversies on an electric Type R or even being automatic etc. Lots of factors to determine the Fk8 price.

Big difference that everyone misses is that the DCT has more camber up front. -1.7 vs. -.7 for the manual. Makes a huge difference on track. The Conti Extreme Contact Force is an "Endurance 200". So while better than a summer tire, it still is not as fast as some. It is more on par with the Hankook R-S4 or the Falken RT615K+. FWIW, the Elantra N has fixed the location of the NGS button. Still has the same stupid name, but it is more easy to locate on the steering wheel so you don't have to hunt for it.
