Just some cool info for the N badging. The all powerful Albert Biermann, VP of engineering for BMW M in the 80's until recent when he joined Hyundai and banged life into the N models. Hyundai says "N" is for Namyang, where the product and development of the vehicle took place, and Nurburgring where the road and handling took place. Albert Biermann may have retired but you can definitely feel his seeds spread all over these cars and I can't wait to take delivery of mine and take it in the face.

The Elantra N and Veloster N possess the magic that Acura was trying to capture with the reimagined Integra.
@lancemannion41132 жыл бұрын
Difference is, the Acura will still be running like a fine-tuned watch in 10 years and will retain a much greater proportion of its original selling price. Reputation takes a long time to earn.
@brucesuitt9932 жыл бұрын
@@lancemannion4113 this isn’t the 1980s. Both Hyundai and Kia are well respected manufacturers now. You also can’t beat their warranty if you are so concerned about reliability. The new Integra is a complete joke.
@lancemannion41132 жыл бұрын
@@brucesuitt993 nobody said they weren't respected. And I'm not sure how you can say the new Acura is junk? Style is obviously very subjective but the reviews for it are solid, and Acura has a pretty consistent reputation for being an excellent driver's car - a few atrocities in styling, aside. But Honda/Acura didn't get to where they are by fluke. Hate them all you want but it'll be a while before the Koreans can truly compete in both value short-term satisfaction and long-term reliability.
@brucesuitt9932 жыл бұрын
@@lancemannion4113 I think the Koreans are already proving their reliability now. My issue with the Integra is they are charging most likely mid-30s for a 200hp tarted up civic SI. From a performance standpoint that is junk when you compare it to what Hyundai is offering in the same price range. As far as reliability, I had a 2020 RDX and that thing was plagued with infotainment issues. When it would go on the fritz I couldn't change my drive mode, use the radio or anything. The AD couldn't figure it out, so I ended up selling it.
@lancemannion41132 жыл бұрын
@@brucesuitt993 Well given the situation of your SUV, there are exceptions to every rule. Nobody bats 1000, but if you look at the history of Toyota and Honda products, even with the misses - which are rare - they still are the standard that everybody has to measure up to whether we like to believe it or not (and I'm a hardcore Ford guy!) I've had just over 80 cars in my life including a Kia Koup daily that had an absolutely horrible clutch that could never be fixed properly (once warm it would be brutal trying to shift gears) - and I basically had to dump it as the resale on these is horrible. And I even had a stock Hyundai Tiburon Genesis Coupe V6 that was only about 3 years old. And the thing squeaked and rattled to no end. I sold it with less than 100,000 km and the car felt looser than a 2002 Celica GTS I had in 2018 that had 425,000 km on it!! The Koreans build cars that give you great value for your money initially. That's their selling point. But they haven't proven themselves long-term, especially when it comes to resale. And this is where the Japanese won't lose their grip. Competition will only make them better. And I don't think it's a horrible thing rebranding a car with the loyalty and following that the Civic has. Other than the Toyota Corolla, I don't think you'll find a better small car with a better track record! Also I should mention that Hyundai and Kia had the huge engine fire issue since 2018 that affected half a million cars. They tried to bury it. But there was a W5 program up here in Canada a couple of years ago that actually talked to the people that had cars that essentially spontaneously ignited, and they had to finally fess up.... I think? But this will take a long time (for those that actually do their research) to make ground up on. Issuing recalls is one thing, but avoiding and dismissing things as serious as this can't be overlooked. On a side note, my daily driver is a 2015 Fiesta ST. And even at 7 years old this thing has been absolutely bulletproof reliable and easily one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever owned. I think people write off domestics because of their horrible track record from the 70s and '80s....they shouldn't.
