What really sells me on this car is the space (especially trunk) and comfort that really makes it the perfect Grand Tourer. It also has plenty of power that will have you faster than 98% of cars on the road

this car is more expensive than an m8 competition, less luxurious/comfortable and spacious than the m8 competition and is SLOWER and less sporty than the m8 competition. the last amg gt was at least unique with its front mid-engine, rwd layout, it was a truly dedicated sports car, but this new amg gt is really just a worse m8 competition.

FYI, new AMGs sound higher pitched inside because they play simulated induction sounds through the speakers. They started doing this when the OPF filters started getting added to the 4.0 motors

We need a head to head comparison video between this and the 911 gts. Gts I suspect would be the faster car but speed is everything to everyone. So yeah my personal opinion it would be an excellent head to head. I love both cars tho. Excellent video as always guy. Keep up the good work! BIG UPS 😊

The GTS is absolutely faster, however the AMG will be a LOT more fun, due to those 2 extra cylinders, and you have switchable RWD.

@@nqobilemahlaba2230 Yep. But they are (as intended) amazing Grand Tourers. A well-driven Porsche is going to lose me in the twisties, but I ain't racing my 400 ton S63. I am cruising (and sometimes have to let it rip). At low RPMs it is so torquey that it feels like driving an EV. An EV with an attitude. And a voice.

so everyone's clear this new AMG is now just a Front Engine "GT" car whereas the old AMG was a legit Front-Mid Engine car, so a true configuration intended for Motorsports/Racing and to compete against their Stuttgart Cousins Porsche in the 911 (which it did for the last 8 years). for example, the new $300K Mustang GTD special that just raced LeMans finishing an impressive P3/P4 in the GT3 class on it's debut ALSO uses this same "divorced" Engine/Rear Transaxle configuration expressly for an "end game" of competing against the might of the Rear Engined 911. also ref: Corvette's C7, C6, etc.

The company I drive prototypes for. We had to test and evaluate one of these. It did not stay very long because it was so hard to find anything wrong with just a V8 engine that was not a hybrid. The other Mercedes that are hybrid always tend to stay longer because we could find so much wrong with them.

Just to clarify - the “Raise Level” button DOES operate a hydraulic lift that raises the front nose by 1.2 inches if the car is equipped with it. It isn’t just the air bladder going up, it’s both, if the car is equipped with it. (I sell them!) Great review guys!

Guys I must dissapoint you, America is lucky with "base" engines. In Europe at my dealer the "base" is a 4-cyl hybrid called the GT43 coupe at about 150k EUR. the 63s is 260k EUR doe. Keeping my 2018 C43 coupe until I can afford an R8 hahaha.

I’ve had numerous AMG’s but had to make the switch over to a 911. For me, Mercedes has been missing their mark over these past few years. That 4 cylinder C63 was the end of the road for me. Speed is great, but AMG has been lacking “soul” over the years.
