Much worse than a Tesla. Jaguar is bad enough with its electronics so I don't see why anyone would buy this. This has 234 miles of range and 4.8s 0-60 for $75,000 is ridiculous. A fully loaded Model 3 Performance is $65,000 with 310 miles of range and 3.2s 0-60. The iPace makes no sense at all.

dudes, take mine! Model 3LR RWD! I drove the iPace at the autoshow and this iPace is a fantastic vehicle. Interior design/materials is substantially better than the X (IMO) and it is so comfortable to drive. The slow charging (and lack of fast charging infrastructure in general), bad usability of the interior, and limited range (for the price) is what I didn't like, but man, it was a riot to drive and quieter than my 3. EVs are inconvenient IF you can't charge at home, but waking up with a full tank of 'gas' everyday is pure joy.

I'm working on an L2 at home, and the CEO says he's going to get some more L2 chargers installed cause another guy bought a model 3 and he has a model X as well (his personal parking space has the wall charger so I use that when I can.)

I just wonder how nowadays infotainment seems to be the biggest feature in cars. I bought this Jag because of it's great to drive, comfortable and looks great. I've been driven it now 3 moths and never had any angst with "slow" infotainment. I-Pace is The Car, not a space invader and meant for drive like a JAG and not fiddle with touch screens. And CarPlay works fine.

I've not owned either brand, but definitely woke up to the possibility of an electric car after driving the I-Pace.

Seems the comments section here is swamped with Tesla fanboys. The Jaguar isn't trying to compete with any Tesla; that's why there's no direct model comparison. It's designed to compete with Audi et al. Jaguar make luxury performance cars and that's exactly what this is - the I-Pace will out-handle a Tesla any day, which is why they're being raced. On actual racetracks. With professional drivers. Dynamics is much more than how fast the car can go in a straight line. Also, fit & finish on the Jag is leagues ahead of the Tesla; there's plenty of videos on KZbin describing poor panel fit, poor paint finish on the Tesla. And please don't bang on about the I-Pace having button & switches - much more convenient and quicker to use than having to scroll-through menu options on an off-centre touchscreen. Not having a speedometer in front, and line-of sight on any vehicle is absurd. Remember that the I-Pace has just won European Can Of The Year - and the Europeans know how to make a quality motor vehicle...

Great review as always!!! Funny people usually try to compare I-Pace with Model X just because they are both marketed as “SUV”. But if you consider overall size, cargo size and number of seats, I think I-pace’s real competitor is the Model S for now, which also has a hatchback, or the Model Y in a couple of years. (fully loaded Model Y is about the same price as fully loaded I-Pace) Currently, Tesla is clearly ahead of other EV makers in battery / motor efficiency, range, charging infrastructure and acceleration. While EVs from other luxury brands surely have the upper hand in build quality and interior fit and finish. What I am curious to know is, which handles better and is more fun to drive? Hope Jacob and Yuri can find that out for us :)

I've owned a Model X for two years, and spent 30 minutes test driving the Jag. Comparing the two is just silly. As you noted in the review, the Jag isn't an SUV - it's a tall hatch back! A Model 3 is longer than an I-Pace for crying out loud! Not the same class of car. The Jag has a really nice interior, and drives well, but (trigger warning!) so does the Tesla, and once you get used to Tesla's Autopilot you just don't want to have to do without.
@TJ-fm5gi5 жыл бұрын
What does length have to do with anything? What is really strange is in some ways, such as proportions this is a more purpose-built EV than a Tesla--in that if you look at it from the side, the wheels are all the way to the corners--which is why length isn't a notable dimension here. Put another way, this is slightly shorter than a Porsche Macan, but has almost as much interior room as a Porsche Cayenne.

The outside spaceship sound is so good. In contrast the Chevy volt sounds like it has a bad fuel pump so it’s best to pull the fuse on that thing for silence.

It has Andriod Auto and Apple Carplay. You have to plug in under the center armrest. They probably connected on the usb sockets under the center display. Thoses don't support AA or CP.

In my own opinion I have been in one of the i-paces and did the 0-60 off-roading and drifting in them but I own a Tesla model X and I think with experience with both of them I think the Tesla is a little better but my dad is going to buy an I-pace anyway.

I really like the interior on the I-Pace. I've spent some time in it and enjoyed it. It feels very Jaguar. I was less in love with how it drives, but that's true of all electric cars. Yes, they're all fun and games in a straight line, but in tight corners, you can't hide the fact that they are all insanely heavy. That makes them kind of weird at the limits. Even when RWD, they want to understeer more than an equivalent sized gas car. They're more like old AWD Audi's in that regard. To get them to step out, you have to kick them in the pants harder than you'd expect or probably want to given that instant torque.

I've had one since January and Android Auto seems to Just Work when you plug in the USB. Well, occasionally it doesn't seem to notice so I have to unplug/replug, but once it's running, it runs just fine and integrates nicely. But the Here maps the car comes with are maybe a nicer experience.

The wheels on the Jag they test drove are the most expensive ones, I think they cost around 10 grand. I completely agree with you tho!

Model X is better for size, seats 7. i-Pace is prob between Model Y (seats 5 adults + 2 children) and Model 3, performance is similar but price is higher. Jag has more tactile buttons which may make it feel more premium to some, but tech with software updates is better on Teslas. $ per mile of range is better on 3 and Y, similar to S and X. Autonomy features (combined with software updates) are better on Teslas if that's your thing (and it is mine :). I like the exterior design of the jaguar, but comes at a cost in price and range. Overall really like the jaguar ..but bought the model 3

Haha we got one of these a few months ago in the exact same spec. We love ours very much. We get about 280 miles out of it on an average cold ish day with heating going etc. Although, never plug it in to an extension lead as it blew up our plug socket hahaha.

Have to say I like the look from the side of the back angle most. Me and Yuri have close to the same taste in style when it comes to Vehicles. I'm so much more connected to Yuri's thoughts on a vehicle. I do like Jacob, it's just we see and enjoy things much differently. I mean this is a guy who paid 15,000 US for a FORD that had 150,000 plus miles. I wouldn't pay 2 grand for a FORD that had over 80 thousand miles.

I've driven both I-Pace and Model X. The I-Pace shines above the X by far because of build quality and driving dynamics. The Model X has so much body roll... It's almost scary. The I-Pace is on rails. Obviously there are options on the Model X that make it go faster than the I-Pace, but then even more money. Personally, I prefer the technology and comfort of the Jaguar. But I understand some people just love that gigantic screen on the Tesla. For me? That screen is distracting and dangerous. If I had to choose? I would get the I-Pace, hands down.

Having sat in this and in the entire current Tesla range (and it's important to note that I'm a Tesla investor), I prefer the styling and interior of the Jag, but you can get a Model 3 with more range for half the price of the Jag. It's sad really because I would have the Jag over any current Tesla, but because of the absurd price, I'll likely being picking up a Model 3 when the lease on my Audi e-tron A3 is up. Also considering the new Soul EV.

Driven a Model X long term (not mine, so I'm not being biased here), and driven an iPace very briefly at the Toronto Auto Show as they were doing test-drives. Personally, I prefer the Model X for many reasons (biggest ones being the SuperCharging network (I don't think I could be without a proper SC network, especially considering the iPace has quite a bit less range), far faster, "lag free", and intuitive/well designed infotainment system, Autopilot, all the other tech goodies and gimmicks and party tricks (i.e. the huge windshield, falcon wing doors), etc. etc. But one thing that really stands out about the Jag is its looks, inside and out. I absolutely love the design of this car. Also love the sounds that it makes. I would also imagine the customer service you'd get with the Jag is vastly superior. Surprisingly, build quality is (IMO) pretty much on par with the Model X... Or at on par with the least the Model X I had; I have no clue if I just got lucky with getting a well built example.
