Couldn't disagree harder on the breakpedal. I think it's much better when it's always in sync with the virtual break position. Otherwise u press the pedal and nothing happens until the physical and virtual positions match which is super scary and weird.

A-pillar visibility is a huge safety risk especially at night. My former work truck(2010 Ford Transit) had such a huge blind spot behind the A-pillar, on at least 3 occasions I almost ran over someone I didn't see. I reported it to my company and took a picture in the parking lot demonstrating a whole Ford Explorer hiding behind it from the driver perspective.

I work at a mercedes dealership and fucking HATE the brake pedal on these. The way MB makes the pedal move itself destroys my confidence in the brakes, and completely stresses me out. A driver's connection to his brakes is sacred, I don't know what mercedes what thinking when they decided that the brake pedal would fight you and push back when you are trying to come to a stop. This thing will become a massive safety issue, guaranteed. Edit: Also, they really should have called this the EQR, because that's literally what it is. MB corporate is braindead.

I believe the brake pedal issues are mostly solved if you put the car in D- no regen mode and do all the braking manually. That's how I would drive this car personally. Also as a very long time fan and viewer and a Mercedes fan, it disaponts me that you guys don't like MBUX which in my experience is by far my favorite UI. I just think the menus are perfectly laid out for me.

MBUX is downright terrible, it feels cheap and driving a car that heavy without regen is a recipe for changing your brakes every year. Probably a 5k $/€ job. Skip the EQ MB cars is the way to go until they figure things out. If they don’t soon, well RIP MB!

I have a plug-in hybrid (which has a twin-charged petrol engine: turbo and super charged) and I just wanted to say: if you do lots of short journeys and few long ones - maybe give it a try. I get perfect silence around town, and a nice(ish) engine noise when I floor it - so I feel like it's best of both worlds. These days people are down on PHEVs but I think they suit certain usage really well. Like petrol-heads who also appreciate quiet local trips. XC90 T8 (2016) w/Polestar (400hp approx, 500 ft-lbs torque/680Nm) - paid about £29k UK w/93k miles.

Mercedes has had subscriptions for car services for years now. The only difference is that now they're applying it to hardware features and not just software. In my 2019 A Class you need to keep paying for: - Remote (by app) door locking/unlocking - Geofencing - Speedfencing - Valet Parking Minder - Live Traffic Information - Online Map Updates - Parked Vehicle Locator - Petrol Station prices - Weather Map The list goes on and on. You can also pay a hefty amount to get basic wired Android Auto and Car Play unlocked (and it's not even fullscreen).

Really liked a lot of things about this car...right up until you mentioned the subscription thing. Even if I had the money, I'd go for something else just because of that. The augmented reality HUD and NAV on this thing are fantastic and, like you said, I could almost seen paying for OTA updates because roads and maps change, etc. But the rest? Nope! They can keep it. The fact that more and more companies think it's okay to do this is worrying from a car enthusiast perspective. I hope people just stop purchasing those cars until the companies realize they're pissing off their customer base with the subscription BS.

I own EQS SUV and love it. I disagree with the opinions of these guys. I paid 134,000 and strongly recommend it
