When you eventually get to the "Servants of the scourge" track, I highly recommend you instead listen to the "Devourer of gods nonstop mix" Which is a bunch of the OST songs put together in one big 14 minute long track. These songs go from Servants of the scourge - Universal Collapse

Take note of the bells in this soundtrack; these are the Bells of Calamity, and you'll hear them a lot going forward. Whenever you hear their chime, it means the being they play for is one to be feared and respected, that it is a powerful creature of great importance.

in Old Duke's theme there can be heard the different kind of bells, the lower-pitched ones. They do in fact indicate that this mortal being is not to be underestimated as a mortal that is you (Terrarian), yet the sound doesn't "shine the godly power" in it. Raw, metal, battle of strength

When you react to the tracks "servants of the scourge", "scourge of the universe", and "universal collapse", I would suggest listening to the nonstop mix instead. It's quite long, but it flows all of the tracks together.

An interesting point of some of the music that comes in later on in the soundtrack, and this is only explicitly seen in “roar of the jungle dragon”, is that they almost feel like the boss theme is not for the boss, but rather for the player who is fighting the boss. The roles reverse somewhere, the whole thing of “im not stuck in here with you, you’re stuck in here with me” type of deal. I find it interesting.

Calamitas being the mascot of the mod and the fact that you technically fight it twice (and its the last boss as well) deserves this absolute banger from DM Dokuro. Fun little List of Motifs here Guardian of the Former Seas / Outcast of the Sulphurous Seas (Desert Scourge / Aquatic Scourge) are remade into the song's introduction. Blood Coagulant (The Perforators) can be heard at 1:01, but is rarely acknowledged as it is very subtle in the song's background. Antarctic Reinforcement (Cryogen) plays at 1:53 into the song. 1NF3$+@+!0N (Crabulon) plays at 3:01. Return to Slime (The Slime God) plays at 3:23. The Filthy Mind (The Hive Mind) plays at 3:56. Left Alone (Brimstone Elemental) plays at 4:32.

3:24 you can hear the “slime leitmotif” which you already heard in “Return to the Slime” track and you will hear in multiple tracks: -Interstellar Stomper(Astrum Aureus’ Theme) -Cosmic Disgust(Astrageldon’s Phase 1 Theme) -Galactic Destruction(Astrageldon’s Phase 2 Theme) It all connects to the Astrageldon which is a Galactic Black Hole Slime that devours planets and galaxies. It’s even superior than Slime God.

While I'm not quite a fan of the mod itself, I absolutely *love* DM DOKURO's work and it feels great seeing it be so greatly appreciated to an extent most of the people that listen to it wouldn't be able to I really can't wait to see the reaction to later tracks like "Fly of Beelzebub", "Universal Collapse", and of course "Roar of the Jungle Dragon" and "Stained, Brutal Calamity" Buut, I have a feeling these are gonna be uploaded in more or less order of the bosses in the mod, and not jumping straight to the few final bosses, which is great! Starting off the Leitmotif of Infestation plays as a call back to how Calamitas evaporated the ocean that Crabulon lived in. That’s the in game desert, thats why the Sunken Sea is underneath the desert. The call back to the main theme is actually the main theme foreshadowing that moment. Because thats the turning point in the game when things actually start to progress in the Calamity mod. To me the Calamity bells are a heralding to the journey to come and the obstacles the player will face. As in the mod the bells become more prevalent the further down the soundtrack that you go since the further down the more difficult the bosses become. So to me the Calamity bells serve as a herald calling for your triumph to you but to the boss, heralding your defeat.

I imagine the ‘Astral’ themes (those being Astrum Aureus and Astrum Deus’s themes) don’t have the Calamity bells is because they’re otherworldly so the concept of gods and godlike beings don’t exist to the infection so there is no reason for them to understand or have nods to it

Listening to the OST again via this video, and also seeing your happiness and amazement whilst listening to it reminds me of my sadness I felt when I heard DM Dokuro stopped for the Calamity Mod. He did stop with a good reason though, the spoiled section of the Calamity community bullied him out for no good reason...this happened years ago and he's still recovering, in his own way...

Calamity soundtracks from DM Dokoru is amazing, and ALWAYS will be I would hear Calamity a hundred times and would hear the OST another hundred times
