The best quote I can think of for the Jedi for much of their existence, but especially by the time of the Clone Wars, comes from a minor side quest npc Padawan in the Star Wars the Old Republic MMO, "The Jedi say that fear and emotions lead to the Dark Side, and yet the Jedi FEAR emotion"

Kinda a hypocritical move, "But mundi is an endangered species, he's allowed a harem"...."Anakin let go of your detachments, oh and we won't free your mom." Makes his that's not fair more justified jedi council...

Mundi was a terrible Jedi overall, but the greatest Jedi of his time's Jedi. By the time of Mundi, the Jedi had spent almost 1000 years having basically become a giant echo chamber. They only accepted infants to train, who would grow up to train more infants. They did not patrol or act, but wait for orders from the increasingly corrupt Republic. They were so focused on communing with the Force, they lost connection to the Living Force. In essence, Mundi was the perfect product of his environment, and a perfect example of why said environment was do horrific

Wasn't this kind of the point regarding the jedi by the time we got to clone wars? They were so wrapped up in the power, influence and arrogance that they couldn't see Palpatines manipulations and they couldn't sense Anakin's fall? They became arrogant, fearing to feel any kind of emotion or attachment while missing the irony of the phrase "fear is the path to the dark side". They spent so much time arrogantly believing the sith could never return only to miss the one literally under their nose

Mundi was past controlled. He was cold. And cold is a dark side emotion all its own. Being empty of compassion is an emotion of its own. It may sound exaggerated but Mundi was as close as anyone had become to Vitiate before his first death. Vitiate was beyond anger or hate or any other dark emotion by the galactic cold war era. He was empty and cold. He simply acted toward his goal. Mundi didn't have Vitiate's goal, but I dare wager the state if mind they both had as they calculated getting their goal and then threw lives at it would have been eerily similar.

@roycehuepers4325 I don't know. Palpatine felt anger, he took pleasure in being the dark lord. Mundi and Vitiate just felt nothing. He and Mundi might have had kinship in how they considered their daughters.

Windu’s strength was his brittle belief in the Jedi Dogma , not the Code and his blind acceptance of the Republic. Similar to Dooku’s hatred to the corruption of the Republic, Windu was just a bad day from falling to the Dark Side. Palpatine probably considered turning Windu but was worried that Windu was too strong, replacing Palpatine at the first opportunity. I think IF Windu and Anakin had been able to get along and train together, they both would have benefited and been much stronger, more centered.

unflinchingly dogmatic adherence to basically any set of rules or principles, even supposedly good ones like those of the jedi order, will almost always lead the zealot down a dark path. so many ideas and Codes need human reason and emotion for them to truly Work. blind adherence is almost never a good thing. it makes it SO easy for the deceivers of the world, the palpatines and the satans and so on, to twist your morally "good" ideas into bad ones in practice. and because the zealot cannot deviate from his code or his rules, he cannot see what the devil has done to him, what the devil has turned him into.

I must be the only Star Wars fan that doesn’t mind Mundi, yes he’s unattached and approaches situations with pure logic yet I think he is given a hard time. One point that always annoys me though is all the videos on him suggest he didn’t care about his family, which is explicitly not true. In fact Mundi said himself he DID care for them but tried to remain unattached inline with the Jedi code but admitted that it was always difficult. So I don’t get why Star Wars researchers far greater than myself overlook this or flat out twist it to make Ki Adi out to be some type of unfeeling Jedi sociopath. He was an example of the Jedi’s flaws to be sure, but this is still somewhat of a harsh view on a layered character.
@Swearengen1980
@Swearengen1980 Жыл бұрын
Sociopath implies unhinged outbursts of anger, which is inaccurate here. Everyone gets that wrong, but they're implying he's a psychopath. And it's mostly, as another post points out, his treatment of Ahsoka and Yoda in the Clone Wars episodes.

@@Swearengen1980My best guess is that confusion between unattached to psychopath. Or people just think he is psychopath because he is unattached and is a byproduct of a anti-life Jedi.
@StormStar626
@StormStar626 Жыл бұрын
@@Swearengen1980 personally I don’t think he’s either, which is my point; I’ve seen other videos refer to him as both and evil too. Which again all in all I see as harsh view. He is logical and unattached but in the Star War universe that doesn’t mean the same thing as it does in real life. Lets not forget, Ki-Adi isn’t even a human Jedi. We don’t know if Cierians as race are just naturally more logical or have different psyches in general but thats getting to deep into the mud. My point is I think people are harsh on Ki-Adi and the irony is, he is referred to as an extremeist and yet the evidence used to back this up is taking snippets of what he says and taking them to the extreme!
@Swearengen1980
@Swearengen1980 Жыл бұрын
@@StormStar626 I wouldn't say he's always being logical. I'm a very rational, logical, and analytical person and have often been accused of being heartless or a psychopath. When you look at how he treated Yoda re: force ghost or Ahsoka, he really wasn't being logical. He was being obtusely judgmental and self righteously arrogant.
@StormStar626
@StormStar626 Жыл бұрын
@@Swearengen1980 I disagree while I don’t deny he was arrogant and judgmental I would still argue it was rooted in logic. With Yoda especially his conclusion that Yoda has either becoming too old and his mind is suffering as a result or is under some attack by the Sith is a logical one, since what was really going on was both unheard of and astonishing and difficult to understand so therefore a logical person like Mundi would struggle to accept. Don’t forget its easy to judge because we as views saw the whole story to Mundi all he saw was and aged old being hearing voices no one could hear and even Yoda himself was unnerved and not totally convinced of what he was experiencing and out of all the Jedi on Kenobi was resolute in Yoda being of sound mind and that was more out of blind loyalty. With Ahsoka, Mundi was harsh and was more concerned about what would happen to the Jedi if they blindly defended Ahsoka based on nothing but her word. In many ways he approached this again with logic, after all they had had Jedi, Clones and Senators turn on them before and so it was no big stretch for it to potentially happen again. He was arrogant and too quick to cast her aside but many of the other members of the council did the same.

I would assume that George got his surname from either the Latin root word "Mundus" which means 1. (noun) World; and 2. (Adjective) Clean. Yeats believed that each of us is a part of an ordered Universal Mind or "Spiritus Mundi".

Where do you think Mundi learned this behavior? "Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.” - Yoda "The Jedi Code forbids attachments. I Cared for them [his family] but I tried to remain unattached. It was always...difficult." - Mundi If you want to criticize the jedi of this era you should start with Yoda lol. Love your videos. keep up the good work!

This is the second video I encounter completely flaming Ki adi Mundi and I need to defend him because a lot of people simply seem to lack the ability to think from another perspective. 1. His species is a 2 brain species known to be highly rational. Therefor developing a stoic mindset so that emotions dont influence your actions is a very rational approach and practical as it helps with the jedis approach on emotion People seem to forget that nlt letting yourself be influenced by emotions is not the same as not caring. Ki adi does care, he is just a stoic and doesnt let him influence it which makes him seem cold He has no ties to his family nor his wifes because he has so many of them and practically cant spend a lot of time with them so obviously he wouldnt be emotionally destroyed as much if smth happens to them. 2. Questioning Ahsoka in light of the evidence considering the fact that hr doesnt know her well is 100% reasonable. Its fking war, everyone can be a traitor 3. Saying that yoda is under dark side influence is a very good suggestion that was partly true due to sidious manipulating yoda. 4. Everyone seems to forget that if the jedi had listened to mundi he would've carried the shit out of them and prevented order 66, he proposed for palpatine to lay down emergency power after grievous death so that if he refuses the jedi can intervene and not just arrest him out of nowhere like windu did. This would've been a politically way smarter move

Master Luminara Unduli was the same way. When it came to her padawan, Barris Offee. During a battle to destroy a separatist droid production facility Barris was sent in with Ahsoka Tano. They succeeded in their mission, but was trapped in the rubble. Luminara was willing to accept the death of Barris as “The will of The Force”. Anakin was not willing to give up on Ahsoka. There was an episode of this battle in The Clone Wars. Luminara was so cold 🥶 about willing to “let go” and blamed Anakin for being too compassionate with his padawan. Perhaps 🤔 this is what led to Barris becoming rogue with The Jedi. Ki-Adi-Mundi’s men hated him. Especially during the battle of Mygeeto. Many soldiers died needlessly and he seemed very unsympathetic towards them. Though he saved their commanding officer many times, he had a lot of disdain for Ki-Adi-Mundi. When Order 66 was delivered, the clones had no problem enforcing it and violently killed Ki-Adi-Mundi. But if he was considered the “perfect Jedi”, he acted relatively similar to that of a Sith.

@@bursegsardaukar When you talk about metaphysical forces that is highly unlikely. If the Force is keeping everything together it doesn't make sense for it to corrupt people naturally because corruption ultimately leads to everything breaking apart. The Dark Side is a corruption due to misuse of the Force ergo it is unnatural. Sidious was the angler fish, my guy. Add: Furthermore, the Jedi's corruption is not due to the Force but their own mortal shortcomings. They do not understand the Force fully or what it wants if it could want anything, long hours of meditation in order to understand and deepen their relationship with the Force wouldn't be necessary if it actually spoke to them in any meaningful way. The Jedi's problems were entirely because they were people.

God why does Yoda suck at training people so much? Dooku? Evil. Ki-Adi? Dick. And both he and Mace suck at being there for Anakin. Like don't make him a master yet obviously but, don't neglect and abuse him emotionally while a Sith Lord (who they all know is around in the Republic cause Dooku told them) is trying to seduce him to the dark side! Also Luke, Obi-wan, and Ahsoka are basically the only decent Jedi since they're not sociopaths. Like they actually care about each other unlike the rest of the Council who are monsters.

I didn't cry when my dad or grandpa died. They was sick with cancer. Vomiting up blood, they was better off dead. So I didn't cry at all. Everyone else did; but Grandpa said don't revived him because the pain was too much 🤷🏾‍♀️ I was more sad seeing him in pain alive then dead... Not feeling pain at all.

I am not going to claim to be a Star Wars researcher but I read a lot of the comments and there is something glaringly obviously missing in all of the top comments I read. Mundi was binary brained. Because we have no clue how this biology worked, could we at least give a small benefit of doubt that it was easy for him to compartmentalize his feelings and emotions? All of the comments I read came from the standpoint of single brain anatomy. Perhaps when he was in battle mode it was easy to be emotion free and cold but in private he felt all of his pain and loss. We don't know how his species may have used the binary brain and how easy it may have been for him to separate his feelings. I don't feel like it is fair to hate him without knowing how his biology affected his feelings and how he handled that.

"There is something very touching about them. They look like soldiers; they fight like soldiers; and sometimes they eventalk like soldiers. They have all the finest qualities of the fighting man. But behind that is nothing - no love, no family, no happy memory that comes from having truly lived. When I see one of these men killed, I weep more for him than for any ordinary soldier who has lived a full and normal life." - Ki-Adi-Mundi on the Galactic Marines under his command. "Greater love has no being than to lay down their life for a friend. Rivi-Anu is now one with the Living Force. It will make me proud to one day join her." - Ki-Adi-Mundi on Jedi knight Rivi-Anu after she sacrificed herself to save Mundi, a number of other Jedi, and their clones. Ah, yes, a totally emotionless and uncaring Jedi. Mundi absolutely cared about many people, KZbinrs just seem to think he was a complete sociopath for some idiotic reason.

I think generally, it is perfectly acceptable for most Jedi to have certain emotional attachments to close people, such as parents, siblings, a significant other, but the Jedi know through experience that such strong attachments can lead to poor judgment and result in actions that are bad for the Jedi way of life.. with Anakin, they were so weary about him that they went to far in making sure that he would remain on the right path, they were strict and tbh unfair, with all the right intentions.. this made Anakin a bit resentful and showed him that even the best Jedi can be mistaken with their zealous ideas of what makes a Jedi. IMO, his turn to evil still didn't make sense. Came out of left field, bigly. But this makes sense as an attributing factor.

I learned the truth about the philosophy and ideologies of both Jedi and Sith. We learned that both orders are flawed and cursed under an everlasting destiny. A cycle of war without end, under the control of the force itself. You see it don't you; it's no different than Avatar: The Last Airbender, Naruto, My Hero Academia and so many other beloved cartoons and anime series. Who are cursed with godlike powers and kill one another for the sake of peace, conquest, control, balance, etc. Those who don't use said power wisely or abandon all hope or turn to an evil path thinking they could achieve world domination, revolution or destruction of society. When in reality the answer and lesson was to let go of power or strength. That is not your own and stay a human being. Whether it is the Force, bending, magic, chakra, quirks or superpowers. But I guess that is the moral flaw within us humans. Shackled and chained by philosophies, beliefs, orders, nations and creeds. And can't let go of power that is not our own.
