Personally I think maybe Yoda saw the darkness in Dooku. But at the same time Yoda like the rest of the Jedi under his watch through the Republic Classic Era. They were blind and irrigate who believe their ancient enemy was gone. Yet they should have learned from their history the Sith always returns in a new shape. So it made sense why Dooku choice form two and the way he constructed his lightsaber. Because even with the Sith in hiding there are still individuals and groups who can still take on a Jedi and as we seen can easily take them down with ease during the Classic Era.

Wow, this was a very informative video on Dooku’s lightsaber and form. I always admired his elegance and precision in combat. One interesting fact that you didn’t mention is that Dooku’s curved hilt was inspired by the Sith Lord Darth Bane, who also used makashi and a similar design. Dooku learned about Bane from his studies of the Sith and even visited his tomb on Moraband. Perhaps this was one of the influences that led him to the dark side. Thanks for sharing this holocron, may the Force be with you!

The curved saber represents two things that are a threat to the Jedi Uniqueness and affinity to dueling Padawans are almost expected to build similar sabers to their masters Dooku building a saber unrelated to Yoda was concerning in a way In another way, it represents Dooku being Individualistic like Qui-Gon and later Anakin became as they in their own way stove off from Jedi traditions like having unifiom robes and saber designs The curved blade means it’s built for dueling, as Jedi at that time try to stay away from combat unless necessary It made it seem Dooku is looking for battle, seeking it by building a blade that gives him an advantage in dueling

If the jedi had listened to Dooku, then Qui-Gonn might still be alive. It's not that far fetched to think that Qui-Gonn's death was the final nail for Dooku to become disillusioned with the order. It was akin to losing your child and you see that brief hint of longing in AOTC. If so, then it can be argued that every atrocity he committed was in the name of his prodigal son in an attempt to either avenge his death or to force the jedi to become better so those sort of things would never happen again.

The whole idea that Dooku was the only one to know the truth that the Sith were still active and no other Jedi accepted it, directly contradicts the fact the the two senior members of the Jedi Council, the Grand Master and its second in command lieraly knew not only that the Sith still existed but knew how the Banite Sith Order followed the Rule of Two. So he may very well be the only Jedi that deduced by himself this truth, but wasn't the only one to know it and to accept it. Since there are at least two other Jedi that also not only knew with certainty, but know more than him, as they knew how Darth Bane' Sith Order operated. That why Windu and Yoda knew that there were only two Sith, a Master and an Apprentice. Also it isn't that fencers prefer curved hilt designs, because the Bent French Grip is rarely used for quite a long time, the most used grip is the Pistol Grip for the Foil and Épee, which is neither bent nor straight, Sabres use contoured hits, that conforms to the user's hand co tour, in order to make it easier for it to slide and give more reach to the fencer. Christopher Lee's fencing carrier was mostly on the Sabre, so if his hand had a curved grip, his grip would be curved, as that woule be the contour of his hand, his comment probably was about the fact that he followed the Italian school of fencing, and the initial grip everyone used to learn the basics is almost straight for all three disciplines, with other more contoured grips being introduced later in the fencer's training.

Dooku was right, the casualties at the Battle of Genosis would have been much lower if the Jedi took their lightsaber combat training more seriously. Yoda also comes out like a huge hypocrite here with how aggressive his Ataru lightsaber combat style is. I don't recall Yoda giving Mace Windu any grief over inventing Vaapaad.
@neliusbresnan37665 ай бұрын
I've seen a lot of commentators pointing out that the Jedi approaching the Clone wars really didn't take their blade-training all that seriously and over-estimated their force powers. That is why so many of them died in the Battle of Geonosis. They over-estimated their powers so much that they brought padawans to that fight! And we see the same kind of thing in The Acolyte series that is set a century previously. There is a scene where a street urchin is paid to throw a stone at the gate of the local Jedi Temple. The urchin is apprehended by a Jedi. When I watched it the first time I thought he was just servant at the temple because he is overweight and his gait seems awkward (he is dragging the urchin at the same time). It was only when I was watching a youtube analysis that pointed him out that I realised he is a Jedi. He does not look like our mental image of a hardened warrior-monk.

@neliusbresnan37665 ай бұрын
I think at that point in the fictional history it was more like a badge of office. In the shogun period of Japan a lot of senior Samurai wore blades that were more for show than for function. If you read the Lone Wolf and Cub series they mention repeatedly that Ogami Ittō (the title character) uses a dōtanuki battle sword. It is a "proper" sword. It isn't for show - it is for killing people. I've seen other stuff that explains the swords of high-rank samurai where lighter and the focus was on making them look "pretty". Kinda similar to the way noblemen in Europe around the same period wore side-swords. There were shorter and thinner and lighter with ornate hilts. They communicated "I am a nobleman so don't mess with me". Lighter swords were both still useful as weapons. But I suppose it would be like comparing the convenience of wearing a pistol side-arm to the lethality of a main battle-rifle like an M16 or an AK-47. The rifles are far less convenient to tote around but far more deadly in a battle.

I love dooku I just believe he had a huge flaw in his master of form 2 and that was age yes dooku is one of the greatest duelist’s in history but his body wouldn’t be able to keep up forever and not practicing other forms like 3 to compensate for his lack of physique later in his life and instead focusing solely on 2 made his potential and survival extremely limited

Dooku was a master of all forms. He used different forms a lot. He used Form III and V on Geonosis as well as II. One does not become a master without mastering all forms. It is only through that mastery that you can learn how to defeat each form.

In legends Luke found it in Yoda's hut. I *think* he also found manuals on how to create his own lightsabre. But that might have been in Ben's hut. I don't know if it is stated in new canon. But it is in his possession by the time of The Book of Boba Fett's scene where Luke Skywalker has Grogu choose between becoming a Jedi and returning to the Mandalorian, Din Djarin The scene is obviously evocative of a similar scene from the Lone Wolf and Cub series where a similarly non-verbal toddler (the titular cub) is presented with a similar choice "a direct homage to the 1972 samurai film series, The Wolf and the Cub. In a scene crucial to the series, Ogami Ittō (The Lone Wolf) presents Daigoro (his son the cub) with two options: choose the sword and become an assassin like him, or the ball and return to his mother." screenrant.com/book-boba-fett-luke-skywalker-grogu-scene-george-lucas-vision

hot take, there may have been a time when Yoda was a great Jedi, but by Dooku's era, the Jedi were brainwashed into believing it, and Yoda was an obsolete fool. he held absolute power for longer than almost any of the Jedi of his time lived, and the flaws of the Order and the Jedi who died or fell to darkness during the war can be laid directly at his feet. Dooku would never have fallen to the dark side under Luke, or even in the time of Lord Hoth.
