Palpatine used Sith scream then in that burst of dark side power used battle speed which caused the deaths of many Jedi, and Sith in canon, and legends. Sith scream causes deafness, muscles to lock up, and like the Jedi's wall of light causes the target or targets to lose connection with the force. So Kit Fisto lasting as long as he did is a feat. Mace lasting as long as he did proves he is a battle master, and someone deserving to be Grand Master.

Kit Fisto really followed Bruce Lee's saying of not fearing the man who has done a thousand kicks but fear the man who has done the same kick a thousand times. After all he learned and stuck with the first form, so he practiced it more, had more time to get ride of those flaws meanwhile others moved onto other styles that they then had to learn and master in their own rights after reaching a basic level of the first form
@archades1152 жыл бұрын

He was so terrifyingly skilled that two other expert Jedi Masters and himself, all together, lasted about 3 seconds against Palpatine.
@austinkersey24452 жыл бұрын
Which is a testament to Kit's abilities that he wasn't immediately slain. Palpatine is so immensely powerful in the Force that he can augment his body to move faster than the speed of sound or light. I don't know how fast you would have to move for a trained Jedi Knight like Anakin to not be able to see you fighting.
@eds19422 жыл бұрын
@@austinkersey2445 Jedi have Force speed too. It was made canon in “The Phantom Menace”. And a few years earlier, Lucas wanted mass multi-media of the ‘Shadow of the Empire’, which takes place between ESB and RotJ. In it, Luke uses Force speed to easily defeat an assassin / combat android which had hyper fast reflexes. She didn’t stand a chance. But, then again Luke is the son of the Chosen One. Anyway, if you watch the scene in RotS, Palpatine isn’t actually moving that fast. They just weren’t prepared. And according to Lucas, at least back during the OT, half of a lightsaber takes place both in the Force and psychologically. Palpatine was mentally prepared for it, while they never to my knowledge, faced a Sith Lord. (Dooku’s decades of Jedi training taught him to fight with restraint). Sidious took advantage of the asymmetry of the fight as while as their shock at having to face down someone projecting and engaging with unrestrained rage and fear through the Force, while he had long since clouded their minds. Additionally, he was the Chancellor of the Republic and what they were there to do was a coupe, treason. So, they reacted too slow, uncoordinated and confused to stand a chance against his savage attacks. It was different for Mace as he mistrusted Palpatine from the get go, and politicians in general. And in addition to his own strength in the Force and skill he; could channel the Darkside, had incredible focus / resolve, and he was willing to take the blame for his actions for the greater whole. As a result, Palpatine power reserve in the Force (nor psychologically) just couldn’t hold up to someone of Mace’s skill at arms, his determination and self discipline for so long without break. It was an almost perfect depiction of the differences between the Jedi and the Sith approach to the martial arts . To paraphrase Luke; All other things being equal, “unless they overwhelm their opponents early on, a Sith Lord will almost always eventually lose in a lightsaber duel. Since their raw emotions inevitably betray their skill at arms. Without balance (peace of mind), you forget technique.”

Kit Fisto wins
@alexstumpf99292 жыл бұрын
I think Fisto fall early against Palpatine, because he had to go in defence. Fisto was an offensive fighter, and on the side with a defensive stand user, such as Obi-wan, or a counter fighter such Plo Koon he was an excellent fighter. And also a master tactican. In the novel Fisto told to Windu, he were feel himself better, if Kenobi would be there on their side. He knew this fight won't be easy. Also, Sidious asked Fisto's tactical thinking when the 4 masters tried to arrest Palpatine, his focus was lured away to the future. (Yepp, Qui-gons first lesson to Obi-wan on the screen. Remember? :) ) If you watch the fight against General Grievous, Fisto was the first one who striked. The tactic begins with hit, observe, hit. Agaist Darth Sidious he lost his advance and time for tactical strikes. On a 1 to 10 point system I think his offense was on 7 with full potential 8, but the defense was around 3. Fisto was a very good one-on-one fighter, if he hit first, but could be a better one in a tag team duel. He was very dangerous, if he was the originator/leader of a fight, propably he could reverse a counter fight too, but if he was forced to defence, he was vulnerable.

The flowing water analogy is fitting seeing as Kit Fisto is from an aquatic species. So it makes sense that he would use blade work that could be comparable to his natural element.
@creed8712 Жыл бұрын
Regarding form I’ve always wondered if there’s any genuine consistency in visual media for this. Because Fisto swings the damn thing like a baseball bat in attack of the clone while his fight in clone wars was totally different
@deathstrike7 ай бұрын
Kit Fisto was a Nautolan. His form would naturally represent a "water form" as his species is clearly aquatic. Moving as water does, Kit Fisto used his natural senses, which were suited for aquatic work. Ebb and flow like water. He viewed his opponents as moving through that water and the resulting wave disturbances he could detect. Hence the use of Form I. Swords and by extension lightsabers, are not usually suited for water combat. Kit Fisto took Form I, and adapted it to how he would fight in water. So Kit Fisto redefined Form I, which is suited for land dwellers and natural air breathers and made it a land/aquatic fighting form. Similar to Master Windu's Vapaad. Both highly aggressive styles that could potentially force the user to skate either VERY close to, or even "dip a toe" into the Dark Side. It would be safe to assume that non human life forms would create styles catered to their species. Like Yoda. So small yet he used his size to his immense advantage and could fight even an incredible foe like his former padawan Count Dooku and even Sidious!! It's amazing how many aliens are truly proficient. Fisto, Maul, you name it.

Advance techniques are just basic techniques chained together. I have always thought that mastery of the "odd" numbered forms, 1, 3 and 5, would make a very powerful lightsaber warrior. Hmm it's typically because the lightsaber form one masters is BASED on Katas ie series of moves chained together by design that most basic users fight with by rote because each kata/combo is based on responding to certain situations/moves made by your enemies.As practitioners get more advanced ans used to the form they typically vary the tempo and partition out the sections of the katas so that their muscle memory does the move to a point in the duel while their mind is focused on the enemy and strategizing their next move. Whereas True masters of the forms blended moves/katas from multiple forms for every move and reaction they needed to make or like Kit Fisto ,they advanced beyond the basic moves and evolved the form and katas to the point that barely anyone could recognize what you were going to do next ,seeing as how if a master knew your forms he typically knew how you'd respond and attack . Dooku ,Revan, Palpatine were famous for this because while they may have used one or two forms mainly. ( Revan mastered and mixed ALL forms ), they studied All the forms to at least an expert proficiency. But in the book version of Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith , it's stated that in the duel with Palpatine he paused and slowed down as he Felt Anakin Skywalker cone into range ,thus he supposedly missed that opportunity and died soon after .

bro Fisto recovered from the scream before Mace did- he was the first to block. In fact he saved Windus life. In the scene- Palpatine goes for a thrust at Mace. Mace was in the middle of rearing up his saber- so would have struck down. Fisto blocks the attack directed at Windu, which causes Palpatine to do this wierd 2 on 1 thing where he just kinda swings his blade around at both of them- catching Fisto when he is in a spin. Very interesting fight- and though Windu eventually gets the better of Palps, he would have been killed right off the bat if not for Fisto.

Taken into account how unpredictable it's, it was basically its worst situation to perform in. (Like form 2 is good in 1vs1 , but not in 1vs many) Also, I heard, that first form is form focused on instincts. So, it that type of combat against Palpatine, he needed to control his instincts to not get into way his allies and not hurt them. He probably couldn't defeat Palpatine, but alone, he could last longer (probably). But that is just my opinion.

I agree that Kit basically sweeps most contenders. Beyond Yoda, Palpatine, Mace, Obi-wan, Anakin, Dooku, and Plo Koon I don't think there is a Jedi or Darksider that stands up to him from that Era. The first 3 are givens, Obi beats out in the wildness of Shii-Cho and the flow would be absorbed by his Soreasu defense. But it is master of style versus master of style. Dooku is in the same boat, master of Makashi which was designed to counter Shii-Cho as the second form. But he perfected it where someone like Ventris wouldn't hold up as well. Anakin and Plo are the surprisingly closer match ups. I think they eek out the win in the end. But Anakin can't physically bully a Nautolan like he can others. That and the unpredictability is something he struggles with. Plo on the other hand has similar strength and style to Anakin. But he has techniques derived from also being a Baran-do Sage that turn the tide in his favor.
