I was nearly 8 years old. Still wonder about him from time to time even in my 40s. I think I may have spoken with his wife once; I'm not sure...was doing a telemarketing type job and saw his name come up on the list (it's not exactly a common name, but might not have been him) a woman answered "He's at work right now. I'm his wife. May I help you?" It’s always been the case. Unfortunately due to social media and instant news he hear about every single case. However I wouldn’t be surprised if Chernobyl incident although traces were low in uk they could have contributed to some of the cases of early death? We know in places where the radio active levels are higher (or were at the time) that cancer and birth defects are a lot higher. Plus problems can carry on for multiple generations? But then again certain medical conditions just spontaneously happen for no reason. We just have to live our lives to the full, try to live a healthy life & make the most of what we have.
