I think we sit at opposite ends of the table in regards to ceiling fans lol. I remember you once said that my decorative ceiling fan videos are a seldom seen eye refresher for you, while the opposite is true for me. I'm happy to finally see more industrial ceiling fan content from you hahaha. I guess our market really dictates what type of ceiling fans rule the market & that reflects deeply on our tastes

Haha yeah I guess we always want to see the unseen! I like industrial ceiling fans too, but I just don't come across them often compared to residential fans.

I've seen this 220V-240V 50Hz version of this fan because I live in Indonesia, and this fan was officially sold in Ace Hardware. Being an so-called industrial ceiling fan, the pricing was ridiculously high than actual industrial ceiling fan (e.g Maspion MCF52-110), which was costs less than these. When I visiting Ace Harware in Indonesia, these fans are sights my eyes.
@TheSuperFanMan7 ай бұрын
Cool! Pretty cool that Westinghouse branded ceiling fans are being sold over there too. I imagine the imported name plays a role in the higher price.
@katthefanenthusiast57937 ай бұрын
A lot of the local-brand industrial-looking ceiling fans are actually not industrial rated. Like the Asahi fans in the Philippines that are for “household use only”. Westinghouse industrials in other countries are actually industrial rated unlike in North America. They go a lot faster too. In North America they are targeting the low-ceiling residential and commercial market with these (North America has strict rules on the height of fast industrial fans).
@katthefanenthusiast57937 ай бұрын
Though yeah, these seem overpriced compared to Maspion (which are also industrial rated I believe), and especially the Krisbows, which are basically SMCs and will blow any Westy industrial out of the water (except the 60” ones they sell in LatAm)

The buzz is interesting because I remember these new ones being rated for solid state. Maybe this predates that

Don't all fans buzz on solid state, whether they're rated for it or not? I can't think of a fan that runs silently on solid state controls.
@katthefanenthusiast57937 ай бұрын
@@TheSuperFanMan Dan Spiffy tested a few that are almost silent. And a community center that I used to go to had old SMC K56’s (like, early 80’s I believe) that were dead silent on solid state.
@katthefanenthusiast57937 ай бұрын
Overall this performs better than I expected for the N.American market ones. I remember some of them being very slow. Yes compared to “real” industrials, these aren’t that great, but definitely seem decent choices for low ceilings, where you can’t have true industrials unless you have a guard on it
@TheSuperFanMan7 ай бұрын
I agree! I've seen some videos on these that run unusually slow. Hard to tell if those were lemons or just older versions that had different specs.

I thought about it, but I’m keeping the wiring non-permanent in that room, so I think it’s best to have that inline junction box for speed controls.

Neat fan. Honestly, it looks cool and the quality doesn't seem too bad. Performance as you mentioned is comparable to any residential grade fans, but the term "Industrial Look" is a bit misleading though.
@TheSuperFanMan7 ай бұрын
I very much agree. I see these fans quite often in commercial buildings, even though they aren't actually rated for those applications. The industrial appearance probably deceives a lot of people.

Are these the same fan as the older Encon Industrial model from the 90s from before they switched to the Westinghouse name?
@TheSuperFanMan7 ай бұрын
I'm honestly not too sure. Is Encon still around? This does look very similar to the Encon model so perhaps it is the same fan, or at least it's a derivative of the Encon.
@coled50907 ай бұрын
@@TheSuperFanMan Encon was bought by Angelo Bros at some point around the early 2000s, and changed the name to licensed from Westinghouse. Many models were carried over so I wasn’t sure if this is one that happens to still be made. It does look similar.

This ceiling fan should honestly just be treated as a residential ceiling fan, it doesn’t seem to fit in the “industrial” group. I’m assuming that’s what they mean by “Industrial Look”, it looks like an industrial ceiling fan, but it actually isn’t.
@TheSuperFanMan7 ай бұрын
Yep that's exactly what I was thinking. I looked at the specs and instruction manuals for this fan and couldn't find any mentions of it being suitable for commercial or industrial applications. The website just says "ideal for lofts and great rooms," so I'm nearly certain that this indeed is a residential fan.

Just watched this on KZbin for the first time in the 3 days since it was made and put on KZbin. I was used to seeing these industrial ceiling fans in buildings, malls, and grocery stores. The gym where I used to work out for 7 years had 2 of these ceiling fans in the room where they have their "spin" classes. I'm still trying to figure out if gyms have air conditioning on full blast, mainly between 60- 68 degrees in some rooms and some have ceiling fans and run them along with the air conditioner they should run the ceiling fans on medium and low speeds on downdraft instead of high speed because it would make it even colder and create a "wind chill effect" and also it would make it a little harder for people like me with little to no body fat or insulation to either stay floating in the water or swimming pool or to keep from freezing in the Winter or sweating in the Summer. Aside from that, I like these ceiling fans with fewer blades, 3 or 4 blades than the newer ones with multiple blades, 5 or more blades 🙂👍🙏💒🤟🎄⛸️⛄️❄️♨️🎅.

I have to agree! The fans help the HVAC system so the facilities don’t have to crank the heat or the AC up nearly as much. I also like the look of 3 or 4 bladed fans. We see 5 blades way too often lol.

@SilasMonaco7 ай бұрын
I just want to know why they made it like that
@TheSuperFanMan7 ай бұрын
It was to prevent young kids from sticking objects or their fingers into the spinning fan. Average fan grilles still have enough spacing for little curious fingers, pencils, etc, to go through, so by making the spacing very small, it essentially eliminated that possibility. It does reduce the fans performance too, but surprisingly not too significantly.
