I started using a lower toss, the lights at some of the tournaments were blinding I had to adjust to the conditions too many times, so I just do it simple now and stay consistent as possible.

I agree, it’s not always possible. You have to find what works for you.

@@TheTableTennisServiceGuy I learned the hi-toss pendulum serve in 1979 it's been around a very long time. I used it to win a game against a higher-level player 2 weeks ago in a big tournament unfortunately I needed a little more talent to win the match once they figure it out it goes against me, and I have to deal with the returns.

I love your vids❤. And I watched a lot of serving videos with tips and tricks. And I train my serves so much, that even my trainer with 1870 TTR has problems with reading my Backhand serve. I would love to see how you would return it. Maybe or better hopefully I can make it one day to your training lessons. Love love love from Germany ❤❤❤

Craig does training camps all across the UK, Bryant and Gersent training camps, both him and Steve are excellent coaches and really friendly, last time I went to one there was a few people from Germany combining the camp with a holiday, I would recommend going

Craig is a great source of information and very helpful with the serve part of the game. I will definitely start using this deception to help win more points off the serve. Thanks Craig.

Great video! But one thing is on my mind. Pros sometimes use deception, especially on the hook serve or they even do an illegal serve (hide the ball with the body/hand/head), but most of the time it seems to me they use a very casual way of serving, just with a lot of spin/placement/pace variation and very low over the net. And for example if you do everything you said, it will make it even harder to concentrate on the other aspects, especially in a real game where you are under pressure. So my question is: how consistent do you get this serves low, with the right amount of spin and placement on the other table in a real game? I saw you posted one time a video were you were playing in an official match and your serves were good, but you did mostly kicker and pendulum in a more casual (but still deceptive) way. It is because since then you even improved or do you have also problems to perform the serves in the video in game? If so, it would be really good to make a video where you explain how to use different serves in a real match in a pragmatic way. For example, i will start with "normal" serves and try to get more risky if i notice the opponent can deal with my serves.

I'm the 1400th like! You make this appear effortless. Is there any drills or anatomical breakdowns on serve technique that's allowed you to master these serves? Like wrist exercises, or stretches, ect?

Great video Craig! There's also an important lesson not to follow the ball with your eyes when someone tosses it high! Ps.High-toss bloopers were hilarious!😂

Nice video Craig. It would be really useful to go through how you go around planning your serve practice from deciding what to practice, how to practice, practice goals, progression etc. E.g. I'm working on heavy backspin short serve as my best shot us looping underspin pushes. Starting with 5 in a row just doing good forearm/wrist movement and good contact. Then 5 in a row from proper serve position, ball into last 1/3 of the table and roll back to the net, then different placements, float serve and long serve with similar start motion. It's something I've been thinking a lot recently trying to simplify my game working in my strengths and how to go around building a progression plan so would love to get your expertise

Thanks for your great videos. Did You ever have complaints about your left arm being in the way of the view on the ball. E.g. your high toss serves at 8:31-8:32 looks like your left hand blocks the view just in the moment of the bat-ball contact. I ask because I had several complaints in my matches considering this issue. Thanks very much in advance for your answer.

I’ve checked back and it is close but it is visible. Also worth remembering that the camera angle is not always the player’s view point.

I only look for the contact, as it gets too confusing trying to follow the ball and see what the bat is doing. I guess I react to the first bounce too, but that becomes subconscious.
