I was stationed in Korea in 2003- 2006... I loved being able to watch it on TV I couldn't understand Korean very well but was so fun to watch... I remember in 2004 I was walking on the beach in Busan with my GF and we came across what we thought was a concert but it was the finals. No clue who was playing but still a very cool memory.

Me and 8 other classmates who were airborne all got dumped in Korea after like 6 weeks of being held in our training unit but done with training

Love these throwback vids, Tasteless. side note. idk if it was the game tasteless watched, but in one of the finals, Yellow got 3-0ed by Boxer in 3 bunker rushes. That series traumatized Yellow and he said he had a really hard time recouping. Also, he lost to Boxer quite a bit in important matches, granting himself the nickname Runner-up lol. Now, they're both celebrity statuses in korea and are big in Poker scene. Yellow actually won few international tourneys if I recall. I adore these 2 because, though not in professional form, they continue to have event matches against each other and Boxer still pretty much owning Yellow in SC and continues to trash talk lol

If you want more Yellow/Boxer action, you should check out the Korean show The Genius Game. It's a game show where a bunch of Korean professionals compete in games of wit and strategy for a grand prize. Yellow appears in S1 and S2 and Boxer appears in S2.

For the SC2 players that never played SC1, units wouldn't auto-attack the builders. They would auto-aggro towards the military units. So you could hold position your SCVs, and the zerglings would run straight past them and try to get at the marines. You had to target SCVs manually with lings.

There wasn't one. Obviously he could have made one if he had to but he didn't. There's another famous OSL match between BoxeR and YellOw (EVER OSL semi finals 2004 thx Google) where BoxeR successfully bunker rushed YellOw in three consecutive games. At the time BoxeR said hatch first cannot hold the rush and Z must go pool first, this was also before drone drilling became better etc. Fun fact from YT comment on the tripe bunker rush: "It was said that july was boxers practice partner when he prepared for this semi finals. July had to play over 200 games of stopping bunker rush while boxer kept refining bunker positionings and timings for each map. It was said that afterwards, july became one of the best zerg players at stopping bunker rush, repeatedly beating players like nada oov xellos when they tried to bunker him."

The fact alone that we could identify units, buildings and what was going on on this video filmed by a toaster from 1999 shows to me one big problem with allmost all new RTS games: The visuals are not as crisp, clear and easy to destinguish when done in a 3D-Style. At least the games I have seen all lack behind games like StarCraft and AoE2. It always becomes kind of more blurry and kind of hazy. Do you think they will ever make another game as crisp and well designed as those incredibly well thought out games from around 2000? Just look at the super well thought out design of the terran buildings for example: A depo has this huge vents on top and the sides, the barraks is standing on legs with overall more delicate features, the factory has an octagonal shape, the command center is round like a flying saucer. All those shapes are very easy and quick to destinguish. In SC2 the features are not standing out as well - in my opinion.

I remember watching first games of Terran doing wall and fast factory. I was like WTF is he doing. He needs to make marines or he will die. Protoss walking in front of the wall with zealots, can't get in and one marine is shooting at them behind the wall. Hilarious.. 😆
