It is shockingly bright at times but I would say that works in its benefit as you can view it in dim or bright rooms with fair flexibility. The HDR calibration is the closest to perfection you can get out of the box! Bless mate. 🙏

Let me give you advice. Turn off the Wi-Fi on your TV and turn off the automatic update firmware. Only use TV for "Picture Quality" and use a sound system. Never use the speaker. For streaming apps and everything, use a Amazon fire cube, Nvidia Shield or Apple TV etc. Reason why I suggested this because firmware updates will slow/ruin your TV and apps will say "Netflix is no longer available on this device". That's why I suggested you to turn off the auto-update on your TV. And let your fire cube/NVidia shield/apple tv handles all the streaming apps. You could leave the auto-update on your streaming device. That's fine. Why? Because what would you rather see break faster? Your expensive TV ($1k-3k) or your streaming device, which cost way less than your TV? Think about it.
@invASIAN952 ай бұрын
@@mr.pangetako Where is your evidence that firmware updates will ruin the TV. This is some kind of conspiracy that needs to be substanstiated, firmware is to fix bugs and improve feature set. Maybe sometimes the odd firmware update may break something but this is on a device/software version case by case basis and I do not believe the above general advice should be followed
@mr.pangetako2 ай бұрын
@@invASIAN95 Apple did it once to slowdown older iPhones. What makes you think they won’t do it on TV? Plus I have a second tv (2017) with me (turn off software updates) And my brother’s tv (2022-2023) is already slowed and laggy menu after the multiple software updates. It’s pretty obvious and you just need common sense to know their intentions. But if you’re just a consumer without knowledge about tech, I won’t explain further.
@invASIAN952 ай бұрын
@@mr.pangetako You're comparing Apple's with oranges.. There's so much here that you have not backed up. Your brothers TV slowed down more than your TV?! How does that prove anything scientifically. Are we talking about the same Make and Model? If not, then the comparison is 100% invalid. Of course software updates occasionally make something buggy but 99% of the time they improve features and bugs, hence the reason for them existing. Your advice for using an Apple TV/Shield is correct as i'm an enthusiast and these devices are generally much better, but you state the reason to use them is so they break first instead of your TV breaking first. I dont get it like you're so worried about TV software slowing down so much when you don't even use it in the first place. Someone that is worried about the TV software slowing down would be someone who actually enjoys using the tv operating system not someone who uses an AppleTV or something else. Unless you alsoi think these TV's are somehow designed to blow up with software updates too? 😂

Alot of people go on about how QD-OLED has much better colours than WOLED and use that to say that this Samsung is better than the LG. Do you actually notice a difference in colour brightness/intensity/realism or whatever between them when at their best?
@kjm0227Ай бұрын
I have a Sony a95L (2023) QD OLED as well as a Sony A8H WOLED from 2020. Obviously the a95l is master series and the A8H is not and is 4 years old, but I do notice a big difference in color volume and brightness between the two. With an LG G4 you likely won’t notice as much of a difference with proper settings but colors will look (in my opinion) a more vibrant on a QD OLED vs WOLED. You can ramp up saturation on the LG to match vibrancy but the colors won’t be as natural anymore and the image won’t look as good (again in my opinion). If not being watched side by side with a QD OLED you’d never know the difference I don’t think. And the G4 has superior processing and upscaling vs any tv on the market except maybe the A95L. The MLA tech is pretty cool. I’d say the A95L is still the best all around tv on the market but LG is very very close and costs less. Just depends what you prefer. Clarity and sharpness (LG) or color pop (Samsung). Samsung has equal color pop to the A95L but lacks processing ability. The A95L is as close as you will get to both color and processing being top of class but then you don’t have all the gaming features of Samsung/LG if that’s important to you and paying way more. Tradeoffs no matter what tv you go with.

Sounds like the biggest difference is the white balance and the settings and you can tweak them. Neither of these has the lovely ambilight of my philips 808 which adds something to the picture. Processing is certainly important. Right now my philips 808 (uses LG c3 midrange panel) easily beats my LG C9 easily for HD TV content and KZbin I have in another room. But not with Disney plus where the LG picture is amazing and philips merely very good. Processing makes a big difference. Default settings vary a lot between the brands. Philips default is amazing with some stuff and awful with others, set up to wow you! and if you're not willing to customise do not buy a philips. But once customised is really nice. LG tends to set TV up for more natural picture. LG Software and apps are very good. LG probably a very safe bet for most. They've been making oled panels for a long time now and know how to get the best from them. Well made. Got 3 in the family about 4 to 6 years old and no issues with any of them (earliest being C8), had lots of issues with C6/7 burnin initially. But none on any of our sets. Even been using the 55 C9 as a computer monitor and with games console.

@@trevhib I had 3 LG exchanges. Even the fourth I settled on had slight pink tint & noticeable banding & it’s very distracting. One panel I had the pink tint covered nearly half the screen so when any snow scenes etc were showing it looked awful. It is all panel lottery of course but this was my first Samsung oled & it was the cleanest panel I’d ever seen with zero tinting & banding.

This just proves that the LG can have that same oversaturated color look as the QDOLED Samsung. But the fact of the matter is, that is not a natural, accurate image and a lot of us do not prefer that look.

Nice comparison very informative as usual.... There are a few LG G3/G4 83" owners who are reporting a vertical line down the middle of the screen or if you like to call it a contrast difference between the left and right side of the screen. Have you seen any signs of this on the LG sets you have seen in person?🤔 I am waiting to take the plunge and get the 83" G4 when Black Friday comes along...
@Icipher428 күн бұрын
83" G4 owner here. Almost all, if not all the 83" G4s have this. That being said, you will never notice it unless you really look for it, and it only happens in VERY specific content.

@@Icipher4 Ouch! I was afraid of that... It corresponds to what I have been reading. I would hope then, as you say, it will not be obvious unless looking for it in very specific content.... @Icipher428 күн бұрын
@@borger9952 I tested those same Loki scenes and it was so faint on my TV I could only see it if I paused the show at that exact second and even then it wasn't super obvious. If I had five people on my couch looking at the TV and not knowing whar to look for they wouldn't see it. It's very faint. I've actually never seen it in any shows or movies.

@ Samsung have its own, where you use the camera of your phone. I used both my iPhone 15 pro and Samsung s23 and I have to say IPhone does the best calibration. You use the smart things app and connect the tv to the app and then go to calibration. It can be tricky to find for some models

Samsung in compare to LG looks like a mid-range TV for a premium price. No Dolby vision support, no DTS, only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports with 40 gbps vs 48 gbps to LG, besides LG has 5 year warranty for the panel. The real competition for LG G4 would be Sony A95L/Panasonic Z95A- not S95D

Cinema mode on "most" TV's seems to give more accurate colours. Samsung TV take colour accuracy as a suggestion they choose to ignore.
@paultasker77883 ай бұрын
Yuck! Always find cinema mode makes things tinted in yellow and look odd. Probably good for certain movies but not general TV viewing or gaming. Just shows how subjective picture is. Movie experts will tell you it's the best, also switch off motion smoothing. I like it on as hate jerkiness. So subjective.

All this is comparing is LG's default picture settings vs Samsung's default picture settings. Of course they are not going to be the same because each brand has their own "look" they are going for, to establish their brand identity. Every single TV I've ever bought since 2008 has always had default settings that look bad to me, so this video is completely unremarkable. On the flip side I also reject that we should be comparing displays after calibration with a colourimeter, as the vast majority of users will not be doing that. The comparison should be between both displays in their most accurate known picture mode using settings that are known to get them as accurate as possible without needing to take any measurements. Test patterns should be allowed to calibrate a few basic things by eye, but absolutely no colourimeters allowed.
