The 2017 MU6300 models are basically identical, to the 2016 model reviewed in this video. The only new addition is that now ALL hdmi inputs accept HDMI 2.0 4k @ 60Hz. So its better if you are hooking up other 4K devices. 2016 model only had that on one input.

Yeah, got mine for $289 from Best Buy when the early sale went up that day, i was researching for a bit and finally found this one before i knew of the sale so it was great. i purchased the PS4 Pro few days before this TV, was using a 65" Samsung 3D 1080P one of there 2015 high range models and the PSPro still looked amazing on that TV but i felt like i wasn't getting the Full experience so i decided to get a 40" 4k UHD for gaming and its fantastic!

just one point on nvidia control pannel, u said that u need to set the dynamic range to 0-255 in the settings, what u don't know is that you are forcing the nvidia card to control those settings, if u let at default that is let video player settings you gonna have the same exact final result and u can check it by your self. i did a lot of test video different video codecs and its the same thing, so just let it at default.

Another excellent video. However, I'm assuming the screen is AMOLED (as it is a TV) not IPS, so by inherit design I don't believe (but I could be wrong) the TV will not actually render high bit-depth at 10,12, or even higher (per color) and you are actually stuck at 6 or 8-bit (per color). My concern with video grading would be how much visual image quality is missing from 12-bit+ 422 or 444 video and how the display affects what you actually are doing if you push color/image too far by it not having a wide color gamut. I guess if you are editing master for commercial cinema in 444 you have the dough for a $30K monitor, but it would be nice to actually see all of the 422/444 RAW video we are all so drooling to capture these days. Would love to see a side-by-side comparison against a true high end 10/12/14-bit WCG 4K monitor. Keep up the good work!

Gr8t video, it answered most of my concerns the only one left is what graphics card are u using?I have a 2008 Mac Pro using a AMD Radeon 7950 w/ 3GB of DDR memory. It has no Display port but 2 mini display ports, dual DVI and a HDMI port. will this display this tv at 4K @ 60Hz?
@the.jose.martinez8 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott! To get the TV to display 4K @ 60hz, you may need to get the HDMI 2.0 plug and your graphic card may need to support it. You may still produce a 4k image, but im not sure you will get the full 60hz. I am not 100% though as the 7950 is a decent card. I had one in my 2010 Mac Pro and loved it. I currently use the GTX 1080 8GB founders edition from Nvidia. My girl uses a GTX 1060 3GB and still produces the 4k @60hz and no game has slowed her down. If you stick with Radeon, try out the 480 4GB or the 8Gb. If you are switching to Nvidia, try the 1050ti unless you are a hardcore gamer, then min should be the GTX 1060 3GB because of the pascal architect. the Nividia 970 and 980 are still great cards too, but then again so is your 7950. I would purchase a HDMI 2.0 cable from Amazon for $10. a.co/3MC85zS and see if you get the resolution. Thanks for watching!
@scottvick21568 жыл бұрын
Thanx TechJMedia for all the help. I purchased the 4K TV and it is working with my AMD Radeon 7950 w/ 3GB of DDR memory, running at 60Hz at 3840 x 2160 using the mini display port and a program called SwitchResX. The only thing that is crazy is I can't get the 60Hz unless I have another monitor plugged into the card along with the tv, with just the tv I get 4K at 30Hz. My set is now the tv with a 24" HP monitor on each side. It's kind of baffling, maybe I need to upgrade to either of the two graphics cards u have.
@the.jose.martinez8 жыл бұрын
scott vick I've never seen that before where another monitor needs to be plugged in for the 60hz to kick on. Mmmm, I'm not sure what's causing that. Maybe check your nvidia 3D settings and see if it's on multi or single gpu display? If you do buy one, try out a 1060 or 1070. Even the 1060 3gb would work. I tried hooking up my Mac Pro 2013 and am getting the same thing as you. By itself, 30hz, with another monitor 60hz. Weird. Maybe it's a AMD thing?

I have a 24" IPS screen with Full HD resolution for editing. But I'm thinking to purchase an additional TV to watch my content and movies in 1080p on a large screen, as well as to make editing on both screen and TV. Should I buy a 4K UHD TV 2020 version (43 "-50") for 1080p content or should I buy an earlier version of Full HD TVs (32 "-43") for 1080p content? Does 1080p content look better on Full HD TVs or same on 4K TVs? Or it looks worse in 4K TVs?

How is reading text and working on large spread sheets on a TV compared to a monitor? Was debating if i can get away with this TV or do i need to get something like the Seiki Pro 40 SM40UNP.
@the.jose.martinez8 жыл бұрын
The reading text on excel and the entire microsoft suite is excellent. But know that I am running this on a PC with the setting I described in the video. Otherwise the text was way off. I also have it as one single monitor use and scaled at 150% which gives it that retina text look at its native display. I compared the text side by side to my LG 34 inch and its identical. However its not usable as reading text on a Mac. Hope this helps.

Hey, How does it compare to a 1440p 34 inch monitor for editing documents and writing text. Also does it have good performance with mac too?
@the.jose.martinez7 жыл бұрын
Not good for mac unless its a macbook pro. The hdmi only reads 30hz and its lagging with the mouse. PC is perfect. Mac Pro prior to 2013 is good with certain cards. the 1440 is a great monitor. the LG, samsung and asus are perfect for that aspect ratio. I have found myself going to the tv monitor for everything though. You have to calibrate it correctly to get the rich colors and deep blacks. thanks for watching.
@anchit18047 жыл бұрын
TechJMedia I have a fully 'spec'ed out MacBook Pro retina 2014 with an NVIDIA GPU. The LG 38UC99 is not giving me anything more than 60Hz cz I can't make use of the free sync. It costs 1500+ while contrast is 800:1. While I can find one of these for 300$ and the contrast is much higher. The point is can I drive is this at real 60Hz with my MacBook? Do let me know what you think what's a better option. Also, what about the lag? LG is 8ms and with overclocking I can maybe get it down to 4ms.. PS: I use my MacBook in boot camp a lot. I'm a product designer and the ultrawide's extra real estate seems to be offset by the size and pixels of this TV.. do advice please. Thanks.

The modern 4K TVs outperform all monitors in picture quality and immersion thanks to their larger panel size. I forgot my old 28" 4K asus monitor in favour of my actually KS8000 55" 4K samsung tv....but i think 55 inches are a bit too large for less than 4 feet distance of view; have you got any problem with the 40" size instead?
@the.jose.martinez7 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with quality. I sometimes get a little motion sick if I'm playing a FPS for long time but the 40" size is perfect. Anything bigger wouldn't be good for me unless I put it farther than 3 feet. Thanks for watching!

no drawbacks whatsoever. I just color calibrated the tv monitor and it looks even more gorgeous as the blacks are deep and black. browsing on this tv is a joy as the text is super clean and crisp in full 8bit RGB mode. Scrolling is very smooth and you can always scale windows text to your liking too. I am at 125% with the tv 3 feet away from me. Editing is a dream because of the real estate and the color is accurate too. No slow downs, hic ups or skips as this is butter smooth to edit, browse and gaming on.

Hi Zachary. The only thing that comes to mind is the graphics card is not able to push hdmi 2.0 for the 4k @60hz. I could be wrong but I am almost positive thats the issue if everything else is configured. I would also try to custimize the hz in the display setting to see if you can overcrank it to 60hz or if it just gives you a black screen.

Bought the Samsung 4K UN40KU6290FXZA at BestBuy for $299 just before Black Friday because of seeing this video. Thanks TechJMedia. I have been wanting to jump onto the 4k TV and PC experience. I had an older GTX760 and tried using Club3d Dp1.2 to Hdmi 2.0 Active Adapter but GTX760 would only display a black screen. Tried Everything. Also tried the UpTab adapter but did the same thing. I finally gave up after Getting a Blue Screen of Death due to all my fiddling. I just don't think the GTX760 will work with these adapters. Decided to bite the Bullet and buy a new card, the ASUS GTX1070 white Edition w/ Dual Fans & Two HDMI 2.0 inputs so can use VR in the future without adapters. So glad I did. Cost $399.00 on Amazon. Now Getting 3840x2160 w/ 4:4:4 Chroma at 60Hz with Output color depth of 8 bpc, color format at YCbCr444 and desktop color depth at 32-bit. I don't think some of you realize with this TV, but you have to disable Eco Sensor, & Energy Saving Mode, & Motion Lighting or the TV with constantly adjust your TV's Brightness. You can find these in the Settings Menu on the Samsung TV. Click on System - Eco Solution then set all to "off." I could not believe some of you had the Backlight set to 20. it was blinding!!!!! So to sum up, no mouse lag, text crisp and clean and clear, Colors gorgeous, 4K youtube videos breathtaking, Premiere Pro editing a dream. What a bargain for this TV. TechJMedia i found setting the scaling to 100% in windows 10 to be best to get as much real estate as possible. because of the 4:4:4 text small buy very crisp and clear. i have no problem reading it since i am so close to monitor. love this setup.

Yeh, I tried it on my GTX760 HDMI 1.4 to TV HDMI 2.0. Like you said it worked to get 60hz at 4:4:2 but trust me, when you get a graphics card with HDMI 2.0 and set it to 4:4:4 Chroma at 60Hz with Output color depth of 8 bpc, color format at YCbCr444 you will see a huge, huge difference. Trust me. I'm able to set the scaling in windows 10 at 100% to get the most real estate space and can read every character. I can have 4 windows open at 1080p. Extremely sharp and clear. Also my Backlight is set to 11. FYI, The reviews on BestBuy is at a 4.8 out of 5 with 276 reviews in when i checked yesterday.

Hey! Could you post your picture settings on the TV? Trying to find the best way to use it. When using as a general computer and editing, I find that having the "HDMI UHD Color" turned on gives me little to no lag and the crispest image. However, it does make watching youtube or netflix difficult as it starts to lag and the image drags. I have not yet found the best settings for just watching video.
@the.jose.martinez7 жыл бұрын
Hey! Here are my settings on my tv. I have no issue watching netflix or youtube from my PC or even the smart tv. Hope this helps. Picture mode set to Dynamic mode: Expert settings: backlight: 18 in daylight and 10 at night Brightness: 45 Contrast 90 Sharpness 48 black level: Low (personal preference because i love deep blacks color tone: warm1 color space: native
@FreddyFreeds7 жыл бұрын
Hmmm yeah that definitely solves my youtube/netflix problem but I think what's happening is that turning on the UHD Color means switching to a 4:4:4 color mode. Have you ever tried this? I am very curious of your results.I find that with it turned on, text is incredibly crisp, and there is pretty much zero input lag.

hey bro i am really considering getting this tv over LG 27UD68-P monitor for my gaming rig. And after checking your review i am almost certain im getting it.. but first can you tell me about the input lag and refresh rate at all? based on my research apparently it's not pretty good for competitive gaming which im gonna do but could you tell me your overall opinion while using the tv on fast paced gaming?
@the.jose.martinez7 жыл бұрын
+JonR L if you are a competitive gamer, I would use something with a better input lag and refresh rate. Depending if you have AMD or a GTX, your way better off with an actual gaming monitor over the size and cost of this tv. It's great for gaming in my standards but you will notice flaws. Thanks for watching.
@eljayromero74657 жыл бұрын
Im going to buy the gtx 1080ti which is gonna support games at better resolution. I like to play competitive games like overwatch and league of legends but personally, im not that hardcore and competitive personally. Would you still recommend this tv ? 60hz is a standard refresh rate everywhere i guess. My laptop has a 60hz refresh rate and i was fine gaming on that. I cant find any good gaming monitor that supports 4k and is at least 27" inch around the same price. I could but it's gonna be helllllll expensive 😂 It is either this or LG27UD68-P after my extensive research. What games do you play on this tv? What flaws do you normally come across

My main issues with TV's as monitors has been color/text readability. How is this TV for with viewing and managing files in Windows? (I do website management and video editing). Also my work area is pretty dark and I usually lower brightness quite a bit. I heard going below 12 on backlight/brightness levels creates some PWM flicker, do you notice any flicker? and finally, do you plan to keep it and fully replace your LG?
@the.jose.martinez8 жыл бұрын
+Portable Base thanks for your comment. As long as your using HDMI 2.0 and using RBG full of 444 limited, the text is completely clear and the color was able to match up to my LG. But you have to sit right in front of the tv. If you look at if from an angle, you lose all color reproduction. I am keeping this for editing and gaming (70% gaming) and keeping my LG monitor at the studio for 100% editing. But the tv is great for both as long as you can deal with the small quirks. I love the TV for video editing.
@the.jose.martinez8 жыл бұрын
+Portable Base BTW, I keep my back light at 15 in a dark room and at 20 when playing games. No flickers at 15 and haven't tried below but someone else has and they say it's perfect for editing at 10

hello, I come from OMGadgets channel, he said your analysis of this tv made him try it, so I wanted wanted to ask you what I asked in his video too, that is. What do you think about input lag etc if I would use the TV to edit sound to Image, I mean detailed sound design for video and sometimes games, but not gaming at all. Is the lag reffered to live movements on games etc or will it introduce some fine displacement or latency between the image and the sound. Thanks!
@the.jose.martinez7 жыл бұрын
+Guido Ronconi the input lag is just for gaming reference. If your editing video and audio, there is absolutely no lag. I edit professionally on it. I just don't use it for color grading. So no worries on the lag for audio and video editing. Thank you for watching!

I'm finding that for HDR content (PS4 Pro) the backlight must be at 20 or the content is way to dark. Have you seen something similar? I find a lower backlight settings much better in my lighting conditions, so it is kind of frustrating to have to manually switch when an HDR game is played.
@the.jose.martinez8 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 100% I've been experiencing this too lately. Playing games is great with backlight at 20 but i always find myself manually setting it back down to about 10 afterwards. agree with the frustration. Let me know if you come up with a easier solution. I'll do the same.
