Been eating at Zito's since I was a kid when Joe Zito opened the store on Nocodoches in the early 80's which later moved to Broadway. Ate there at least once a week during high school for lunch back when we could leave campus. It really is a great place and will never forget Joe Sr's hat collection on the walls to the point there was no room left. He and his wife were really one of a kind and what made it what it is. It hasn't been uncommon to have a line all the way across the place to the furthest door at lunch so get there early or be prepared to wait for a few min.

I tried the Serious Sandwich that day and Zito's soon became my go lunch spot. I'm a simple man. I love a good sandwich. Zito's makes some damn good sandwiches.

I hear a name like Zito's and right away think Greek food which got me to thinking about and missing the tastey Gyros that they used to serve up at Athens Greek Express, formerly at 111 S. Flores right next to the Paul Elizondo Tower (courthouse) in downtown San Antonio. If you found yourself serving jury duty (pre-pandemic) and were in the mood for some awesome Mediterranean cuisine, that was the place to go. They closed up suddenly about two years ago before Covid. I sure do miss that place and their friendly staff!

@@texasguy5377 Yes, I can definately confirm that the historic Mexican Manhattan (110 Soledad) did close it's doors in October of 2020. I wouldn't say that it was the best Mexican food you could find downtown but it was the staff and waiter's commitment to old-school service that set it apart. I'll miss their tamales smothered in ground beef chile lunch special the most. And they always kept your tea glass full.

4:30 - I can see why my man didn't sound all that enthused about this place. C'mon sandwich dude, why did you CHEAP OUT on the sando served to the big man? Two regular sized folks might just need a "halfa" but my man could easily down TWO whole ones with easy. If they are stingy with a guy giving them LOTS of free TV pub I can imagine how they treat "regular" customers. I bet this sandwich costs at least $16 for a whole which is ridiculous. About 4 ounces of meet and cheese tops. I'll pass.

Have you ever been there? Have you ever eaten a serious? If not I suggest you withhold judgement till you do bc I go there frequently and I've eaten that sandwich and it is definently enough for 2 people if you get the full size and I'm a big dude myself. You clearly don't know what you're talking about
@jaysantos5363 жыл бұрын
@@trevordelarosa3599 My "judgment" was based on the video which clearly showed the sandwich and the menu that showed the price. I have paid $8 or $9 for LARGE philly cheese steaks in PHILLY and about the same for po-boys in La. But this is a generic sandwich that has ZERO "history" except for this business and its flat OVER priced. The BREAD and lettuce is big. the meat and cheese portions are small. Nothing unique about it at all. Anyone could make it at home for about $4.00.
