Fun Fact: Mathew Lillard (Shaggy from live action Scooby due, stu from scream) was cast as Negan. They did want Jeffery Dean Morgan and he was the first pick, but there were worries about scheduling conflicts, so they did the standered casting process and Mathew Lillard was the best, but right before he signed the contract Jeffery Dean Morgan scheduled cleared so he was cast instead

@Courier_Seven I feel like he could have been reeaally good... but I can't imagine him being as intimidating, he's just not as physically imposing. Not that Negan is huge, its just that Lillard is lanky. I thought Robert Pattinson was going to be a trash batman... after watching Batman, I give all actors the benefit of the doubt.

I would love to see you make a “what if” video on if Frank Darabont had remained the director for the entire show. I think it’s a really interesting topic to theorize on because the show would’ve been much shorter and I was always curious how he’d direct the prison arc, Terminus, Alexandria, Negan, etc.. Those first two seasons are so nostalgic and it’s the biggest shame that Darabont was fired… the second biggest shame being that season 3 was the last time we ever hear The Mercy of the Living

I feel like many more important comic moments would have been implemented and rick and carls relationship would be a lot better and carls character would be much better. But they probably struggled with Carl bc he’s a lot younger in the comic

Durabont hade very interesting plans , for example remember that random zombie in the tank that Rick shoots in the first episode ? He was supposed to be the lead character of a prequel-esque line of episodes exploring how society fell apart during the outbreak. Could've been so cool to see , never forget how AMC butchered the show simply because they wanted more episodes so they could milk the show's success rather than letting the story be told

But seriously, I never got into this show as it wasn't my cup of tea but I really enjoyed this entire movie of a video. I remember how absolutely huge this show was and how it was on everyone's lips when I was in high school. Even though it wasn't my thing, I still wondered what happened on the show for it to go so wrong for fans. The amount of people that just stopped talking about it when they were so obsessed before interested me, so thanks for this video! It was very informative and entertaining. Subscribed 😤🔥

The scene with Lori appalled at Rick for killing Shane is misinterpreted in my opinion. She wasn’t appalled by him killing Shane, she was furious that Carl was forced to put reanimated Shane down even though it was to save his father. She never wanted Carl to be exposed to that kind of trauma so young and blamed Rick for putting Carl in that position, even though Rick didn’t realize Carl was following him until it was too late. Also, I’ve watched all your walking dead recaps and absolutely love these and have not come across any other channel that puts these together so well and easily digestible for general viewers. I’ve rewatched TWD an embarrassing amount of times and while I also gain new perspectives every watch, I genuinely enjoy hearing yours and reading the comments. Yeah I agree, she was even putting in Rick's head that he SHOULD do it. When they're in the tent she was saying something along the lines of "if you did this to protect what's yours, what would Shane do? Shane thinks we're his." (Refering to Carl and Lorrie) She knew Rick knew that he wouldn't be able ro be persuaded, so she was basically saying that he's gotta go.

Thats cool, anyway, information about particle accelerator: Building a particle accelerator is an extremely complex and highly specialized task that requires significant knowledge in physics, engineering, and advanced technology. Particle accelerators are used to accelerate charged particles to high speeds, often approaching the speed of light, and are used in various scientific fields, including physics research, medical treatments, and materials science. Here are the basic steps and concepts involved in the creation of a particle accelerator: 1. Determine the Purpose: Decide the type of particle accelerator you want to build. There are different types, such as linear accelerators (linacs) and circular accelerators (synchrotrons). The purpose of the accelerator, like particle physics experiments or medical treatments, will influence your design. 2. Designing the Accelerator: Vacuum System: A vacuum chamber is required to reduce the interaction of the accelerated particles with air, which could slow them down or scatter them. The vacuum system also helps to control the environment where the particles travel. Particle Source: A particle source is necessary to create the initial particles (electrons, protons, ions, etc.). In a linac, this could be an electron gun, while in a synchrotron, it might be an ion source. Electromagnetic Fields: Particle accelerators use electric and magnetic fields to accelerate and steer the particles. Linear accelerators typically use oscillating electric fields, while circular accelerators use both electric and magnetic fields to guide particles in circular orbits. Accelerating Structure: This component uses electromagnetic fields (created by RF cavities, for example) to increase the energy of the particles. In a linac, the particles move through a series of accelerating cavities. In a synchrotron, radiofrequency (RF) cavities are used to accelerate the particles as they travel in a ring. Magnetic Focusing: Magnets, particularly dipole magnets, are used to steer the particles and keep them focused, preventing them from diverging too much as they accelerate. 3. Build or Obtain Components: You'll need powerful magnets, high-frequency RF generators, vacuum pumps, and beam diagnostics equipment. These components are expensive and require precision engineering to ensure they work together seamlessly. 4. Safety Considerations: Particle accelerators generate significant radiation, which can be hazardous. Extensive safety protocols must be followed to protect workers and the environment. This includes radiation shielding, safety interlocks, and monitoring systems. 5. Energy Supply and Power Systems: Particle accelerators require a substantial amount of energy to operate, particularly in the case of large-scale machines like synchrotrons. The power systems must be able to deliver high amounts of energy reliably. 6. Cooling Systems: Accelerators generate a lot of heat due to the electrical components and magnets. A cooling system is essential to prevent overheating. 7. Beam Control and Detection: Once the particles are accelerated, you need systems to detect and control the particle beam. This could involve particle detectors, beam scanners, or other measurement tools to monitor the performance of the accelerator. Important Considerations: Cost: Particle accelerators can be extremely expensive to build and operate, especially large-scale ones. Complexity: The engineering and scientific expertise required are advanced and typically beyond the reach of most DIY or small-scale projects. Legal and Ethical Issues: Depending on the size and use of the particle accelerator, there may be legal regulations regarding radiation and safety. If you are looking to experiment or learn about particle acceleration, a more practical approach is to study existing designs and perhaps build a small, tabletop linear accelerator (sometimes used for educational purposes) that is safe and manageable in scale. However, for a full-scale accelerator, it typically requires significant collaboration with research institutions, universities, or government labs.

The Walking Dead has a special place in my heart, because it was one of the first shows that actually made me take tv seriously instead of just having it has background noise. I really used to argue with people that the TWD was better than GOT lol. Rick Grimes is also my favorite tv protagonist ever, seeing him change over the seasons really hit. TWD was great for me all the way up to season 8, and the Carl death definitely killed the show for me.

I still think, that despite its many later fumbles and dropped balls Walking dead the tv show did something you don't see in tv shows. it had plenty of heart, it felt like it was striving for more than just one season. Sure there are plenty of limited series and seasons that only need 1 season, but Walking Dead was something that i am glad got how many seasons it got. There is still plenty of things to talk about in regards to stories in this universe. For me it was always the characters and their interconnections like Rick and Shane, Carl and Judith, and personally my favourite Rick and Michonne. Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, as Rick and Michonne both sold their roles perfectly, for me at least.

Heck you’re idea would have been a better series finale with CRM vs Commonwealth and Rick coming back could have wrapped everything up. Guess TOWL is that wrap up. Thanks for the retrospective of TWD I can’t wait to see what else you do buddy. Thank you 3000

I have such a soft spot for TWD. I was a big fan of the comics when I was in high school and followed every detail about the series obsessively after it was announced. I left Voodoo Fest early on Halloween 2010 just so I could watch the premiere and encore, and it was a part of my life throughout my 20s and early 30s as I went through college and went on to enter the workforce. It wasn't perfect, especially near the end, but the vibes and nostalgia will live with me forever.

1:17:13 I have something to say about Beth Greene. As an avid Walking Dead fan, I remember when she was first introduced and I found myself unable to care about her because she came off as whiny and unable or unwilling to adapt to the world around her. So by the time we make it to the prison falling at the end of season 3, I was worried about what kind of story telling we'd get with her, because prior to season 4 and 5, she didn't have that much story to tell, which makes sense as there were more pressing story beats that needed that time. Thus, my idea of Beth was that she was simply a background character that was there to act as a filler member of the group in a way. Then when making it to season 4 with her storyline with Daryl, I really started to warm up to her. I think her most important scene in Season 4 is during the episode titled "Still". Her dialogue with Daryl in Season 4 Episode 12 hit extremely hard for me. It almost felt like Beth wasn't just talking to Daryl, but also in a way, the audience. "I know you just look at me and see another dead girl. I'm not Michonne, I'm not Carol, I'm not Maggie. I survived and you don't get it cause I'm not like you or them, but I made it." Whether it was by sheer luck, or because of her learning about survival, or even the people around her protecting her, she survived. She made it all that time even if Daryl or the audience didn't think it made sense. That was when I finally started to look at Beth with a new mindset. The reason I found her to be as insufferable as I did in the beginning was because I was comparing her to Maggie, Michonne, Carol, and everyone else in the group, but the thing is, she wasn't them. When watching season 5, her main storyline in the hospital was interesting. She had to be cunning, smart, strong, and she was. When comparing Beth to Noah, two characters who are very similar in regards to their abilities and situation, I found Beth to be the stronger survivor of the two. I caught myself thinking that and came to the realization that Beth had changed in a drastic way. Maybe not as drastic as Rick or others, but for Beth, for who she was prior to the world becoming what it did, Beth had a drastic change for Beth's standards. She had grown into such a smart, kind-hearted and determined survivor, which completely juxtaposes the quiet, meek girl who tried to end her own life in season 2. So by the time we make it to the Mid Season Finale for Season 5, when we lose Beth, I couldn't help but feel as though there was so much wasted potential. That Beth was wasted potential. She was given pretty much an entire half season to be a primary character where she proved she could survive on her own, and it all was cut too short, in my opinion upon initially watching it when it premiered. (Also Side Note: I do have to personally disagree on the Daryl/Beth romance Idea simply because there is so much throughout the show that alludes to Daryl being Queer to some degree, like his toxic familial relationships and why they were so hard on him and wanting him to "be a man", why he never had a relationship for the longest time within the show, which further shows his isolation in a new light upon rewatch, as well as the amount of storylines Daryl got with Aaron, and a little bit of Eric, once the group gets to Alexandria in the tail end of season 5 and all of season 6. Aaron tries to relate to Daryl because they're both "outsiders" amongst the Alexandrite's. From day one, I always viewed Daryl as a Queer character closeted out of fear and conformity due to his home life, and thus only viewed Daryl and Beth as having a Brother/Sister relationship and Daryl and Carol having a Mother/Son relationship. I feel those mindsets completely recontextualize those three characters and their scenes in the show, mainly Daryl in a really profound way. However, that is just my personal opinion and head canon, so do with that what you will.) Upon rewatching this show with my boyfriend recently, I found myself viewing Beth in a completely different light. I didn't find her insufferable in season 2, because her father told/taught her that their family members in the barn weren't dead, only sick. So she watched a bunch of strangers she was starting to warm up to essentially murder her family. She wasn't a "whiny" girl who refused to adapt, she was a scared teenage girl who's entire world fell apart because she was lied to about the state of her zombified family. Not intentionally, or at least not with malice in mind, but lied to nonetheless. I started to look at Beth based on who she was and what we see instead of those around her. Yes, Maggie caught on faster, but Maggie was an adult. Many forget that Beth was a child when this all started. (Which is also why I was never a fan of, nor agreed with Daryl and Beth romances). Then in Season 3, she decided to step up, not in any major way like Maggie did, but still did in her own way. She started killing walkers, sang for a Morale boost, helped take care of Judith, etc. She began to grow, change and adapt at her own pace. By the time we get to season 4, she becomes jaded, not allowing herself to feel or grieve because she's tired of being viewed as weak by the others. Then in season 5 she becomes her own character. Finds strength she didn't know she had, uses her ability to come off as meek to be a wolf in sheep's clothing among the hospital group. She even killed her first human, which is a huge step for her as Glenn at this point in the story have still not crossed that bridge. Then, she proves to Dawn that she isn't invulnerable. She shows Dawn that all it takes is one choice, one little deviant action to throw everything you thought you had in control into chaos, but it ended up costing her life. That to me is not wasted potential. She lived up to her potential, which makes me take a hard second look at her and what she represents. So, I think I finally have my answer. Beth was never wasted potential, she was a potential that was lived up to. She did everything right in terms of learning to survive, making hard choices, using her strengths to her advantage, but even though she made all that progress, she still ended up dying. I think what her character represents is that you can start off weak, start off without the proper training or knowledge to make it, but you can still take the time to grow and learn. And even though you can take the time to prepare yourself, no amount of preparation can stop real world scenarios. Beth learning to survive and proving she could do so, even on her own, wasn't enough to save her. Just goes to show, you can do everything right and still wind up dead at the end of the day. A brutal reminder to the group of survivors that anything can happen even to those who are capable. That's at least, how I like to look at her character upon a rewatch. However, I totally get Thrifty's point of view when it comes to discussing the show's bigger problem at hand which is shock for the sake of shock. I do think Beth and quite a few other character's ends could've been handled with a bit more grace and poise. I do wish Maggie had more moments of asking or talking about Beth, as I think that would help alleviate some issues with the writing. But yeah, everything I said above still stands. Sorry for the long comment, I have my degree in writing and I love analyzing stuff.

them not having a place to go after the prison was one of the biggest questions for me. like they had everything planned except what to do if something happened was odd and they all just started ending up in the same place with the coincidence

I remember how in season 11 there was a scene with Rosita telling Carol about a dream where she saw Abraham screaming and trying to warn her about danger but never getting close enough to her. That made me realize how cool it would have been if that dream had been some kind of foreshadowing of the real danger of the reapers and Abe was trying to warn Rosita that Pope was actually Abraham's brother named Broderic Ford who was seeking revenge for his brother's death and that's why he attacked Maggie knowing that she was part of the group that Abraham joined and that Broderic considers guilty of his brother's death. That's why even though he could have easily killed her Broderic left Maggie alive so that she could lead him to the others and get revenge on everyone responsible for his loss. This would be a really simple way to tie the events of the past into the present and give the Reapers a greater purpose than just being a necessary plot device. And to make things even more interesting, they could keep Pope's identity a secret until the end of episode 8 when Broderic takes off his Reaper mask for the first time, revealing to everyone that he's Abraham's twin brother. That way, Michael Cudlitz could return for a surprise appearance in a special episode.

Hey man! I love all your work, just an idea for more TWD content. How about an analysis on the episode focusing on Beth and Daryl when they burn that cabin. I think it's a really good episode and I also think a lot of people misinterpret the relationship between Daryll and Beth (I don't think it was romantic but I think a lot of people thought it was). Could you do a video analysis on this S4 episode?
