Say what you like about Parnis- it’s not inaccurate, your comment about their lack of originality. Nevertheless, having owned one for about two years now I can attest that with respect to their movements accuracy, it is - in my opinion- superior to my 1995 Tag Heuer, 2016 Seiko, and 1964 Tudor Prince Oysterdate. Also, I like that the rotor is loud when presented alongside my other automatics, because it confirms every time I wear it that I’m not wearing a Rolex, because it’s not a Rolex. Also, my Parnis says Parnis and it’s not a “fake”, it’s a genuine automatic watch with a solid movement. Furthermore, regarding the homage/copycat watches, Tudors are absolutely copies of Rolex, but because they’re more expensive (i.e. exclusive and not necessarily attainable by the majority of people) they’re an acceptable watch, whereas my Parnis isn’t. That’s a load of bull elitists use to create artificial barriers between collectors and watch enthusiasts. Please don’t misconstrue my comments as attacking - I very much respect and enjoy your opinion, but I don’t always agree and think that occasionally you’re a little myopic in your perspective. My Parnis is an excellent watch and if anything happens to it I’m okay. The others - due to love and emotional attachment (two were inherited and one was a gift from my father in law) - would break my heart if anything happened to them. That’s the awesomeness of companies like Parnis - worry free enjoyment. All the best, Jory. Please continue to post your fun and informative videos, DTP

Tudor is a brand with much longer heritage and is owned by the same parent company as rolex, that is why it is not as talked down upon, not because it is more “expensive”. Also, Parnis’s are just a straight copy of rolex models when it comes to design, while Tudor’s have attributes that distinguish them from Rolex’s.

I agree, I purchased a no name (recently called Corguet) because I loved the look. When I was at my jeweler getting a band for it (just didn't like the original), he pointed out that my watch looked very much like the Tutor Heritage Bay. He pulled one out and I compared it. It was exactly the same, except for the crown and the Tutor name on the dial.... but the watch I got was under $100 and the Tutor was going for 4k. That being said, the Tutor Homage is my daily watch.

Good points. I like that you address topics that no other ones want to deal with. I had an homage once; I couldn't stand to know that was a copy, even when the original is impossible to get. The reason Japanese people don’t complain, is generally they’re nice people. I’ve been to Japan several times and have more friends in Japan that I have in the United States. They appreciate people trying to speak the language even if you butcher it. If you ”appropriate” aspects of their culture, they don’t get upset, generally they appreciate it. Maybe it’s because they did the same thing since 1868, who knows…. Maybe it’s because they really appreciate when other people use aspects of their their culture.

What has soured it for me early on is that, of the three new watches that I have bought and received, only the beater sub $500 watch has not required warranty service. And regarding scalpers, regardless of what you figure you can afford, you should not drop to your knees and blow them on principle. Don't be part of the market that rewards them for operating as they do.

If someone freaks out, gets angry, returns a quartz watch, and complains about it on the Internet because the second hands don’t line up perfectly your comment about lack of humor is spot on. This is a very helpful video my friend.. I collect watches that are appropriate to my financial status, my activities & my style.. I have a price limit of how much I am willing to spend on a watch & that is why only micro brands are for me.. Tissot for swiss watch, Seiko for japanese & Casio for digital beater watch.., I am happy, thankful & contented on my watch collections.. I think the Omega, Rolex & other luxury watches are only for those who are very very rich people because they deserve it & I never wanted a watch that expensive.. A watch is still just to tell time & also be a jewelry.., but if it is more expensive than buying a gold bracelet like for example a watch that is worth 1,000 dollars & above, then I would rather buy a gold bracelet than a watch... being contented & thankful to the blessings we receive is the key to happiness & joy..

The problem with knowingly purchasing a 'replica/fake' watch, is like you said, you 'KNOW' its fake and you try not to run into anyone who may be able to tell because once you get called out, you tend to be marked inwardly as a cheat. Asking someone why they want a Rolex is not the right question. They want what the Rolex represents. But it might as well be a Ferrari. They want to appear like they made a huge investment, but they don’t want to make the huge investment. In other words, it’s people who feel okay about cheating to appear like someone who’s winning in life. So like with most immoral behavior, the root cause is once again insecurity. People buy fake Rolexes out of insecurity.

I can tell you why, my dream watch is $10,000. There is nothing else like it except a $500 homage. Don’t say save up for it because that’s more than I live on in the year.

Jory, I agree. This should be Fun. After all, It should be giving us joy. Even If your a "watch speculator". If Watch Collecting, is not bringing you joy. Perhaps, It's NOT for you.

Those promotional scams for watch subscription/box services are pretty amazing. If you agree to pretend to have received a rolex (beaten up datejust, as you say), the sub service is gonna pay you enough hush-money that you can buy a brand new genuine sub at an AD.

What annoys me most in the watch space is the Rolex lovers. They think that Rolex are the best branded watches in the world, but that is purely a snapshot in time (Liverpool have not always been top of the league). Critically, if there were NO other watch makers competing for the top spot such as Omega, Bvglari, GP, Bell & Ross, Hublot and Bremont, then do you think Rolex would do such a good job for their customers? The watch manufacturers that still use ETA movements keep the price down for service costs on in-house movements and so on.
