Disney's Contemporary Resort Tour | Hotel Grounds Walking Tour, Food Locations & Outdoor Amenities

In today's vlog we head to Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort for a walking tour of the hotel grounds. First we take a look at the lobby, gift shops, arcade and food locations (Chef Mickey's, The Wave, Contempo Cafe, & Cove Bar). Am I the only one that would love to see tours of the 4 parks? I know there's maps all over online and on the Disney app, but would be cool to see the placement of a lot of the shops, restaurants, rides, etc. before visiting too.

I am a person with a disability that went with my parents to WDW more then once. I haven’t been there since the mid 1980s. I’d just like to thank you for these videos. My absolute favorite resort. It's got the best lay-out on the club level, and doesn't make you walk a mile to get to a bus if you need one. Also that smell is amazing. the 14th floor is completely cut off from the sound of the rest, and since you get a perfect view of the fireworks with music piped in from the lounge's balcony, the best rooms are on the Bay Lake side, where you can see the Epcot fireworks and watch the water parade! They also give you these neat chocolate boxes (literally made of chocolate and filled with chocolate bonbons) with the Contemporary logo screened on in edible gold. 14 & 12 are the club floors, and both secure. If you're not staying on them, the elevator won't allow you to stop on them. The personnel is also very nice. The last time we stayed, we had a luggage emergency, requiring us to buy new suitcases before we left, only we had to leave so early that the stores were closed. They actually opened one of the stores for us to allow us to buy what we needed to get our clothes and things packed.

We were there during Christmas, and I can't stress how much easier the monorail access made travel with the crowds. You'll love it!

The Story Factory I’ve stayed in the garden rooms the last 2 visits because it was away from the noise. I didn’t know about the club level. I’ll check that out. However I will say staying in the 1st floor garden room was super easy to take a quick swim. And we faced bay lake so we sat on our patio for the boat parade. The contemporary is THE most convenient of the resorts. Monorail right there and if you’re at Magic Kingdom at park closing and the monorail lines are bad you can walk back to the hotel.

Thank you for taking me back to my favorite resort on property! I worked there on the 4th floor in the 3 different merch locations for 4 months when I was on the Spring Disney College Program in 2011. There are so many cool little design features of that building both on stage and off stage. The stock rooms for the shops are located right on the edges of the building and you'd have to watch your head because you're right up against the building supports. The monorail would always make the walls rumble too.

Worth noting Tim. My last visit to WDW I noticed that items in the souvenir store at the deluxe resorts are cheaper than at the value resorts. The exact same coffee mug from the Contemporary was at least $2 cheaper than at the Pop Century.

YESSSSSSS This is the only resort my family and I have ever stayed at. How can you beat a unique thing such as A FREAKING MONORAIL IN YOUR HOTEL. And I know it doesn't necessarily "feel" like Disney, but it feels like home away from home. Lots of care, very open, unique style, BEAUTIFUL views in any room, and just overall 10/10 for me EDIT: dang, no arcade ;-; there's an excellent game in the back corner where you have to buckle into a seat to play it. Pretty crazy & fun

You can get the contemporary resort scent from a company called scentHD we have it at home, the scent is green clover and aloe to hold us over until we get back to Disney.

This is where my family and I stayed in 2015,16 & 17, on the Club level. You definitely feel like royalty there. We parasailed and rented a boat the last time we were there. They also had a dinner called "Highway in the Sky" dine around. They assigned us our private car on the monorail.You start at the Contemporary for soup and drink, then to The Polynesian for appetizers and drink, then to The Grand Floridian for dinner and wine. We finished back at the Contemporary for dessert and after dinner drinks , this was located in the spot you showed with seats and the perfect view of the fireworks . It was a perfect Disney experience... Thanks for the tour, really brought back awesome memories.

I enjoy your enthusiasm for Disney. When I was a kid I was fortunate enough to stay at the Contemporary every year. Your video was very nostalgic. When I was a kid I used to explore every crook & nanny in the hotel. Back in 1975 that was the same area to rent the water sprites and other water rentals!

Hi Tim, I stayed there in 1972 in a Tower Room on the 12th floor facing Bay Lake, then again in 1977 this time on the 8th Floor but facing the Magic Kingdom, I watched the fireworks from my balcony.

I came across your channel when I was looking for walk-thrus of Fort Wilderness, and I'm glad I did. You're kind of a lovable dork, and entertaining to virtually hang out with on these little tours. You've even managed to make the Contemporary seem fun! It's my least favorite resort, because of the 70s office park vibe, but I've seen it with fresh eyes. Last year I found myself on a four-day layover in Orlando, between author conferences. I did a one-day park hopper pass, because I didn't care to blow a bunch of cash for four days of "loner in Disney World." But for the other days I just parked at Disney Springs and hopped the buses to the various resorts, exploring them a lot like how you're doing. So this has been nostalgic and fun for me. I'm leaving for Orlando in a couple of days, and will have some more downtime, so I'm using your videos to "prime the pump." Thanks so much for the tours!

Great! They still have the "photo Mickey" on the Bay Lake side. I was getting worried they moved it (again). Roughly same spot, but moved when they "reimagineered" the old square pool. Always do a family shot there, so have a progression of the kids growing up through the years with each visit. Of course the first one was just my wife and I - might be back to that shot next visit.

I loved staying at the Contemporary. It was so convenient to the other resort hotels. We sometimes hopped over to the Floridian to eat. Our room had the lakeside view. The bathroom was luxurious .

The balcony under the monorail track is where you watch the fireworks when you the Highway in the Sky Dine Around. Great way to end the night with a fantastic view. A little pricey but a great experience.

I remember in 1980 my family stayed here for 3 days during the summer. I remember being amazed by the monoral coming through the middle of the hotel but my most vivid memory was of a severely mentally handicapped man who was confined to a wheelchair biting on to my upper left bicep & refusing to let go until his mother eventually hit him with her cane until he began to bleed from the center of his scalp. GOOD TIMES!!!

Two trips ago in 2015 we had the opportunity to dine at California Grill and it was absolutely magical. We were seated in a room overlooking Bay Lake, this particular room only seat a half dozen parties or so making the space quite intimate. Our table was directly against the window and the particular evening was accompanied by a tremendous lightning storm, only enhancing our experience. The seating, service, and dining were all so spectacular and unique that I don't envision us ever returning, as it could only be worse. P.S. Watching Wishes from up top was unbeatable.

We've done the parasailing and the jet ski tour and both of them were probably the two best experiences we've ever done at Disney world! Would definitely recommend to anyone, and can't wait to see your videos Tim :)
