Today's vlog is the start of our California trip vlogs! We're so excited to share these adventures with you. We start the day at the airport, where Jackson boards a plane for the very first time! He didn't nap on the plane but we still had a great trip! Then we head to the Grand Californian Hotel where we give you a tour of our standard view 2 queen room. We had a monorail view which was a really cool surprise! We also had a quick dinner at the all new Craftsman Lounge before Jackson's bedtime. Then Tim went out into the resort to give you a quick tour and to try some of the seasonal treats being sold around the hotel. This was a great check in day and we're so excited for tomorrow! Thank you for hanging out with us on our travel day! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

And it is interesting how, as a parent, you see the world differently than when you were childless. For example, Tim was bummed out that they didn't have a tub to bath Jackson. He may not have paid attention before. Now that Jackson is here, they have to pay more attention 😁

@@annb.2106These days you have to ask about amenities like tubs v. showers when you’re booking the reservation; especially when you’re staying in a newer, fancier hotel like the Grand Californian. It’s getting so you can’t find a tub or tub/shower combo in many hotels built after the 90s or the 2000s. I prefer baths too, & I’m a middle-aged woman! I just feel like I’m drowning in a shower stream, unless I can make it super gentle. My maternal grandpa also took a bath every day, or almost every day, until he died in his 90s, 14 years ago. I think awhile back Jenn or Tim said something about getting suggestions for traveling bathtub substitutes; I know it’s 1 more thing to pack, but maybe they should look into at least a smallish 1 that fits Jackson.

Too bad there isn’t a “baby guard” you can attach to a phone somehow, so inquisitive babies/toddlers can’t make unnecessary actual calls & run up the phone charges. They have baby gates & electric plug covers. I haven’t seen anything to keep phones going unused by babies, or even anything to put in bathrooms to keep from flushing stuff down toilets &/or turning on sink or tub water (maybe not so much showers), stopping the drain & flooding the bathroom.

😂🤣😂 I feel your pain! We travelled from the U.K. to Orlando with our daughter when she was 18 moths old……I aged 20 years during the 9 hr flight and drive to the hotel. We laughed out loud when the key didn’t open the hotel room door and Tim said “ok back down to the front”. That resignation in adversity is very familiar. We returned to Florida almost every year and it got better as we became more adept at juggling, she’s 28 now and it’s much easier 😂. I loved the fact that Tim’s hair remained immaculate, as Jen’s became more disheveled…….love this channel!

I love the fact that you come out here to California because a lot of us from here watch you as well even though most of your things are done in Florida however, I really wish that you would consider when doing a trip outside of Florida that you would give a little bit more information… For example, @thetimtracker mentioned using a car service and the reason he use the car service however, there was no information about what car service you used and how you compared them and came up with that one and I would have loved to see you guys come out here and stay somewhere else other than on property mainly because the rooms are getting so expensive especially now that they raised the prices again that majority of people stay offsite because as you know there are so many options right across the street

As a small child I was okay popping my ears going through mountains on road trips, and then I took my first flight at about 8 or 9, and I could NOT get my ears to pop on the plane and it was SO painful. Thankfully for the flight back we found earplanes for me to wear to help equalize my ears. Unfortunately the next time we went on a road trip I started having problems popping my ears in the car! I wasn’t able to drive through mountains or fly without earplanes until I was in my early 20s, and I bring a pair just in case anyways

When I was 4, we flew from Cleveland to DC to shop for houses in the DC area (my dad's job was getting transferred), and I had a raging ear infection at the time. Agonizing pain the whole way. I think the cabin pressure in those old 707s was lower than what they use now, too. I had a lot of those infections and I think the scar tissue made it very hard for me to equalize pressure in my ears for many years.

I heard on a family vlog, may have been Our Tribe of Many, that when flying with young children, go ahead and buy them a ticket for their own seat and bring a car seat. They understand traveling in a car seat and aren't overstimulated by sitting in your lap for a long time. Flying with young children is so challenging and I thought that was really insightful advice.

This is good advice. Putting our kid in her own seat with a child seat or booster always worked better. Getting the seat through security could be a pain but you could also use it in a rental car at the far end if you got one.

You two look deliriously tired! When I work night shifts at Disney, I always always always get a phone call from a toddler!!! The parents are usually flabbergasted when they take the phone away from the child and realize they called our office and their baby was talking to someone. You know I can only imagine how crazy it is for Disneyland cast right now. From experience, it took 2 months for my rehire process (I had 11 years in) and they’ve only been open a few months. “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” That was never more true when the parks and hotels were closed. I’m sure they were really working hard to take care of everyone as quickly as possible. Hope you weren’t too upset. “To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past-and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America-with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.” Remember when you stayed at GCH for the first time and the greeter said, “Welcome to the Grand Californian and may I say, ‘butts, butts, butts’!”

Haven't flown in LONG time, but always used to touch the side before I boarded too, and said (yes, out loud - don't judge me! LOL) "Please get us there safely". Glad Jackson was good on the plane, too bad he wouldn't sleep. At least you had a whole row to yourselves. Nice to see a regular Keurig in the room, that means you could bring/use your own fave pods if you wanted to, but nice to see they supplied some also. Nice room, love the Griffith Park artwork, very meaningful. Love all the lighting controls, and all the USB's. Very thoughtfully designed room. As longs as it's not too noisy, I'd love the room view - you can watch all the comings and goings. Sorry you had a not-great check-in experience. That chocolate milk shot glass was cute, and looked good, but I don't think worth anywhere NEAR $8.00. Never eaten there, but have always heard great thing about it also - hopefully you did get a chance to try it. Socially distanced hugs from New Jersey to the 3 of you. Stay safe, stay positive, stay healthy!!

Then he & his parents got on a plane & the characters were in the same place.they went. It’s not that important, I guess; I just wondered if he thinks the characters followed his family from Orlando, or maybe the characters live in every state, or what? Some kids his age get it; some don’t. You know?

So cool seeing him experience a first time plane ride! Maybe when he's older and if you and Jenn allow it, a lollipop works just as well for ear-popping. Especially nowadays with the airline mask mandates, when the kids are eating a lollipop they can take their mask off and not have to deal with ear-popping!

This was a great Vlog- mainly because as a parent- we have all been there w/ a “wild child” , on a trip where things just don’t go smoothly! 😆 Jackson is THE cutest little guy! He brightens up every Vlog! Wild on this one- but absolutely adorable!! Big hugs to u guys! As a parent who never drank-ever- once we had children a good margarita or glass of wine at the end of the night is “self care” 😉. Can’t wait for the rest of the videos!

Anytime you take children off of their normal routines, they get kind of wild! Lol! Taught preschool for ten years and anytime we had any school event/program that threw us off of our normal routine, boy oh boy, did I have a class of craziness!! Lots of hyper and very rambunctious children. Fun times! 😆

There’s nothing like it for me. All day my head is filled with my problem and then for a little while I sit and watch your videos and those worries are gone. It’s honestly getting me through this tough period. Thank you so much for doing what you do.
