I believe in the lower 48 US states both the highest and lowest points aren’t that far apart (Mount Whitney and Death Valley). Both are in California and are about 85 miles (136.2km) from each other. It is possible to hike to the top (14,505ft/4,421m), though it’s a very long hike. Death Valley is -282 feet (-85m) below sea level... and it has set temperature records approaching insanity (134F/56.7C) though there are some disputes over that figure as it was taken in 1913 with less than precise equipment.

Doing a cover from Girls Aloud - "I Can't Speak French" for your French pronunciation segment are the small details that really make us love the channel and your production.

I love the bit at the end when you tell us how to get there too. The information about accessibility is wonderful, and it really lets people know whether it will be within in their travel capabilities. It would be great if everyone did this.

At 6:50. I honestly thought you were going to say "squirrel" in French--"écureuil." I still have a difficult time with it. It's way harder to pronounce than "grenouille." It's also the fun word that allows native English-speakers to tell if you're foreign--no foreigner can say the English word "squirrel" properly. Watching French and German people pronounce "squirrel" is HILARIOUS! LOL!

Amazing how a random video on the Afsluitdijk propelled you to (reasonable) KZbin stardom due to the vagaries of the recommendation algorithms. I still rewatch your videos often simply because I love hearing you talk.

Question answered! For the longest time, I thought that the intro music was the Instrumental from a song called "Make A New Dance Up" by a band I was really into at University, called "Hey Ocean!" And now I know...it isn't. Nice work, Tim.

Wait, fact about British travel programmes of the 70s/80s - this means that Gordon Giltrap had written the theme music for both Wish You Were Here and the BBCs Holiday programme? That's impressive

So you've met my favourite Englishman, Jay Foreman? Je suis trop jaloux! He's the person I want to meet more than any other movie star, celebrity or politician, or singer, or anyone famous. Well done! That's actually the best thing about you now, in my opinion. Gish, you're so lucky. This guy must be so enlightening.

On the unfinished London, it was an experience watching that the first time round (probably as it came out?) and you being just "just some bloke", and then coming back to it after discovering this channel a couple of years back. Very much a "wait, a second, rewind that, is that Tim?!".

Hey Tim. Found your channel right before Covid through Jay Foreman's videos. I had just come home from a depressing time in college and was hoping to travel Europe for about a year or so before going back to normal life. Your channel has not only shown me places I want to go in the future, but has allowed to vicariously have that expedition during Covid lockdown. Love the channel man, and whether it gets bigger or becomes more casual, the videos are great stuff!.

You actually say Grenouille extremely well there! I'm impressed. I've noticed you tend to over-enunciate a bit when speaking french in your videos (which I suspect is both because you're speaking to a camera and to keep things clear because it's for a video mostly watched by non-native speakers) so this almost came as a surprise: you were about 99.8% perfect on Grenouille; so from a native French+English speaker: welcome to the bilingual club!

I was a little bummed that you didn't include Norway in the "Around the world in one city" video, but I got it very much in this video. I even tried to find some "outlandish" places in my city, but it is small, so I (and none of my Facebook friends) could find any. I guess that is the quest you mentioned in the end of that video. (The only thing we have are some Chinese restaurants). I love your videos and wish you a great year with more and more travel (if you ever go to the birth city of Ibsen, I can show you his houses)
