My wife and I lived in Laos 2007-2015. There was a local guy who restored old Vespas. You see a few on the road in Vientiane. The restorer was a bit of a mysterious guy and no one knew much about him. If he couldn't get parts, he'd make them. A mechanical genius, apparently. There was one Vespa that always caught my eye. A cream coloured one, probably mid 1960s, with a Watsonian style sidecar. A work of art only the Italians could make.

wow, looks somehow so futuristic
@thetinysideoftiny76253 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the view. The teardrop is modeled after a 1947 Cabin Car. The design for the time was cutting edge. I'm sure it looked like a "spaceship" back in the day. It still has a retro-futuristic element to the design!

Kia Ora Chris! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I do the subtitles bc I translate to all the major languages of the world. I want to share these quiet moments with the whole world :) Also, I follow some Japanese camping videos with English subtitles and I find the talking detracting. That said, I do plan on making some "talkies" in the future for a sub-series on my channel. I genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Please let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see on our adventures :)

it's so cool you can pull this with a vespa curious how much the little camper weighs ? also so cool for being so small that you can sit up inside and eat a meal. anxious to watch other of your adventures .
@thetinysideoftiny76252 жыл бұрын
Kia Ora Bob! The teardrop weighs just 170 pounds (77 KG). It is very roomy inside considering it’s size. I can sit up with no problem. In my Thanksgiving video, my friend Rob and I were forced to eat INSIDE the camper when it suddenly started to rain. I’m only 5’4” but he’s a full size man. We both fit and even had room for the tiny dinner table :)

Very nice video, thanks. I grew up just up the street from the owners of Meadows Scrapple in Altoona and agree that Scrapple is best with pure maple syrup!
@thetinysideoftiny76253 жыл бұрын
Brian, Meadows is the brand we always bought! As an adult, I can't bring myself to eat traditional Scrapple because it's comprised of "everything but the oink" LOL. The version I make in the video tastes close. Yes, lots and lots of maple syrup!! I grew up in Latrobe...just a stone's throw away from Altoona. Small world :)
@briankopp61713 жыл бұрын
I grew up in Altoona but lived in Johnstown for 25 years, and we had friends at the Abbey in Latrobe, so we spent a bit of time there. Scrapple is a lot like sausage - you’re better off not seeing how it’s made ;-)

Such a cool Tiny Camper! Saw the build and am impressed! BestRoy
@thetinysideoftiny76253 жыл бұрын
Hi Roy! I checked out some of your boat building videos. Beautiful builds! There may be a chance for some collaboration in the future. I've had this crazy idea (from the start) to build a small barge-like platform to turn the Vespa teardrop into a house boat. Idea is to wheel the teardrop onto the platform, lock it in, and take off for a house boat camping weekend! What part of Canada are you from? Maybe we can collaborate when I'm ready to take that on?
@roydesignedthat3 жыл бұрын
@@thetinysideoftiny7625 That sounds like a fun project! Some have done just that! Your Teardrop is so light it would even work on twin hulled "Hobbie" sailboat pontoons! Plenty of older used ones out there are cheap and a light structure or "track" for the wheels to roll on would save having too much weight where it is not needed! Under your trailer could be left open, just deck enough to be useful once the trailer is on! A 2.5 hp Would move you very well! A friend made a cheap small boat that cruised the whole Trent Severn waterway with such a motor set on idle and it cost all of $40!!! We are from Wasaga Beach, Ontario. South end of Georgian Bay. All the BestRoy

Nice little set up. Try using denatured alcohol or HEET to preheat the Optimus. A lot less scary and does not make a sooty mess of things either.

Kia Ora Collin! I don't think the little foam trailer would last very long connected to a dirt bike :) Luan underlayment or very thin birch might be a better choice for the body material. I will say as a motorcyclist, it's amazing to carry your house with you. Thanks for watching Collin!

Hi German! If nothing else, I hope I can help people understand that you don't need much to be happy. A tiny scooter with a little foam trailer = joy. The best part has been human connection. It's opened up a new world for me. From neighbors across the street I've never met, to a gentleman from Siberia here on KZbin - connecting with my fellow human beings with the little trailer as the facilitator has been glorious. I'm looking forward to a lot more of it. Please share some pics if you decide to make a trailer : ) Thank you for the view!
