Thank you Shannon for your video! I like your approach to minimalism. For me cosy home important. I have done my winter preparations months ago, because I live in Finland and winter comes earlier. Now we have snow and -10 degrees Celsius which is 14 F. I don't think it is freezing, we might have lot colder weather than this. Before winter I wash all my windows, I also pick berries and mushrooms and dry different herbs. I also look my winter clothes and boots, what I have and what I need. Because my country is next to Russia, I was thinking what I need in case of Russian attack. If I would not have electricity, I have lamps which work with batteries and candles. I also have winter sleeping bag if our warming system is not functioning. I am planning to buy camper cooking system, if electricity is not functioning so I can make food. My cottage in the country side is ready for winter also. There I have storehouse full of dry wood to burn in my stoves. My son wants that we have always storehouse full of dry wood. He said that If he has to go protect our country from enemy attack, I can live in our cottage and survive. We live in a grazy world, when 21 year old has to think safety in whole new perspective. I pray peace in the world 🙏and I am grateful for all the beautiful things life has to offer us 😊 Take care ❤

Thank you, I actually love this vintage kitchen and I am super sad to see it go soon. But unfortunately, it's in really bad condition. Most of the tiles are broken, the grout has been missing for so long (way before we moved here) that there is now mold growing between tiles. Also in the 1970's someone decided to cut the cupboards in half on the one side and add an oven LOL. SO yeah there is a lot that isn't really seen in my videos but looks so bad in real life and also doesn't function very well. I know that was a long story, but I thought in case someone else has the same question I would explain. I hope you are having a nice week. =)

I do a massive deep clean just before Christmas. Then another one in June. Takes about three days. I also do all the little jobs that need done like refresh bits of paintwork etc. I descale the coffee maker and kettle. Sanitise the shower heads. Deep clean all the drains. Take about six hours cleaning the ovens. Take down all the lights and clean them. Wash every curtain, duvet, mattress protector, pillow protectors etc. I empty every cupboard and hoover and clean and declutter. Move furniture around. Get the roof and gutters checked. Check dates on everything in the kitchen. Restock what’s running low. It is such a good feeling when it’s all done. It means over Christmas I can relax a bit and just skim over for a few weeks😊. Spend time relaxing. 😊

The stenciled patio looks good, great place to entertain. Back in my "better" home keeping days, I wouldn't do spring cleaning, I'd deep clean in the fall, usually October. We are hosting for Christmas so I started cleaning in November with the same checklist I had last year. My hubby needs to clean the baseboards but that is it. I also make a checklist for grocery shopping and don’t buy everything at once so it isn’t one big huge grocery bill. One thing is my husband loves Christmas so we have a ton of decorations out. It is a compromise for me because I could just have a tiny bit. It can be overwhelming for me. I always take a sigh of relief once the decorations are down.

We have thought so much about trying to keep the kitchen vintage feeling. Unfortunately the problem with the tile is not only are most of them chipped or cracked but there is mold growing under them and coming up through the grout and where the grout is missing. We thought about trying to salvage some of it but my husband said it would be impossible. The mold is one of the major reasons why we are moving forward with the project now. =)

Hi Shannon! Does that one pizza feed your whole family?
@shannontorrens115 күн бұрын
Hello, No that pizza was just an appetizer. If we ate that for dinner we would probably make about 3 of them and put on a lot of toppings =)

I love your big armchairs in living room

Could you maybe clean your chairs then scotch guard them? They’re lovely chairs.😊
@shannontorrens113 күн бұрын
That's a good idea! I never thought of scotch guard. Thank you I will look at how to do that.

Sorry, this is something KZbin is doing. Translating our videos into other languages. There is a small circle in the lower right hand corner of the video and I think that lets you choose if you want to watch it in the original language. =)

Watch videos in your preferred language Some videos may offer audio in additional languages. Videos will default to match your preferred language on KZbin. If you want to listen to a video in a different language on a computer, and that video has other languages available, you can: Go to the video that you want to watch. In the video player, select Settings . (looks like a round gear) Select Audio. Choose your preferred language. If you want to listen to a video in a different language on the KZbin mobile app: Go to the video that you want to watch. In the video player, tap Settings . Tap Additional settings . Tap Audio. Choose your preferred language. I hope this helps =)

You're talking about winter but wearing shorts & flipflops
@shannontorrens113 күн бұрын
The patio was an ongoing process that took about a month, and we finished it before our guests came to visit at the end of October, I mentioned that we finally finished a project and so I was sharing it in this video. It is cold here now in the mornings and evenings but we live in Southern CA and my kids wear shorts to school everyday. It is still winter, though =)
