I've almost finished lining my double garage in 25mm MDF - insulation for my single-brick-thick walls, and (like you said) something to attach shelves, cupboards, racks etc to without a thousand holes into the brickwork. I've notched the sheets round the rafters (will insulate the ceiling in due course) and left a 50mm gap at the bottom. Getting whole 25mm sheets into place on my own has been a challenge, but hey, who wants an easy life! (A Russian study showed that 12mm MDF provides as much insulation as 150mm of brick, so I should be a bit warmer in due course, and cooler in summer, I hope, here in the UK.) Enjoyed your clip - you're a good tradesman! And you live and work in a beautiful part of the world!

Hey man, could you answer a few questions for me? I am hoping to finish the interior side of my shed walls with plywood like this. What router bit did you use here to clean up the edges of your plywood? Also, I noticed that most sheets of plywood aren't perfectly square. I thought about squaring them up with my track saw, but if I do that, wouldn't I be reducing my plywood down to less than 4 feet wide (thereby making them too short for 16 OC framing)? Finally, should I leave an expansion gap between the plywood panels like with exterior sheathing, or is that not necessary for interior work?
@HeckerAirsoft
@HeckerAirsoft Жыл бұрын
the sides don't need to be squared up its the top and bottom of the sheets and i would leave a half inch gap at the bottom and cover it with some sort of skirting just incase of any water damage getting to the ply. if they are unsquared i can't see an issue with taking the slightest bit off it would just mean that each panel isnt perfectly centred on the stud That router bit he is using looks like a quarter inch flush trim bit but i can't be certain i know this may be too late but i can only give it a shot

It's driving me absolutely nuts I actually can't take it. They should have used an automated phase for the fluttery chill effect they were going for but instead automated the pan left and right really fast and it's extremely annoying...nice vibe other than that but I can't enjoy it because of that effect and even watching this video is hard....I would recommend changing the music in future vids your hard work should not go to waste! Great video and work, I appreciate it this will help me in my next project I hope my input is useful and not just seen as negative. Cheers!

If your insulation bag is whole when you get it, cutting to 200 mm slits down on each side will allow you to turn into a trash bag if you flip it upside down and pull your now tabs towards yourself, turns the bag inside out, if the bag didnt turn inside out you did it wrong.

Ten years ago, I built a 20' x 40' shop and decided to use 1/2" plywood instead of drywall. I always had cracks and holes in my small shop, so plywood was a must. Best idea, as mounting light items and brackets anywhere, wasn't easy thing. Hell, I threw a small sledge hammer at the wall, to prove to my dad that it was solid; he was impressed.

I did this on a job 15 years ago. The trick is to seal and paint the bottom edge and back side 3 inches up to prevent wickin up damp if in a flood. I went against the clients wishes and opted for a coating of oil based paint which is way better than water based paint which degrades in welding etc, oil based retains it's gloss and requires less coats to cover.

Hello Scott. I'm putting in a timber batten frame in my garage. These are 45mmx45mm pine battens. Top, bottom, sides, around windows etc. Then I'm fitting 40mm thick wood fibre insulation. That leaves 5mm of a gap. The wood fibe panels are going against a wall in brick (the bricks with lots of air space for insualtion). The wall is very dry and the garage won't be heated. I noticed you haven't got an air space between your panelling and the insulation. Do you have a membrame behind the insulation to prevent humidity? Thanks, Mark
