Considering how meticulous you are with your building work this comes as no surprise. It is not what you do or with what you do it, it is all about the mindset you do it with and that is sadly becoming a rare commodity nowadays. Keep up the good work and good vibes. Greetings from South Africa.

Yo scott, I used to be a cabinet maker and worked with a lot of laminated sheets, we used to sand the laminated part with 100 grid to make it a bit rough, u can use masking tape to make sure you don’t sand the part that will be seen. after that u can use regular wood glue no problem.

I was going to say the same thing, Ive found that PU glue works very well, also if you get stuck you can use a double-sided tape that has a thick gum. I once used some double sided to stick a drawer front on that i couldn't get a clamp on and didnt want to pin it. i actually had to wack the drawer front with a rubber mallet to get it off.

The author does like to from scratch, kzbin.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

Great job on the laundry, Scott! Now, as far as your haircut - a friend once gave me valuable advice on relationships. With biscuits you don’t have to be perfectly aligned as you did with the slots. As long as the depth from the edge is right then you can give yourself a wide slot to put the biscuit in (move jointer from side to side or use a router with a biscuit bit) with a wide margin for error

Scott ; mate it’s called a “Vix-Bit” the self centering thing-a-ma-bob ! You can use a #4 domino also or a dowel ? I use dowels if I need to on that cheap melamine board (which I hate). @@dbayboyds409 yes just like a domino only I find a drill bit running thru a doweling clamp seems to cause less break away of the press board. I use 1/4” small as I can go on 5/8” or 3/4” . It is to me very difficult to work with! Because of chip out!

Those cabinets look fantastic! I’m glad you’re not in my part of the world. 😉 I have a cabinet shop here in Southern California, USA. Here’s what I do. Thin strips of laminate are mounted by taking those long strips of toe kick and other molding to the band saw or table saw and removing the laminate off of the back side. That will expose the wood (timber) and allow you to make a glue joint on those blocks you installed up top. Construction adhesive is used to glue it up. Hot glue or small strips of 3M double sided tape every 8-12 inches (20-30 cm) will hold those pieces in place while the glue dries. I use this technic for crown moulding too so I don’t have to fill any nail holes. BTW, the clips aren’t too bad. Lay the toe kick face down in front of the cabinet just like you were to flip it down. Mark the location of the base cabinet feet and then screw the clips into place. That’s it. I hate laminate btw. Fresh cut edges always cut up your hands. Hope this helps.

I put my laminated ply together with pocketholes and screwed it, no glue. Easy! And it's held up very well after 3 years of driving around in the van. Also very handy to pull things apart again. The trick is to use the correct screws (that don't have thread all the way to the head) so it really pulls everything together tight. But not very popular among purist carpenters but screw them haha...

2:13 TIP for ppl who “don’t know”. If don’t have test pieces and this happens, make another cut and, making double width biscuit AND then just add 2 biscuits w/ glue and ya don’t need to redo a finished piece (if finished, of course), or don’ t have extra material or don’t feel like running out for more material and starting over.👍🏻😉

You did a great job. I’ve been doing cabinets for 17 years. A helpful hint with that tow kick is to snip off the little plastic bit on the clip so they’re a flat surface. Then silicone the kick to those clips so they’re still removable and you don’t have to silicone them to the floor or use screws.

Great job and episode as always, tip top! The heat pump dryer is similar to a normal condeser dryer in the sense that both can have water collected in the tray or connected to a drain pipe. The main difference is that a heat pump dryer uses (as the name suggests) a heat pump to recycle the hot air. This means they use much less energy than a condenser or vented dryer so electricity bills aren't that painful ;D

Just done a utility room project very similar to this my own garage. I used white mfc board and a track saw. Came out well but took me ages. I’m now making fitted wardrobes for the bedrooms and I’ve designed the units and had them cnc’d and edge banded by the board supplier, so all I’m doing is making the scribed trim panels and screwing it all together. Only cost £150 more per room than having the full boards delivered. Worth it to save me a month of weekends per room I think!

Hey mate to continue the fun new tool train we just got in a product from siligun, its a little tiny caulking gun that cuts the caulking cartridge as you use it and sends it out the back. The idea being as you use it you cut off the back of the tube so the whole caulking gun gets smaller and smaller to get into tight spaces. It's dripless and all that, I work at a total tools in aus we sell em for about 35 bucks each so not sure how much it is over there!

I haven’t used it yet, but it looks awesome, especially if you’ve already got a track saw. And not so important, but “heat pump” refers to the way the heat is generated, the bit you pointed out was the fact that it is a condensing dryer :)

If you're not into paying extortionate prices for a domino tool, as a suggestion instead of a biscuit joiner try a dowel jointer. Top of the range is Mafell which is cheaper than the domino by a few £100's or a Triton for £150 with basic levels and providing a good strong joint like you would on floating tenons. Use as duo or single dowels as well.... Dowels I use for making longer surfaces aligned whereas I have a Triton dowel jointer to put cabinet, doors and window sides/framework together. Something for you to look into and research for future projects. Good job on the recent work, professional approach and meticulous accuracy with top finishing results 👍👍👍

Laundery looks really nice, like the washing basket drawer, good idea. For the top board, you could use a plate and magnet, one each end and one in the middle, be plenty strong enough and alot quicker, and removable if it has to come off for some reason. I made the mistake of buying a heat pump dryer, they are suposed to be cheaper to run, but take about 10 times longer to dry anything, they are not worth it.

for the ceiling connection you could also screw the blocks of construction timber onto the laminated plywood from the backside and then just put a little silicone on the blocks and then press it against your fixings. It's quick, easy and holds very good. That's how we do it in germany. Sorry i don't know how to explain it in better english, i hope you can understand:D

Sika 291 with acetone wipe over to prime the surface will hold forever. Love the Rail square. Haven't been able to find one in Aus. Makita make a very awful one. Don't know what they were thinking... I've never had a table saw because the workspaces are always tight so no room. Love the track saw for all finish cuts. I've added a Makita rail adaptor to my router and now I can make perfect rebates and slots. Best thing. Love your channel and have learnt a lot. Cheers.

Nice work, it looks great. I like the idea of having the front loaders up off the floor.

Nice job mate. I haven't looked through all the comments but in future, if you're building pre finished cabinets, invest in the lamello zeta and bite the bullet. You can do the same biscuit thing but with a biscuit that actually has clamping force so no need to hoping on glue and biscuits. As for to top trim piece you fretted over, I would have just used construction adhesive, there's no load on it.

I always undercut kickboards / plinths by 5mm so they're easy to install and remove. Floors are rarely flat and level. Also lets a bit of air circulate under the cabinets. You never see the gap unless you lay on the floor
