No one talks about the gap between the sleeve and the 4 x 4 which is all around at least 1/8"! This gap will bend the sleeve towards the 4 x 4 unless you install some shims. If you tighten one side and the the gap on the other side become close to 1/4"!
@garyteachout9819Ай бұрын
Agreed. We have fastened ours to a concrete raised pad on a grade - with SS concrete lags. The aluminum inner column has 2 mounting sleeves that slide down then screws to the posts to mount the horizontal rails. When we slide the plastic post sleeve in place there’s a 1/8” gap all around. This causes the same issue you are describing. I would think, for the price of materials, they would go the extra mile, and install channels w/ dense rubber strips to absorb the difference. On a PT 4x4 it’s probably a similar gap. Shimming is only possible at the top end. Better engineering is needed.

What height does the pressure treated post need to be at above the decking? I have seen 39", 42", 48". I am installing posts but I need some feedback from Trex. It is not told anywhere.
@TheTrexCo2 жыл бұрын
When installing Trex Transcend railing, the standard crown top rail design, our main priority is ensuring the railing support brackets (RSBs) have enough room to be placed on the post. When a Transcend railing section is completed, the measurement from the decking surface to the topside of upper rail measures approximately 36-1/16” for 36” rail and 42-1/16” for 42” rail. We recommend a minimum 2" clearance from the top rail to the underside of the post cap. I hope this information is helpful. Please call us at 800.289.8739 if you have additional questions.

ok I'm struggling. What's the min post height for a Trex Transcend rail install? According to some videos here the posts should be 39". Based on the template that comes with the post sleeve I need 4' posts. Currently my posts are 4' but they look too tall. Its winter right now in Canada so I wont be installing the rail for 1-2 months.

Leave ‘em long!!! Cut after the rail is in place. Leave room to put on a cap or light or whatever you want to top off with.

Hello, thank you for reaching out and your interest in Trex. The post cap will go over the post sleeve, rather than the post cap placed inside the post sleeve. We installed transcend railing system with aluminum balusters. The contractor used both the bottom and top baluster adaptor strips. However, the aluminum balusters vibrate when I walk by the railing. How do we fix that problem?

How is the trim ring attached to the deck?
@huejanus55052 жыл бұрын
Usually the trim rings just sit there or snap on to the bottom bracket of the posts or spacers.

Hi, I bought all of my Trex posts, skirt, tops, rail and banister kits from Lowe's and none of my posts came with the template to install the railing. Are they supposed to have come with the template inside? This makes the job of installation so much harder without the templates.
@TheTrexCo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out to us Gabriel. I apologize for the inconvenience. The 48" tall post sleeves sold exclusively at Lowe's do not include a cardboard railing template. Please give our team a call at 800.289.8739 for additional information.

Is there any way to just get the template? Contractor went MIA and we have all the pieces but no boxes left on the support posts. Had to order hardware from Trex, but would be easier with the template.

@@TheTrexCo how can we get the cardboard template that is shown in the written instructions that come with the composite posts? Your link is to a PVC template that is $70, which doesn't make sense for a homeowner doing a one time DIY project.

can you add cocktail rail on top of the transcend deck rails?
@peterh7012 жыл бұрын
Yes, one option is to use an additonal bottom rail (turned upside down to slide in balusters) and attach a deck board on top as your drinkrail. We just did this. The drinkrail extneds the entire lenth of the railing because we did not install post caps.
@TheTrexCo2 жыл бұрын
Hello Ankit! The cocktail railing design is compatible with all of our railing collections. Please reference the railing's specific installation instructions at www.trex.com/customer-support/trex-owners/downloads/ for specific details.

Hello, I had a new porch built just recently. I had trex transcend composite railing and ballusters (black) installed. On one of the bottom rails the screw that attaches down through the post, at :35 in your video has pulled out of the bottom rail so it now flops around. I also noticed that there is only ONE screw, not THREE like your video. Should there be 3? The contractor is thinking to just put in a couple horizontal SS screws under the rail to hold it up. I know he did the install right. I'm just wondering why this railing kit (from lowes) only came with 1 screw to attach each railing end to the post bracket(so 4 total), and not 3 for each (12 per rail kit)? Was there perhaps a recent change, as I note your video is from 2017, but these railings were just purchased 12/19

can you explain what the holes are for that you drilled in the bottom rail? thanks
@TheTrexCo6 жыл бұрын
Hello J Smith. The video shows holes being drilled at 2 separate times. The hole at :30 mark is to set the foot block in the railing. The holes shown starting at the :40 mark are "weep holes" which will allow the water to drain out of the railing. Kindly, Trex Customer Care.
@tjjervay66926 жыл бұрын
I had my deck installed professionally 19 months ago. I now have water dripping thru a split in the bottom rail. I believe the bottom rail split is due to water freezing because no weep holes were drilled in the bottom rail at installation and there are no gaskets on the ends where the rail meets the post. Has any one else had this problem?

Is there an easy way to take the scuff marks/debris off the posts when you lift the spacers up? It left white marks all along the posts that can only be removed, with difficulty, by magic eraser sponges.

Hello! For color transfer issues (from attachment of baluster spacer) we do recommend Mr. Clean Magic Erasers as you've mentioned or Plexus Plastic Cleaner to help remove this.

I have a Trex 12x20 deck with the Transcend deck railing. If you have this railing, make sure foot blocks are installed under each railing section! If you don't have this installed, your rails will sag over time. A year and seven months later, I am dealing with this issue now. I had my deck professionally installed, and they did not install this part underneath my railing. I was unaware of this requirement.

Step 1:09 has been impossible for me. Many of my infil kits were pressed incorrectly and have different hole spacing. You must open each box carefully and be prepared to go back and forth to the dealer a few times. You will be lucky if they help you. I do not live that close to the dealer either. I wound up purchasing new kits. Not only a waste of money but time.
