This episode is my favorite. It also gives more context as to why she was so apprehensive of Sydney (and Carmy's system) at the beginning, she was scared of the "young people swooping in" cycle starting again. Michael was her tether at The Bear, the person who hired her and gave her a chance and he was dead. Now his younger brother is changing things up and hired a younger, more skilled and experienced person who could potentially take her job.

and what's beautiful is that it was the younger chef, Sydney, that saw Tina and asked her to be her sous. Instead of pushing Tina out, Sydney looked at her and gave her a chance to learn, to earn experience, to get educated, to grow

I fell in love with Tina's character when that first music que hit in S1E4-DOGS before she calls out "Thank you, Jeff. Chef." I've been where Tina was. But THIS episode hit me like a truck. Ayo masterfully directed it, Liza & David's natural chemistry just oozes off the screen, and the convo with Mikey: equal parts unexpected joy & grief for his loss. Absolute favorite episode of the season.

I wonder how long it took for those actors to get the small parts telling Tina there were not/no longer job openings or she wasn't qualified.

The scene with Michael is one of my favorites in the whole series. Thought they missed an opportunity to show her losing her job to a young person or because she couldn't pick up a new routine at work. Just something to really reinforce her behavior in S1 y'know?

I think the piece about wanting a routine helps me to understand Tina deeply. She was so insecure when Syd and Carm came in and started making changes. And her reaction to the Bear menu changing daily makes a lot of sense

This was my fav episode this season so far. Especially when she walked in to the restaurant. I loved the Tina episode in season 2 too

The cup looks bigger than your regular serving of coffee so the amount looks fair

"I just want to feed my kid"... that was probably the line that sruck the chord for Michael to offer T the job.
