Clisare, I'm a Canadian that works in food manufacturing. The reason you most likely dislike maple is because you are used to what we call table syrup. I make it, and think it is disgusting. It consists of liquid sugar and maple flavouring (sometimes butter flavour as well), and comes in a plastic bottle. You just had pure maple syrup. Very different. Glad you didn't hate it.

You hit on a truth. Most people do not know what real Maple tastes like. It does not taste like the pancake syrups.
@thamertanner544811 ай бұрын
The syrup you buy in the grocery store is usually syrup that is maple flavored, not actual maple syrup. I live in New England and I get real maple syrup from our local farm stand, it's all locally produced as well with labels on the bottles telling you what farm it came from.
@beauregardrippey550811 ай бұрын
Unless you buy real maple syrup and put it on yer pancakes. 🤷🏼♂️ And its just as good on eggs and sausage and bacon and grits and every other damn thing on a breakfast plate.
@bamachine11 ай бұрын
Most people see the price tag on the real stuff and then chose the "flavored" garbage. Like most things, I hate artificial flavors. Spend the extra for the real thing and just don't absolutely drown your pancakes in it, use it sparingly and the price difference won't be that big. Also, it takes far less real maple syrup to give you a flavor bomb.
@patrick986511 ай бұрын
Exactly. The real stuff can often be pretty expensive.

At Epcot in Disney World, the Canadian Showcase sells maple popcorn. Just flavored with the maple syrup. Nearly everyone who catches a whiff is attracted to it. it's good the day it's made, then it gets soggy and sticky.

As a Canadian who has helped at a Sugar Bush where we tap the Maple trees for their sap then put the sap into evaporator pans to make syrup Enjoy!

Idk why it comforts me to know so many Canadians are as obsessed with random Irish folk like me LOL

as a Canadian maple syrup is more tree food then it is tree blood, the syrup is made from sap which is the energy for the sugar maple. 🍁

If you guys like tea you should try Rooibos (which means Redbush) tea which grows wild and only grows in Cape Town South Africa where I live, but you should be able to find it in Ireland shops im sure. It’s got the most amazing honey taste, and some people also call it honey bush tea, it’s great with sugar and milk or even just clean it’s delicious to drink.

I have made Maple Syrup, starting with taping the sugar maple trees. Cooking it down. My Aunt would then bottle it.

Fun Fact, It takes ~40 gallons of maple tree sap to make 1 gallon of syrup. The 40:1 reduction is a process that's closely monitored to steadily evaporate the water out of the sap to achieve the nice thick syrup without scorching it

5:29 I guess I didn't realize maybe Irish people wouldn't know what real maple tastes like 😂 Clisare's reaction was classic! "It tastes like I'm eating a very chewy tree." Maybe maple just tastes like sweet tree wood? I never thought of that. Paddy and Ciara "It's tree blood." Lol It is!
