Clisare, I'm a Canadian that works in food manufacturing. The reason you most likely dislike maple is because you are used to what we call table syrup. I make it, and think it is disgusting. It consists of liquid sugar and maple flavouring (sometimes butter flavour as well), and comes in a plastic bottle. You just had pure maple syrup. Very different. Glad you didn't hate it.

The syrup you buy in the grocery store is usually syrup that is maple flavored, not actual maple syrup. I live in New England and I get real maple syrup from our local farm stand, it's all locally produced as well with labels on the bottles telling you what farm it came from.

Most people see the price tag on the real stuff and then chose the "flavored" garbage. Like most things, I hate artificial flavors. Spend the extra for the real thing and just don't absolutely drown your pancakes in it, use it sparingly and the price difference won't be that big. Also, it takes far less real maple syrup to give you a flavor bomb.

we harvest from over 500 acres every year, there are 5 farms involved. We show how it was done in the olden days. There is miles of blue lines that go to large cook houses to boil the sap that is sold to the stores. The syrup samples sent to you are about 10% of what is produced with maple syrup. We also tap Burch trees to produce a less sweeter syrup.

Yes, people do need to cut you some slack. I sent the box and am not at all offended/angry that you didn’t like everything. I’m glad you liked some of the things. I’m also glad that Canadian maple syrup is slightly better than yours. Maple syrup is incredibly sweet and not everyone’s thing. Watching you on Try and your own channel has given me laughs and brought a smile when going through a VERY hard time and I am grateful for all your hard work. ❤

The only place I see maple syrup products in western Canada are at the tourist shops. In general western canadians use store bought syrup on their pancakes because maple syrup is always about three or four times more in price.

I grew up on the south shore of Montreal in Canada and every spring growing up we would get a batch of maple syrup from our neighbor. Me and dad would do a tiny shot of maple syrup to see if it was good. You get it fresh and the can is still warm, you got to taste it you know! :)

I think the disconnect in flavor expectation is that these items are goodies made with real maple syrup, not "maple syrup" artificially flavored goodies. The flavor of Real Maple lessens with heat, leaving just a rich sweetness ❤❤❤ as a cook/baker I just had to clarify

Give me a Grade A Dark Robust Amber Tree Juice please! Love it! I’m from the northeast US originally and I’ve got mostly Canuck blood in me as my family ancestors emigrated to what was not yet Canada in the early 1700s from Europe which is probably why I love the Tree Juices of the Great White North. Great video as always 😂 But I have to say, even as a certified lover of Maple Syrup I don’t think I could do it by the shot.

If you guys like tea you should try Rooibos (which means Redbush) tea which grows wild and only grows in Cape Town South Africa where I live, but you should be able to find it in Ireland shops im sure. It’s got the most amazing honey taste, and some people also call it honey bush tea, it’s great with sugar and milk or even just clean it’s delicious to drink.

Fun Fact, It takes ~40 gallons of maple tree sap to make 1 gallon of syrup. The 40:1 reduction is a process that's closely monitored to steadily evaporate the water out of the sap to achieve the nice thick syrup without scorching it
