i remember as a kid quite liking the added silver. hell to this day for whatever reason the toa nuva are still my favourites. i'll admit the toa metru are cool and all but the toa nuva and the toa mata for that matter are the only toa that feel more like something out of a legend

Tahu Nuva is my all time favorite Bionicle. Even though I've fallen out of my Bionicle obsession, i still keep the Toa of Fire on my shelf.

Sadly I never had this when I was a kid, but I did find one at the flea market in 2019 as part of a Bionicle lot and I made him taller to scale better with the G2 Toa using parts from my collection.

Uh, Eljay? Your little contraption was an official part of Tahu Nuva's instructions. You were supposed to remove his left gear and its axle to form said contraption, and then remount the left arm using an included black axle-pin. Also, the eyes really do look more properly red when the light-piping is active.

What I find amusing in hindsight is that I actually used to use Tahu Mata's flame sword as a surfboard attachment long before I got the Nuva upgrade.

I think they had the silver masks when the Bohrok-Kal stole their elemental powers, which drained the masks of their colors

The mod for these toa were actually included as extra pieces for ALL Nuva sets, and were used for the combined Toa Kaita, so Lego did some thinking about this edit.

toa mata never made it to where is live, so i had to use Nuva tahu to make a mata tahu, i made a paper mask for it XD the good old memories...

Actually, Tahu Nuva comes with a friction pin/axle combo so you can pose both arms with just the pieces in the canister.

i never really liked the mask redesigns. tahu's was the most natural progression but even then it felt more like they had some sort of cancerous growth than the protodermis actually upgrading them. which made the hordika arc particularly ironic since all im thinking while vakama and co. are whining about being turned into monsters was "in 1000 years or whatever when you meet the nuva you are going to laugh so hard"

I was half expecting one of the cons to be that lava board "function", namely the fact that you have to attach it to the sides of the feet so when he is "lavaboarding" he's kinda forced to be in this awkward twist with his feet. All in all, good review, though.

i went to a Lego convention like 2 years ago and when you walk in, they give you a ticket for a raffle and like 5 minutes into the convention they called my ticket number and i got to choose between any of the toa nuva or the bohrok new in the canister and i chose tahu nuva. i still have him in his canister and everything

Well, I'll be biased as all hell due to nostalgia, but Tahu Nuva is my favorite Bionicle of all time... due to being my first. There are objectively better sets by poseability and playability, but to me Tahu Nuva was and always will be THE hero, THE Toa. And I do agree that it's not just a new set of the same character, but it feels really upgraded, I love the armored look and I love how well the chest piece fits the torso.

I prefer the way Tahu looks with the Magma Blades together in one hand. I also don't like the way they made the Lava Board function work because it makes it so that one of his feet has direct contact with the lava

The way they did the lava board is kinda lazy. They should've included a piece that links the 2 swords, and then a few pieces in one of the feet to stick a pin under the foot to connect to the board. Instead the board pierces through Tahu's foot.

As a kid, I never really followed the lore behind Bionicle, but I loved collecting them. When I saw another figure with the name Tahu, it kind of wierded me out, but he did look similar enough for me to realize it's an upgrade. But when the Toa Metru came out and had the same names as the Turaga, I thought they just ran out of ideas for cool names :P
