I worked for ESTES as a linehaul extra board driver from 2014-2019 out of the Charlotte, NC terminal. At the time of hire, I was 65 years old and had 8 years of OTR experience, but no doubles experience. They offered me a trainer and I learned a lot! I worked for ESTES for 5 years. It was a great experience working for a company who really believed in safety. I made $89K my last year (2019) and I ran in 26 states. I only left because I wanted to retire at 70 and I desperately needed to have my right knee replaced. Thank you ESTES for giving me a memorable opportunity.

Congratulations Chuck! I'm not a truck driver, I'm retired and stumbled across your channel just a few months back, shortly before your previous line haul stint. I've enjoyed your videos with your positive outlook shining through. After watching a few of your LTL videos I discovered that I'd become addicted to the "clank, klink" as you closed the trailer doors after each delivery! I'm amazed at how you whip that 53' trailer in/out of various docking situations. Your line haul videos were interesting, showing the landscape as you traveled through, views and video of the various terminals and the differences in management style at several of them. Glad to see Estes finally provided electric pallet jacks to you drivers. Best of Luck and I look forward to videos for your next adventure!

Still planning on getting a go-pro and showing what a day at XPO in Westchester Cnty NY doing P&D looks like, it's very different as far as the roads go. Good luck with the new venture buddy, and have a good day driver!!

Those electric pallet jacks are really work savers , we used the electric ones that moved 2 pallets at a time at a grocery warehouse where we both delivered and picked up loads . I get what you're saying about seniority , as well as driving truck I also drove for Greyhound for 3 years back in the 80's ( working about 3 months out the year only to get furloughed for 9 months a year bc of such low seniority , and the closest location I could get to home was 800 miles away ) . But yeah , I'll enjoy very much seeing the various terminals and scenery along the way , can't wait to start seeing it . Be safe , watch out especially for those box trucks and 4 wheelers .

My dad used to run LTL for a regional company called Molerway Freight Lines, and used the old manual pallet jack. Loved playing with them as a kid, but I can see how much easier the power-assisted pallet jacks can be. Occasionally see your fellow Estes drivers up here in Montana. Every time I see one of the company trucks, I think of the great closing song to your videos!

Hey Chuck, Estes owes you an attaboy too because you're a damn good employee. That you are also good at doing videos and explaining the various things that you do and how it's done the right way. That you can transition back and forth between road and local is further proof of your ability as a driver and employee. I'm a retired commuter bus driver so I have a pretty good ability to view what you're doing and see how good you are. Keep it up! (I started with freight years ago but I realized that freight that walks itself on and off the bus is better!)

He then had his team sample several different electric jacks. Eventually, they bought 1500. Created the survey to ask the drivers which ones they thought were the best. They bought another 1000 or so. Our terminal has 6-7 of them. Glad that Webb saw the need for drivers wanting to save their backs moving heavy freight several times a day.

Here you are on your last day and now you get an electric pallet jack! My opinion is that I am very happy to see you go back to line haul. As I've told you in the past I am retired from being a US Mail hauler with a dedicated run which I loved. To me P&D is fine but is more of a young man's deal. I just liked doing the same run every trip and not having to touch any freight whatsoever. That and not having to deal with people. I know you've shown some great people at your stops with P&D but I'm sure you've had some more "grumpy" ones. When I did a short stint as a truckload driver it was mostly terrible how they treated over the road drivers. I'll be looking forward to your videos back on line haul!
