The Turtle Girl if I don’t completely fill my tank, due to having a hanging suction cup platform, how much evaporation is understandable? Say, over a week?
@TheTurtleGirl5 жыл бұрын
@@TwoFootGiant I'd say that you have to monitor your tank and see for yourself how much would evaporate. The rate of evaporation depends on water temp, how much surface disturbance, etc :)

The Turtle Girl I have a 3in1 Aquarium Internal Filter Oxygen Submersible Water Pump for water flow, aeration and a secondary filtration source. Is that good for a 20 gallon tank with a turtle?
@TheTurtleGirl5 жыл бұрын
@@WadeTheLion it really depends on how you have it set up, how big the turtle is, how often you change water, etc. It could be sufficient filtration, it could not. If it's keeping the tank clean, then I would say yes 😊
@WadeTheLion5 жыл бұрын
The Turtle Girl It's a 20 gallon tank and I have my primary filter on one side of the tank so it doesn't get the other side. That's why I got the secondary filter to create water flow and reach the side that the primary filter can't. The primary filter alone keeps the water clean. I do have pebble stones that I bought from petco but I might take them out and have a bare bottom

@@zee-wx7vk While baby turtles might cost less than $100, adult turtles, can eventually cost thousands, through filters, substrates, aquarium upgrades, ect. Which is why people should do research on the type of turtle they get, because a quarter sized red eared slider can become a 12 inch+ turtle.

A few weeks ago my mom went kayaking while I wasn't home and ended up scooping a little turtle out of the lake and he has been living in a like container and last weekend I finally got a tank, pump, water filter thing and a fake log to stick to the side of the tank. He is still in the little container now because we don't have everything we need to move him to the tank. I do realize that my mom didn't make the best decision and if I were to have had a choice I would have defiantly put him back because I was not ready to have a turtle yet, I was going to wait about 9 more months to get one so I could research. I did make sure to have his container in the sun so he could bask and he is getting a little less shy and comes onto a little log while i'm in the room and i'm proud of him. I've watched a few of your videos and I've already gained a lot of knowledge about how to keep my little turtle healthy. I would love for anyone to reply with tips and stuff so my turtle can be happy and healthy. (Sorry if this was a little all over the place lol)

One of the best tricks I’ve learned when you mentioned sand & the water getting cloudy is I use a normal pasta strainer & pour the water on that… sometimes I’ll put a paper plate or something for the water to hit when it first gets going.. but I’ve never had any cloudy tanks! Also note that I typically use Carriabe Sand

@@jjustjess turtles aren't that highly contaigious because if they were then they wouldn't be such common pets!
