I rescued my red eared slider from a busy parking lot. She was so unexpected so I wasn’t prepared or educated on how to take care of a turtle. I’m finally saving up money and planning to buy her a way bigger tank, lights, filter, and building her basking area! :) If you guys have any recommendations or suggestions on what to get her, that would be greatly appreciated.

@Yuvan Rayalla Thank you!! I’m planning on using a crate that’s pretty roomy, and adding some kind of padding so she won’t get stuck on the holes. I like the idea of a “on the top” basking area. I wish you the best with your turtle as well! :)

Hey, this is Kamill (from the first tank you reviewed today). Thank you for reviewing mine. I did get a slightly bigger basking area but I told my mom already that I am thinking about getting a bigger tank because (like you) I still feel like the tank is too small for the both of them☺️. Thank you so much. And my African Sideneck is not that good of a swimmer so that is why the water is low even though the Red Eared slider has more webbed feet for swimming.

I didn't know half the things i did when i started with my turtles, when they were little, they had gravel as bottom substrate ...they ate a ton of it, and always pooped it without issues, luckily ...this was when they were up to 1-2 years old, they are now almost 9 years old and healthy, i of course changed the substrate to something much bigger they couldn't eat (river rocks) and moved them about 6 years ago to a much bigger tank, although i don't fill it full because i'm afraid of it breaking lol so it's sitting at 40 gal for 2 RES turtles ...i'm thinking of ways to put more decor to them but still unsure because of the swiming space. Still, thanks for all the tips and advice you put out there.
