This is such a pretty blanket - I went up on my crochet hook to make it "drape" more. Instead of the picot stitch I used the bobble stitch as it wasn't "standing out" because of the loose tension.

I am doing mine in four colors(I bought five but when I got them home and layed them all out I didn't feel like one fit well with the others). I'm doing mine in two shades of grey and two shades of purple. I had also never done a foundation row before. I have always started with a chain and then continued on to my first row. I LOVED IT! This is so beautiful. Thanks for making this so easy to understand!! if I decided to mark my first row with chains, is there a multiple or just enough chains to complete my desired width?
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk Жыл бұрын
Hi! If you want to start with a regular foundation chain you will chain a multiple of 3 + 1, then for row 1, hdc in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across. Row 1 should have a stitch count that is a multiple of 3. Hope that helps!

@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk Жыл бұрын
Yes! You could use a 4mm (G) hook and then work more stitches across and more rows to get the proper sizing. To adjust the width work a multiple of 3 stitches for Row 1 and for the length just repeat the stripes until you reach your desired length.

Idk if you’ll see this since it’s been a year but as a left handed crocheter, would the right side be facing me so I would single crochet into the front loops only for the second row and press the picot stitch towards me instead of away?? Basically everything just backwards?
@briannawatkins3519
@briannawatkins3519 11 ай бұрын
Also a lefty here, and nope, you would still do back loops as the one farther from you. The difference will just be that your first back loop only row will be worked from left to right instead of right to left.

I started making this blanket over the weekend and I think I’m using the wrong weight yarn because my stripes aren’t as big as yours and the length and width aren’t quite right. I’m having issues with row 3, I keep ending with a picot stitch for my last stitch, am I supposed to do 2 single crochets at the end instead of one?
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk Жыл бұрын
There should only be 1 SC at the end. For Row 3, make sure after working the 1st PSC you are working 2 SC between each picot stitch. The repeat is *SC, PSC, SC*, so you will work a SC, PSC, SC, SC, PSC, SC, SC, PSC, SC... ect. If you had been doing that, then check to make sure your stitch count is correct, you need a multiple of 3 for the stitches to line up correctly. I hope that makes sense and that this helps!
@robinsanchez5960
@robinsanchez5960 Жыл бұрын
@@TheTurtleTrunk Im having the same problem. I see this as a 2 repeat stitch - sc psc. if you repeat that across you have an equal number of stitches - which all your starting chains are. But then you need that extra stitch for your last sc otherwise you're ending with a psc.
@jessicahanson7554

Can this be done with a regular chain and half double crochet first row? I suck at doing a foundation chain.
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk Жыл бұрын
Yes! Just chain one more than the stitch count your size calls for, then HDC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in each chain across, then continue following the pattern from Row 2.

Hi there - I am trying this pattern out. Got a few stripes down and it seems much more dense and the stripes seem a bit smaller. I am using a 4 weight yarn and 5.5 crochet hook. Any ideas as to what my mistake is ?
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 2 жыл бұрын
It could be your tension is tighter than mine. Here is the gauge pattern if you want to double check: 15 STs x 12 Rows = 5” x 5” If that is the case you can go up a hook size or two!

Hi, i am doing the throw blanket size which calls for 144 stitches. For row three my last stitch is a Picot stitch instead of a single crochet. How do i fix this?
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk Жыл бұрын
If your stitch count is 144, you should end on a SC. Double check to make sure you didn't make a mistake with the row 3 repeat. The Row 3 repeat is 3 stitches and 144 is a multiple of 3 so it should work out. Make sure you are repeating *SC, PSC,SC*, meaning after the 1st PSC, there will be 2 SC between each PSC (ex. SC, PSC, SC, SC, PSC, SC, SC, PSC, SC, SC...). Hope that helps!

Hi! I think either a simple single crochet border or a picot border would look great!

Would I be able to use DK yarn to make a throw?
@TheTurtleTrunk

You absolutely can! You will just need add extra stitches and rows to make up for the size difference

Can I use a 5 mm hook to make this blanket?
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes you can! It might make your blanket slightly smaller, but it shouldn't make that big of a difference.

How you do your yarn over is backwards for me unless I’ve always been doing it wrong, I never go underneath the way you do and it’s tripping me up
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 6 ай бұрын
You may be yarning under then. When you yarn over you want the yarn to go over the hook, if your yarn is under the hook, that’s a yarn under. If you yarn under it’s not a big deal, the stitch will look slightly different but it doesn’t affect the outcome of the pattern.

I’m not sure how but I lost four stitches so I’m having to start over

Sometimes it’s easy to miss the first or last stitch in the row. If in doubt count your stitches each row or put a stitch marker in the first and last stitch to be sure not to miss it!

Can you start with a chain and then a row of HDC? Instead of doing them together? I can't make it past 24 stitches before losing it and having to take it down
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes you can do a regular foundation chain then a row of HDC. For your chain, +1 to the total stitch count, then for row 1, HDC in the 2nd chain from the hook, then in each chain across.

@@TheTurtleTrunk I agree. I’d love a video without doing the stitches together. Thank!

Is there a border that would work with this blanket?
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk Жыл бұрын
If you want to keep it simple you can work a round (or few) or single crochets! If you want to keep with the fun texture, you could add a picot border!

What border do suggest for this pattern? 🤔

Since this pattern has a lot of texture to it I think a simple single crochet border would look great!
