@@respectablebogan3276 Thank you. That's so true. I can't imagine anyone except Ian playing Gandalf, and I can't imagine anyone except Chris playing Saruman. While I'm sure Chris would've been a magnificent Gandalf, I imagine it would pale in comparison to his Saruman.

If I may add with regards to Peter Cushing. When his wife died he would run up and down the flight of stairs in his home with the hope of bringing on a heart attack, he was shattered by his wife's death. Christopher in the hope of helping his best friend invited him out and together would visit cinemas and watch cartoons, Abbott and Costello, etc. It was the cartoons they loved the most and they carried like on children, roaring out loud laughing, imitating the cartoon characters and such. So when he mentioned how much he missed his friend (.. "our idiotic humor.. ) I confess that I teared up. In our short lives we are lucky when we strike up a friendship, but are truly privileged when it ends as Best Friends

Christopher Lee was one of the coolest guys around. Fought Nazi's as a young man, continued playing in the Hammer horror movies because, when he was about to leave for greener pastures, Hammer asked him to stay because, as their star, his leaving would cause people to lose their jobs and so he stayed, spoke something like five different languages. So greatly underrated.

Sir Christopher Lee was a master of less is more. Dooku didn't have much screen time but he didn't need it because his expressions and the way he delivered lines were enough to make Dooku interesting. Listen to how regretful he sounds when he apologises to Mace or look at his reactions after Jango gets beheaded or Dooku chops off Anakin's arm.

this interviewer is totally thirsting for Sir Christopher. I think all of us females become weak in the knees listening to this distinguished gentleman. God rest and bless this great soul.

Question put to him of what his final encore would be; He lives for another 20 years and plays probably the most famous role he’ll ever be known for which to him was probably the pinnacle of his career; Saruman the White in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. What a life.

RIP and thank you Sir Christopher Lee for your participation in defending my country from the communist nightmare that was USSR. I have every bit as much respect for you, and love for your performances in the cinema, as I have for the veterans of my own country. From Scaramanga to Saruman, the quintecential antagonist, much obliged.

This is before he was in Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, two great roles late in life.

Amazing that he had not yet acted in the two franchises that would completely redefine him in the eyes of young people when this was made.

I said I wanted to look that good at 75; my girlfriend responded that I don’t look that good now; what do I think is going to happen in the next forty years?
