@@respectablebogan3276 Thank you. That's so true. I can't imagine anyone except Ian playing Gandalf, and I can't imagine anyone except Chris playing Saruman. While I'm sure Chris would've been a magnificent Gandalf, I imagine it would pale in comparison to his Saruman.

If I may add with regards to Peter Cushing. When his wife died he would run up and down the flight of stairs in his home with the hope of bringing on a heart attack, he was shattered by his wife's death. Christopher in the hope of helping his best friend invited him out and together would visit cinemas and watch cartoons, Abbott and Costello, etc. It was the cartoons they loved the most and they carried like on children, roaring out loud laughing, imitating the cartoon characters and such. So when he mentioned how much he missed his friend (.. "our idiotic humor.. ) I confess that I teared up. In our short lives we are lucky when we strike up a friendship, but are truly privileged when it ends as Best Friends

Christopher Lee was one of the coolest guys around. Fought Nazi's as a young man, continued playing in the Hammer horror movies because, when he was about to leave for greener pastures, Hammer asked him to stay because, as their star, his leaving would cause people to lose their jobs and so he stayed, spoke something like five different languages. So greatly underrated.
