Күн бұрын

The Cork Alliance Centre works with people released from prison and living in the Cork area of Ireland. They support people to make a fresh start after prison, both in terms of reducing offending and increasing positive participation in family and community life, with the ultimate goal of living a crime-free life.
Desistance is the process by which people move away from crime and its associated behaviours. Sheila supports people in their desistance journey, and helps them to grow awareness and understand consequences and explore alternatives so that the person can become better equipped to manage their life positively, and make changes that will last.

Loved the talk it's all about talking. Got to listen really late as I'm up the walls. I agree with what's each of you had to say and Shiela spoke about giving the person the power to do the work on themselves. My dad used to visit the inmates on spike island once a month and I always listened to what he said when he came back around our table. We come from West Cork and it was an unknown world to us but I remember him saying I'm there to listen as it could be my child in there and one young fella complained about the mattress on his bed and he asked my dad to help him get a new one which he did. Society needs to change too and give people opportunities and hope as without hope you have nothing to cling to and we all need acceptance and kindness and to be loved. It cost nothing to he nice and to be kind. Well done to all

Another good one lads, an idea for one in the future, maybe one or two parents or siblings. There's a brilliant parents support group in Matt Talbot Services. I think sometimes services forget that addiction is a family problem, recovery is also a family issue. If families don't receive help too, they tend to unwittingly jeopardise there persons recovery. I've seen it first hand. Well done again, I've been forwarding your podcasts to my pal in the farm, just to use in seminars to let the lads know anything is possible with a belief in yourself.
