I wish I'd watched this video when I was trying to learn my first song! Would have saved me days of confusion! Now I'm ready to decide on the next song to learn, and I'll feel much more confident! I was feeling pretty good about singing the song in my head while I strummed it out, but as soon as the words came out of my mouth out loud, my fingers suddenly forgot what THEY were supposed to do. Thank you so much for this tutorial! Love your app, too!
@taylorhodgson17847 жыл бұрын
I really struggled with this when I first started. I still struggle with more complex strum patterns so tend to keep it more simple, but I've also only been playing for 3 months so I have lots of time to learn! I love your tutorials!
@Nikorasen6 жыл бұрын
Hey I just wanted to say thank you for doing these videos, I thoroughly enjoy watching and you are a very skilled teacher. The way your lessons are set up very is very accessible for a beginner no matter which song or video one chooses. You communicate your methods very well via video which I find is a very difficult thing to do. At this point a day does not pass when "HELLO it's ME! THE UKULELE TEACHER!" doesn't blast through my speakers at least once. You've played a significant role in bringing and keeping music into my life and for that, I thank you.

@francesca23417 жыл бұрын
CutieMarkLessPony I practiced that strumming pattern forever and literally never stopped even when I didn't have my ukulele with me and it became automatic so I didn't need to think of strumming, also try to do dduudu without saying down down up up down up ect so you are not relying on speaking it to get the right stumping pattern then your mouth will be freed up to sing

Amazing advice, I really did not know where and how to start practicing this. This helps so much. Thank you!
@Chimpie6667 жыл бұрын
I think the number one step would actually be to practice each individually. Combining the two is easy, if you know how to do each on their own. The problem is that people are impatient and want to learn two skills at once, singing and playing. If you first learn to play the song (by heart) and separately learn to sing it, it should be a cakewalk to overlap it.
@Chimpie6667 жыл бұрын
If you try to play a difficult pianopiece you also dont just learn both hands at the same time. You first figure out what each hand is supposed to do and then combine them.
@wonder_worrier6 жыл бұрын

Great video, thanks! I have a question: how do I find the right strumming pattern for a song? Like for example if I google chords for a specific song, most of the time there is no info about the strumming pattern.
@becklandbro7 жыл бұрын
Veronika Kruk I usually just look up the strumming pattern separately,, but sometimes the comments on ukutabs have the strumming pattern. you could also watch a how to play video like these or try to figure it out from listening to the song if you're behave haha
@YaliSafiya257 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think it's against the law to share strumming patterns on websites, that's why there are never any of them, at least that's what I've heard. I always try to find a video tutorial online that'll show me a strumming pattern, if not though you could listen to the song and try to see what pattern it might be.

But how does it happen in the 4-bits song? The pattern is "down down-up up-down-up". The 1st bit is also "down", 2 - "down-up" and 3 and 4? Or it doesn't work this way?
