Anyone ever noticed that Smokey has a slight resemblance to Ness? (mainly the green Alt. seen in Smash Bros.)

Sorry for being a bit late with this one, I've been working through a long and tiresome backlog of other videos that I've been meaning to get through for the longest time. Needed to get them out of the way first. Onto the snarking/pseudo-reviewing: *Sonic the Hedgehog: Smokey and the Badnik* 0:11 "I'm Smokey, and I'm an alcoholic." 0:23 Hark, the mark of Craggsy, son of Banksy, lesser known affiliate of El Barto and regular swimming enthusiast. 0:33 Inside the Badnik's head: "Here I am!? You just walked right past me, how did you not see!?" 0:47 Sonic: "I'm Bat-hog." 0:53 Y'know Sonic, I think it might be best if you don't lurk in the shadows of abandoned public places and reveal yourself to kids, telling them it's _only_ you. It gets people talking. 1:03 OK, where the heck did they come from!? First the Badnik, then Sonic and now Troopers. Is everyone in this place want to be a ninja or something!? 1:23 Sonic: "Before all this dust provokes my allergies." 1:29 Sonic: "WHOA! TOO LATE!!" 1:33 Inside the Badnik's head: "Uh, Smokey buddy? Might want to watch where you put your hand. It's not helping our situation." 1:39 Sweet gattling gun. Speaking of, that's the Trooper who was leading the group... AKA the one who should have been trashed first. Guess having a gun that bad-ass must have saved it through sheer awesomeness or something. 1:51 Inside the Badnik's head: "Wanna see my Pac-Man impression? Om nom nom!" 1:56 Oooh, guess Sonic wasn't pleased he missed the first time. Right in the iron bearings. 2:04 Inside the Badnik's head: "Oh no I've gone cross-eyed." On another note, ever notice that Fleetway Sonic is unique in that any non-spinning attacks he does are usually punches and throws? Most other Sonic's prefer to use their feet. Nothing too peculiar about it, it's just another interesting observation that shows how differently STC handled his character. 2:10 Sonic: "As soon as I turn myself back around, you are SO getting decked in the schnoz!" 2:25 Sonic's hatred towards Badniks burned so much he turned the background white! 2:31 Sonic: "OK." *Proceeds to rev through the both of them* Ha ha, dark. 2:37 *GLARING INTENSIFIES* 2:41 I thought this was a Smokey and the Badnik parody, not Citizen Kane. *And so it is said, that on his death bed the elderly Smokey Kane dropped his favourite lava lamp (because snow globes had gone extinct 30 years before in the Third Great War of the Novelty Trinkets), and as it hit the ground, the word "Badnik." could be heard slipping from his lips. After days of investigative reporting, the press at last found out the meaning of his cryptic last message: it was the name of his very unimaginatively named Badnik all along. Thus ended the tale of Smokey Kane, billionaire philanthropist and possibly a dog (it's a little hard to tell what he is to be honest, but I'm guessing a fluffy dog).* 3:03 Smokey: "I didn't know you could talk!" Badnik: "You never asked." 3:09 Ah, dammit. The comic made my joke for me. XD Gotta love when that happens. So this was an interesting little story for sure. I hear it's quite the community favourite among fellow STC fans, and I can see why. It's a heartwarming little tale for sure. *Knuckles the Echidna: Ghost Ship - Part 2* 3:31 I don't blame Knuckles for looking scared here. Jeez, can Plunder look scary in Nigel Dobbyn's style. 3:41 Knuckles: "And while you're at it, the background too." 4:08 Mmm, that's some _goood_ continuity. 5:24 Oooh, ominous. Not really much more to say this part. There's little to snark about and the story itself doesn't offer much for me to comment on just yet. All I can say is that it's a shame Simpson doesn't get more lines; we'll just have to make do with his comedic little background antics. I don't mention them when I can because it takes away from the gags if I talk about them, but I do love his little side bits and interactions with the rest of the cast. I just can't talk about it without spoiling the joke. *Tails the Fox: Fox on the Run - Part 3* 5:48 EXTREEEEEEEME BUNGIE JUMPIIIING!!! 6:00 Good job this runs on comic logic, or their faces would still be melted off. Rising heat? Naaaah! 6:19 Ladies, please, you're both beautiful. On an off note, since when do Badniks eat people? Unless of course, these are just really weird looking Mobians. Y'know, I don't think the comic ever clarified, since I'm sure this is the last time we see them. 6:35 Jerry's breakdown over his poor work relationship with Tom was truly a heartbreaking sight to behold. 6:48 I'm certain Tantrum's got bipolar disorder or something because he shifts moods REALLY quickly. On the other hand, this does raise an interesting point on the discussion of heroes; how much of a hero's duty is a civilian's safety, and how much is up to the civilian to save themselves? Questions for later. 6:55 OOP! He said it! There's the moral! 7:07 As correct as that wild guess likely is, it's weird that the Doc would make such a natural looking cavern in the middle of nowhere for seemingly no reason but to possibly trap and kill Freedom Fighters. If I was Tails I would have just assumed some Badniks fell down there and decided to hang out for a bit. 7:24 - 7:40 I could snark a bit here, but I don't want to take away from what might be the first genuinely bad-ass Tails moment in a story I actually like that didn't involve sheer dumb luck or somebody else doing the work for him. Good on you bud. 7:52 He might be a little silly, but I actually do really like Fleabyte's design. It's a shame he only appears once or twice after this story, because I feel like he's a good addition to Tails' personal rogue's gallery not connected to the Nameless Zone or the Flock. Another solid part to a very enjoyable solo Tails story, and one that gives him some MUCH needed character development. Funny, action-packed and surprisingly thought-provoking, I actually really like this one. Now onto the important stuff... So this is a very important issue for me. I've mentioned before that I consider this to be STC's Silver Age. Well, this issue is the end of that era. From Issue 76, we are entering what I consider to be the greatest era of Sonic the Comic: it's Golden Age. I have my reasons for thinking of that era with such high regard, but let me just say this about STC's Silver Age; it was amazing. From Issue 21 to Issue 75, this is when Sonic the Comic really began to pick up steam, and for many people this was in and of itself a type of Golden Age. Some would even prefer that era to the one we're about to enter, but that's personal tastes for you. There was a lot to love about this period in Fleetway Sonic's history: Robotnik's transformation, Amy's introduction, the dawn of Captain Plunder and his not-so-merry crew (and Simpson too!), the many parts of the Metallix Arc (from the Sonic Terminator to the Brotherhood of Metallix, from changing time to their final defeat), the Sonic and Knuckles adaptation (and of course, the introduction of Knuckles himself), Brutus versus Super Sonic, the beginning of the Brutus insurrection, Doctor Zachary's grand debut and the mysteries of the Kohenyu, just to name some of the more notable stories and events that happened. So with all due respect, I bid adieu to STC's Silver Age, as we enter my _favourite_ era of STC... He's coming. (Countdown S-Minus 5...)

Dude, nothing to apologise for. I always find it interesting reading your comments and views for the issue at hand, your a great active subscriber to the channel, sometimes I have to have 2 tabs open to reply to your comments as its so long haha. One thing I learned about this and the next issue is the that troopers mean serious business and are always packing some serious artillery! Your right this story does have quite a strong following, its a nice story with great artwork as always from Rich! Haha, Nigel Dobbyn sure did draw Plunder much more grotesque looking (not a bad thing) than any over artist right! I thought the same thing as you. And if those badniks had never intervened then you'd have a cooked fox and mouse for dinner! Also since how would a badnik be able to eat a living creature? I really do enjoy the arcs that are soon to follow however for personal tastes I would say I'd slightly prefer the silver age as you put it, arcs to the golden but this is simply my preference. I can't tell you how many people's first words to Richard Elson at Summer Sonic was "I loved the Running WIld arc", he even said that I heard a lot of fans say this was a turining point in the coming to a more darker turn. Next issue coming up soooooon!

***** Cheers mate, always glad to hear my patronage is appreciated. Also, two tabs? Wow, I do ramble on don't I? XD I'd actually have to say that Nigel Dobbyn's take on Plunder is my favourite, and I associate him with the Captain more than any other artist. I love how expressive he makes him, especially when he's mugging for the camera, and I think his proportions for Plunder look a lot better than Richard Elson's did; as much as I love Mr. Elson's work, his Plunder always came off looking very squat to me, like he's been crushed under a giant weight. I was asking the same thing! How _would_ a Badnik eat a living creature? Questions for later. The Silver Age, as the name implies, is my second favourite era, though as I've said before it's all down to personal tastes. I like the darker, more serious stories coming up more than I do the stories that dominate the Silver Age, but that by no means implies that I dislike the Silver Age, rather that I just love the Golden Age so much. Good to know the next issue's coming soon, since I can hardly wait! The countdown starts now...

Its interesting as to what Plunder's height was originally meant to be, in his debut issue he appears not much taller than Sonic, yet straight after in his next appearance he is much taller. Nigel Dobbyn gives him a much more human like body, I like it!
@mobiusscribe37328 жыл бұрын
***** Agreed, I prefer him with a more humanoid figure. He looks a little ridiculous with the squatter style, like walking would be a chore. Course, that could just be his common stance in his debut; legs should not be that far apart. One thing I've always wondered about Plunder though is what he even is. I've heard people call him many things, with the most commonly stated being a walrus, but he just looks like a human with tusks to me.
@SonicTheComic8 жыл бұрын
That's a good question! I'll ask Richard when next I speak what animal he is based off seeing as he is the dude that gave him life! Gotta be a Walrus though right?
