A little clarification on the entropy tangent: most, if not, all chemical reactions loses a bit of energy in the form of heat or friction, and since no new energy can be made, there will eventually be a time in millions of years where all energy in the universe is lost. This scenario is called the “heat death” of the universe.

Hello! I’ve been an equestrian for ~17years now. The ethics of riding is super complicated, and is also different based on the different disciplines. Racing is way different than sport/competitions, which is different from riding schools. All of them have their own separate issues - ie. racing has issues with pushing horses’ limits, while competition has issues with extremely questionable training methods, while riding schools have issues with people expecting horses to work but “don’t need the care” that comes with the work. I’m from Canada so I can only speak on that, but I wish there were more not only more ways to report horse-based abuses, but also clearer regulations on what constitutes as mistreatment :( governments leave it up to sport associations to define mistreatment and bad practices, but then the sport associations lack the means to enforce these rules, leading to zero changes in the way things are done in the horse world because of red tape and training practices flying under the radar :( Anyways!! Love the podcast, I thought at first that “vs” meant Peter faced a bunch of horse girls in hand to hand combat lmao

To: Jordan, Hopcat and Cogger As somebody who's taken engineering classes for school I'll give you my best guess based off the first two laws of thermodynamics: 1st law: Energy can not be created or destroyed just change forms. This means that the energy being used to start the fire in the first place comes from the earth and/or the atmosphere so it's not like you're adding outside energy to the pile 2nd law: Energy always goes from states of high energy to low energy. The best way to explain this one is with heat. Heat is a prime way to represent energy and what the second law essentially means is that if something is hot its energy will be redistributed to its surroundings which are not as hot. It's why warm drinks and food cool down when left in a cooler environment over that period of time eventually doing what Peter says evening out at the same temperature as the energy will always go from hotter to colder until its completely evened out. So with the fire yes you are technically adding heat to the surroundings but it will even itself out with something else and like I said this isn't energy you cropped out of nowhere, you are basically redistributing energy that already existed. Truthfully the biggest concern with fire is that they release greenhouse gases which causes the greenhouse effect (which is basically trapping heat in Earth's atmosphere making it so the heat enters the atmosphere but doesn't leave) which is the primary cause of global warming and that is much more concerning than the actual heat of the fire.

I listen to sad music when I'm sad because I always like to listen to music that fits my mood: an extension of the emotions I'm feeling. When I'm alone (like when driving, in my room at 2 am, etc) and sad, it feels like I'm stuck with my emotions, and listening to sad music is how I get the sad emotions out- I can't stop feeling sad until I've expressed the sadness outward

To: Jackson, Jordan, Peter (and Soundboard Zack lmao) Dear Underdogs, Let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed this week’s podcast. I was particularly fond of Jackson’s showerhead ad at the end, and I will definitely start my morning off tomorrow with a bit of French Jazz 😉. As for who I would like to see on the podcast in the future, I think it would make for a great episode if you managed to get all your girlfriends together with you on the show one week. A few weeks ago, Sophie added an interesting dynamic to the group, and the Dhar Mann episode with Maddie a while back was fun too; and although it might get a bit hectic with 8 people in the studio, I’m sure it would lead to some pretty entertaining discussions. All the best, Alex

To the whole crew, as someone who struggles with depression pretty often I think both Peter and Jackson both have very valid points. I listen to sad music, and Jackson is right in the idea that it is helpful that it gives someone to relate to and gives solace in knowing that you aren't alone. That being said Peter isn't wrong, it does tend to make me a bit more sad but it's more of an acceptance that I am sad and then you kinda have to stay self-aware and move past once you've accepted it. The best you can.

Sad music is my 2nd favorite genre, behind rage/battle music. Strong emotions make for the best music in my opinion, and my past has been fairly rife with traumatic occurrences and my go to method was bottling them up. Venting through music was my only real source of emotional relief. Suppressing my emotions actually gave me much more control over them (or led me to realize that I had this ability all along) so whenever things that would normally piss someone off happens to me, it kind of just rolls off. Lol there's nostalgic value in angry and sad songs and it reminds me of both the positives and negatives of it. That's why I listen to it.

I listen to and enjoy sad music. For me most of the time, I can detach my own feelings enough to truly appreciate the beauty of intense emotions. I (luckily) tend to be someone who is in good/happy moods 99% of the time, but when I listen to music, I focus on the words and the stories the music says. I come from a choir background and have always tried to emulate emotions from songs into my singing, even sad songs that I might not be able to explicitly relate to. But being able to appreciate the emotions that are put into a song is what makes me enjoy listening to it so much

I've often gravitated towards more emotional/thoughtful music. Especially since depression set in more and I needed more of a release. Music, especially instrumental (think VGM) helps me express/process my feelings in ways words can't, and eases me towards contentment

Regarding the question about sad music: Burying your emotions and trying to distract yourself from sadness is often more harmful than allowing yourself to work through that negativity. For me, listening to really devastating music is often bittersweet because it fully absorbs me in that sadness but also helps me work through it. It’s almost comforting.

i'm a guy, yes i listen to sad music and why do i do that, i dunno like you said, certain "sad" music connects with you with feelings you cannot express i listen to sad or very energetic music to just... process my emotions(?) i guess(?) like, listening to hard rock to motivate yourself and give yourself the feeling of not giving up and letting your soul scream internally or listenening to something like imagine dragons "wrecked", hurts "stay" or just emotional ost from video games some songs just come to my mind when i'm sad but also out of nowhere. fun fact about me: i connect people or moments with people where i felt strong emotions to music, like shoutouts to my toxic friend out there, i listened to "wolf in sheeps clothing" for ya in short, there is music that fits your mood and connects to you and gives you words to express and/or process your feelings, yea. btw love ya underdogs, you're the absolute underGOATS🔥

I listen to depressing/sad music for a variety of reasons. For one, some of it is genuinely beautiful. I find that out of hurt/sadness comes great beauty. Secondly, I sometimes listen to it because those songs helped me get out of hard times myself. Thirdly, it helps me relax when I'm feeling tense or stressed. And finally, having a range of emotion in the music I listen to is more preferable to me than one emotion all the time. To: Jackson
