@TYSHEEN, I thought you might have recognized the "BEATLES SOUND" since you HAVE reacted to some Beatles songs. The first song was indeed the Archies "SUGAR SUGAR" which you recognized, but the rest of the songs were ALL BEATLES SONGS...sung by a Dutch group of session musicians who actually IMMITATED the BEATLES VOCALS and instrumentation, especially the guy who was singing John Lennon's part! Then the record ends with that same "stars on 45" part it began with. Listen again to the INTRO before the sing SUGAR SUGAR and you will hear them MENTION these BEATLES songs: "WE CAN WORK IT OUT," "TWIST AND SHOUT," "TELL ME WHY" and "NO REPLY" (they don't sing those songs, they just work the titles into the intro. THEY DID AN ALBUM version of this that lasts 16 minutes and it's ALL BEATLES except for the "stars on 45 intro like on THIS record....which they also repeat in the MIDDLE of the Beatles medley, then do more Beatles, and end it with the Stars on 45 again. I have both the 45rpm record you head here AND the album. Both are on vinyl

This was very popular when i was a teenager back in the early 80s. This Beatles mix reached Number 1 in many countries. The next big one was an ABBA mix and they also did a Stevie Wonder mix too.

Favourite song when I was 12. At least doubled the number of Beatles songs my generation was made familiar with, since none of these were the really "big" Fab Four hits everyone knew (probably too expensive to license). To this day, if I hear these Beatles songs, I would think of the So45 version first.

Hi Tysheen. During 1981 there were a number of these 'Medley' records, I think Stars on 45 had three or four that year. I think they were a dutch group and as you could hear they recreated a number of hits usually from one artist with a disco type backing beat. The first song you heard was 'Sugar Sugar' by The Archies which was number one in the UK just before Christmas 1969. The other songs you heard clips of were by The Beatles, a lot of their less well known ones. I know another single they released had a lot of ABBA songs on it and I think they did a boogie woogie one as well with Glenn Miller and The Andrews Sisters on it. 1981 certainly in the UK was the year of the 'Medley Record' because other groups got on the bandwagon, for example a group called 'Gidea Park' did a medley of Beach Boy Songs called 'Beach Boy Gold'. As somebody has already mentioned in the late 80's 'Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers' had several number ones doing a similar thing although I think they used the actual tracks from the original artists. Maybe you would like to react to that.

Hi Tysheen! Stars on 45 is a medley of popular songs. Mainly songs by The Beatles! Stars of 45(as in the 45 single vinyl records). I used to dance to this every Sunday once at a disco in 1981. It was the intro to the night's music

This song went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in mid-'81, and then inspired a medley craze in 1981-82. A 45 back in the day, was a record with just one song on each side. Where an album would be a bigger record with several songs on just one side. At least I think albums only played on one side. LOL. It' been a long time ago. During the Sixties and seventies for me.

LOL NOOOOO There is NO SUCH THING as an album that only had songs on one side!! There were usually 12 to 14 songs on EACH side of the albums (depending on the length of each song)

45 stands for 45RPM and that was the speed on the smaller vinyl's. This is a mix of songs that was released on 45 RPM vinyl's EP's and singel's. The big vinyl's was LP and they had 33 RPM.

It wasn't "mostly" Beatles, it was ALL BEATLES after Sugar Sugar by the Archies (and of course the "stars on 45" part at the end, WHICH by the way MENTIONS THE SONG TITLES OF BEATLES SONGS....."the Stars on 45 keep on turning in you mind, while WE CAN WORK IT OUT, remember TWIST AND SHOUT, you still won't TELL ME WHY, and NO REPLY -Y -Y" The Beatles songs mentioned there I put in CAPITAL LETTERS. WHY they started it out with the ARCHIES song for a BEATLES medley I have NO IDEA!! WEIRD! ... I prefer the ALBUM version of this because it runs about 16 minutes and it is ALL BEATLES SONGS except for the "Stars on 45" Intro, in the middle and then again at the end. Otherwise it's ALL BEATLES and the group that is singing it SOUNDS like the Beatles, especially who ever is doing Lennon. All I know is that it is a group of DUTCH session musicians

ALL of the tracks were Beatles songs except Sugar Sugar. Yeah it's funny because Tysheen HAS reacted TO Beatles' songs but NOT the ones that are on this record. BUT I thought she would recognize the "sound" because these guys SOUND so much like the real thing.

It's not the original artists, it is a group of Dutch session musicians singing and the first one is a cover of the ARCHIES "SUGAR SUGAR" and the rest of the songs after that are ALL BEATLES songs but the group is IMITATING the Beatles and to me, a Beatles fan since 1963 think they did a FANTASTIC JOB! Because when I first heard this on the radio back in ''80/'81 I THOUGHT they had taken bits FROM actual BEATLES records, until I listened closer
