The other brother plays bass fiddle. This song is so comforting to me at 74 years old. I'm much closer to my end than my beginning. At my end I want to walk through the night, and into the light, meet my savior true, and shake hands laughing. Leave the world and all I own behind, with no hard feelings and have no enemies. I lost both my parents by the time I was 32 years old. What a miracle of a song with words I've needed to hear all my life.

There's 2 brothers- Scott and Seth. Bob, the bass player, has been with them so long he is their brother in heart and spirit.

I just LOVE the Avett Brothers. They just always tug at my heart strings so much. Murder in the City is great....so many great songs though.

This song is talking about at the end when you’re dying. It’s really a sad song.

That's interesting. I don't find it sad as much as I find it calming about loss and mortality. I'm sure we agree, sad or not, it's a beautiful song.

The one not singing is the base player. Actually there is a fourth "brother in spirit," a cello player. These guys write the most soulful and meaningful songs. Listen to this song many times as life goes by. Thanks for posting this.

Their producer Rick Rubin was one of the co- founders of Def Jam records that basically started hip hop in the 80s.

I’m a big fan. Fantastic song. The guys on the right are the brothers. The guy on the left is the bass player. This song written by Avery bro on right going through his first divorce. Contemplating divorce and life and death. Song came to him as he was driving. One of my all time favorites!

It’s almost as if God himself used these men to create grace in the form of a song.

The brother who wrote this said he felt the music and lyrics came from beyond himself, and when as he was done writing it all down, he wept.

I am absolutely biased as I have seen The Avett Brothers live 18ish times. We went to the Dominican Republic this year for their "At The Beach" series and it was stunning. You are just scratching the surface of their depth and emotion. If you want to hear what is, in my opinion, their best two songs and the two that got me hooked on them a decade ago listen to "Murder in the City" and "Laundry Room."

@@jacobweathers4714 absolutely! I’ve only seen them 3 times but I’m always amazed by how energetic their shows are, and the audience interaction - nothing but an exchange of love and good energy. It’s a religious experience, in a way.

I don't think the other one is a brother, the one who wasn't singing, he's their bass player, you have to check out more of their songs they're very good

These guys are one of my favs. So many good songs. I recommend "I Wish I Was", (I do a cover on daverippetoeable...shameless plug) "10,000 words", "Swept Away" Don't quit...you're doing great. Third guy isn't a brother...bass player.
